Happy Tuesday!
Guess who is working from home today?!? This girl!
The nice folks at NuVal let me rearrange my work schedule so I can finish my book without losing my mind! So, now I’ll be in the office 3 days a week instead of 4, which essentially gives me a whole extra day to write. Yay!!! I have a feeling that this arrangement will finally help me achieve a true work-life balance!
Breakfast
My wonderful husband made me breakfast this morning: an egg and Swiss cheese breakfast sandwich on an Everything bagel. It was a great idea for breakfast!

He also added some buffalo sauce to my sandwich.

I love bagels! They’re so delicious!

I also enjoyed some tasty iced coffee with vanilla hemp milk.

P.S. The coffee deal is still on in my OpenSky shop! You can get 20 ounces of gourmet coffee for the price of 12 ounces!
Healthworks Giveaway
Healthworks has offered to give one Carrots ‘N’ Cake reader a 3-month membership to any of their locations. Pretty sweet, right?

To Enter: Leave a comment on this post* about why you want to win the 3-month membership. I’ll randomly pick a winner tomorrow morning.
Since Healthworks only has locations in and around the Boston area, I have created a separate post for local readers to enter.
Question of the Day
What do you think of bagels? Love ‘em? Hate ‘em? When was the last time you ate one?

I rarely eat bagels, but every so often I’ll have an everything bagel (more loaded than yours!) and it really hits the spot!! And I have wonderful memories of having egg bagels (not bagels with eggs…EGG bagels) after swim team practice when I was little
Yummm!
I don’t eat them that often, but I had one Sunday morning and it was divine! GREAT GIVEAWAY!!!!
I’ve been craving a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese like its nobody’s business lately.
I love bagels, but I don’t eat them very often. I love thick, chewy sesame seed bagels. Yum!
I would LOVE to win 3 free months at Healthworks! I am a law student and can’t afford to join a gym right now. I am getting tired of running outside and would love to switch things up using new machines and taking classes. Plus, a membership would really reduce my stress when I start studying for the bar!
I buy mini bagels from WF, they are really good–whole wheat and honey, I think.
I’m kinda “meh” about bagels. I used to eat a half one spread with vegemite (yep, I’m Aussie
) regularly as an after-school snack, but it’s too hard to find good bagels in Australia!
How yummy! I haven’t had an everything bagel in forever. I gotta try it with some vegemite!
I love Healthworks! I’m already a member, but 3 months free would really save on some cash!
loooooove bagels! miss the nyc ones….
This post made me want to go out and get a bagel. I haven’t had one for so long!
I’m glad you worked out a solution with NuVal so you can work on your book more!
I LOVE bagels! South Florida is pretty much an extension of New York when it comes to bagels, so we have pretty good ones down here.
That’s great that NuVal allowed you to rearrange your schedule so that you can focus on your book as well.
I love bagels too – especially with a thick smear of cream cheese – but always feel so guilty eating them because of the high calories (and carbs)! The last time I had one was maybe a few months ago, and I only had half (booo). Reading your blog is so inspiring Tina because it reminds me that it is okay to loosen up every once in a while and give myself a treat! Thanks, and good luck writing your book, I’m really looking forward to it!
As I was reading this post I was thinking how awesome it is because you are still fit and healthy but allow yourself a bagel. I love them but avoid them like the plague!
Love bagels (in moderation)! But, it’s hard to find a good “”real” bagel where I live– the closest place where we can buy “real” chewy bagels is about 30 minutes away. I’ve tried to make my own at home with some success, but nothing beats a good bagel from a bagel shop. I like to eat them for breakfast with either peanut butter or with cream cheese and jam.
I love bagels & eat them occasionally. I think it’s been several months since I’ve had one… I usually buy TJ’s onion bagels to make b-fast sammies for the hubby. The one Mal made looks delish! My hubb’s likes his with 2 eggs, 1 laughing cow garlic and herb spread on the bottom & 1 slice american cheese on top… And for a special treat, I like to put in a slice or 2 or turkey bacon.
I used to not like bagels and avoid them because I thought they were too carb-y. But now, after a hard morning run, every once in a while I like to have a whole grain one with pb or eggs. Mmmm!
I love bagels! I can’t remember the last time I had one…..it was definitely in the last year!
Bagels are a little to high in carbs and calories for me. But every once in a while a bagel sandwich is delicious.
I would love a healthworks membership..I need some more body pump in my life!
I love bagels! However, I am spoiled and only like what I call “real” bagels – the dense chewy kind like you get in NY. None of that Panera or Dunkin Donuts stuff for me. I don’t eat them often because they are so high in calories but when I do I take out the middle and just toast the outside. Love it with light cream cheese!
I love bagels but sometimes I feel like they sit in my belly like a rock.
I found roll of bagels in my freezer and had one today! LOVE bagels but I dont love the calories. Lender’s Bagels 100% whole wheat are only 180 calories
that is so funny you just had an everything bagel, because it has been FOREVER since I had one, but I just did too! I used having friends over as the perfect excuse to eat an old favorite. Great minds think alike
I love bagels … I had my last Squirrely No-Flour bagel yesterday for breakfast (PB&J – yum!) and it was so delicious! My favourite kind has to be the Everything bagels – FRESH! Nothing beats a fresh, warm from the oven bagel.
I’m going to have to make that egg sandwich for breakfast tomorrow – I have some leftover Swiss cheese to use! Unfortunately, all I have is whole wheat bread, so that’ll have to do.
K
Bagels are my guilty addiction. Everything bagels, toasted, with veggie cream cheese. The BEST!
