Well, I’ve never done anything like that before! This morning’s 5k felt like an extreme sport at times. Holy wind and rain!
We arrived at the race about 30 minutes before the start time, so we hid out in the T station to stay dry and warm.

A lot of the other runners did the same. It was scary outside!

About 10 minutes before the start of the race, we all headed outside into the monsoon.

Brrrrrrr!

The race itself was cold, rainy, and blustery, but somehow I beat my 5k PR! I’m not sure of my offical time quite yet, but the clock time was faster than my personal best. Yay!
The weather was absolutely miserable, so I ran my little heart out just so it would be over!
When I finally made it to the bar, I realized that my camera didn’t survive the wet race weather.

But, eventually, my camera dried out!

After a 3-mile race and a few beers, it was definitely time to eat. We ordered a big plate of regular nachos and buffalo chicken nachos to share. I was starving, so I chowed down!

We demolished the nachos!

I’m so glad that I ran the race today! It was such a blast– even with the rain and freezing cold temps!
I just took the most amazing hot shower and put on my warmest PJs. Now, Mal, Murph, and I are heading over to Dave and Marie’s house for dinner and a movie. It sounds like the perfect Sunday night to me!

I cannot believe you raced in that weather! You are such a trooper and inspiration…
Have a great week!
By the way, I have began telling the grocery stores here in Italy about NUVAL! They are really liking the concept. Who knows, maybe it could go global!
Good job!!! The weather was SO intense….I’m impressed
Congrats on a new PR!!
Glad to see you all had a good time in the end!
Congrats on the PR! St. Patty’s day is always so fun
Despite the rain it looks like you guys had a hell of a time!!
Nothing beats a great day with friends!

Congrats! I love how racing in the rain just makes me feel more hardcore and it’s fun! Those nachos look amazing.
Great job Tina, congrats on the PR.
Yaay well done on the race, PR, AND running in the rain! Superwoman
Have a good evening!
Congrats on beating your PR!!! And thank goodness your camera recovered
It does make your pictures look more like the weather though–more representative of the race.
WOW! that’s soooo awesome that you still went and hustled through that rain! Not to mention those nachos are leaving me feeling very unsatisfied with my previous lunch.
Get some rest now! You deserve it
Nice work! I would have probably ran super fast too to get it over with!! I’m sure that beer tasted so good after all that!!
Glad ya had a good time in that crazy weather! And that your camera dried out!
Hope those good times match up for you:)
Hey Tina! I rarely comment, but I JUST MISSED making a cameo on your blog! I was also hiding out at the Davis T before the race – you can see the tip of my white visor on the far right of your second picture
Definitely extreme racing – but fun!
Wow what crazy running weather, but looks like you had a good time.
Great job!!!! Your green jacket looks so cute!!! Thats so amazing that your camera survived!!
Congrats on your new pr! You look cute in your irish garb! How do you look good after running a 5k in ran and cold? haha
Those nachos look SO good, especially after a great run!! Congrats!
I love how the chips are scattered all over the table. They didn’t stand a chance.
congrats on completing the race in those conditions, tina & everyone else who ran!!!
Looks like crazy conditions but congrats on the PR. The after party looks like tons of fun as well!
You had me going with the camera thing, I thought for sure you would say it was a gonner! Glad it dried out
Congrats on your time!
That is definitely one of those things you will never forget! Glad you made it through and still had a good time! Now, go get some rest!!!
giiiirl you are braver than me! It is MISERABLE in Boston, the rain is just pounding away on my skylight. I had planned for St Patty’s day festivities, but I think (spiked) tea and some homework is going to be my Sunday afternoon.
Congrats on the PR! The weather is terrible here, too. It looks like that was a really fun race, with lots of St. Patty’s Day spirit! Enjoy your Sunday night.
And that’s commitment! Way to go–glad you have a dry night ahead of you!
Wow, I was running errands all day and every time I got out of the car to run to the store I was soaked and miserable- I can only imagine you!
Awesome time! I just checked the results, I think they just went up. I had a new PR too! I was shocked considering the circumstances
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun after…we pretty much headed straight to the car, so cold, so wet! Hopefully next time it will be nicer so we can meet up!
Congrats on beating your PR despite the nasty weather!
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
Wow – talk about extreme running! What crazy weather!!!!!
Holy Cow, those nachos look insanely good! I would have devoured them, too. Congrats on beating your PR!!
Good for you, girlfriend! Congrats!
You are hardcore for braving the elements, but sometimes that just adds to the fun and adventure. Glad you enjoyed yourself!
I can’t believe you actually ran that! I woudl absolutely have piked and stayed home on the couch watching taped episodes of Ellen
You absolutely deserve a wonderful night – hope the movie, whatever it is, is super fun!
My 5K yesterday was followed by water, bananas and bread. I like your post-race celebration much more!!
Amazing recap, Tina!
Lovely pics
Have a great week, girl!
congrats on surviving the weather, it looks like you had an awesome time!!
Wow you rock I was complaining about a little wind I had to run in yesterday and obviously that was nothing compared to the weather brave souls like yourself were competing with. Maybe the desire for being out for the cold and wet lead you to that new PR whatever the reason congrats on the new PR
Congrats to all of the runners today! I NEVER would have been out running yesterday if I didn’t have a marathon to run in a month. You guys are awesome. . . and it looks like a lot of fun!
oh it looks cold! but the after party looked great:)
Way to go trucking on through that miserable weather! Looks like you had the right attitude to get you through such arduous conditions. The after-party looks like it was even more fun. Enjoy your dinner and movie!
So proud of you girl, that must’ve been rough!! And a new PR to boot, congrats!!!
Buffalo chicken nachos.. YUM!!!
way to just do the dang thing! looks like the fun afterwards was definitely worth it
there’s really nothing better than being cold and wet and then drying off and putting on warm clothes…hope the dinner & a movie is a blast!
You are brave! I think you beat your PR to get out of the rain
I’m so proud of you
Congrats! What a challenging race, it sounds like fun though.
Jenn
Races in weather like today’s are so hard to get psyched up for, good for you for still getting out there. I wimped out and did my long run yesterday, rather than today. The wind was strong enough yesterday for me.
I love your Irish Princess top!
congrats on beating your time, tina!!! it looked soooo cold and WET! good job. lots of fun afterwards, tho, right?!!?
great photos tina…of yall in the bar. looks so fun! and awesome job!
