Race Morning

March 14, 2010

Waaah!!! It’s pouring outside! The winds are howling and it’s 42*F, but feels like 23*F with the wind chill. Perfect day for a road race, right?

I ended up buying a new rain coat for just the occasion, but it’s all about the layers today!

Shamrock socks!

Let’s hope that my race day gadgets survive the rain! :-?

For breakfast, I made myself one of my favorite race day meals: peanut butter + banana sandwich.

Yum!

I’m not sure if I am looking forward to this race or not. At least it will be an adventure, right? And, the green beer is totally worth it! ;-)

I love the new coat. I would not be looking forward to a race in this weather either, but I definitely think it will end up being fun memories for you!

You’re going to do awesome! That breakfast is my pre-race one of choice too – it’ll keep you going, despite the weather! M y first ever race was in howling wind and rain :p it makes you feel more noble after! GOOD LUCK!

That’s some serious dedication…I’m impressed. I can’t imagine running a 5K in this weather…running a block and a half to my car last night was enough for me! ;) Good luck!

yikes, i’ve only ran one race (also a 5k) in the rain and cold. the weather wasn’t the bad part, it was the side stitch i got partway through. so no worries on the weather. i hope you keep your gadgets dry, though! cute socks :)

and i had that same breakfast as my pre-gym fuel this morning too. yum!

Is it hard to run in the rain? I’m always afraid of slipping and that has held me back from some runs in the past =/

You’re going to have such a good time, even though it’s a little wet! Everyone in their fun green running gear AND green beer!!

Eeek! I I had to run in what I saw out my window this morning I don’t think I would have gone. Now it is much nicer and I’m thinking about an outdoor run.

Good thing you got a rain coat. Hope your camera and iPod stayed dry.

The winds are horrible. I couldn’t fly out because of all the delays they caused last night! I hope your race went well!

Reply

Baroque Diva March 14, 2010 at 11:59 am

Blech, I drove all the way to Russo’s in Watertown for cheap veggies after church on Newbury St this morning. Driving and running in and out of the grocery store was a huge pain, I think you are a SUPERSTAR for running in this mess! Hope you stayed warm and don’t catch a cold! :) Enjoy the beer- you earned it!
