Friday State of Mind

March 5, 2010

I am definitely in that Friday state of mind today! I’m ready for the weekend to begin and all of my healthy eating habits have gone out the window. What’s up with that?! Friday rolls around and all I want to do is eat junk food!

Snack

Mid-morning, I craved something sweet. I would have killed for a freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookie! But, instead, I dug into my stash of Galaxy Granola and mixed it with some vanilla hemp milk.

This yummy snack definitely hit the spot, but two bowls and nearly 450 calories later, I knew that my special relationship with granola needed to end for the day. :-?

Lunch

Because I indulged in granola, I decided to keep lunch on the light side this afternoon. I had a Siggi’s blueberry yogurt and an apple.

And, a big bag of carrot sticks.

I also munched on a chocolate chip cookie that someone at NuVal baked. I just couldn’t resist, especially with it being Cookie Friday at all! ;-)

I’m heading to Starbucks after work to bust out my Health post for the week, so I’ll probably grab a snack there, too. I have plans for a late dinner tonight, so I’m sure that I’ll need a little something to hold me over.

Deal of the Week

The nice folks at Chefs Catalog have offered to giveaway a $50 gift card to one lucky Carrots ‘N’ Cake reader. Yay!!! Great prize, right?

To enter: Visit the Chefs Catalog website, shop around, and leave a comment about a product (or 2!) that you would buy if you win the gift card. I’ll randomly pick a winner tomorrow morning. Good luck!

P.S. Check out Patricia’s raffle for a Garmin 305 and The Stick. All proceeds go directly to Tufts School of Nutrition Science and Policy to help with their research in both nutrition and adolescent obesity.

A mini prep food processor would make my life easier so I don’t have to drag out my big one. And I’d love a good chef’s knife.

I would totally purchase a food scale, because I always tend to overestimate the food that I eat!! :/

The website isn’t working but I’m pretty sure I’d be happy with anything from that site. I am a kitchen appliance whore.

Well, I would have shopped around, but they are doing maintenance. So suffice it to say I would have no trouble spending a give card at that website!!

The site is down :( but reading the other comments, I’d like to try a Vitamix.

Comment on only 1 or 2 items?!?! :) Where do I begin…..the beautiful bamboo cutting boards, a fancy panani press, and a digital scale are pretty high up on the list, BUT I’m pretty sure if I won….that gift card would go towards a french coffee press!!!!!!

I am in desperate need of a new knife. I’m not quite sure which one, but I think I would go with one of the Henckles Santoku or chef’s knives.

i would definitely put the money towards a new blender – probably the cuisinart smartpower blender cbt-500. my current blender has a serious problem involving grinding noises and smoke…it’s time for a new one :)

Where do I even start? I would love to get a good quality blender such as VitaMix. I’ve been dying to try to make juices.

LOVE kitchen shopping! My hubby and I need a shiny new toaster. Would most likely happily buy the Cuisinart Classic Stainless-Steel Toaster. We also need a tea kettle for our nightly 8:00 tea … the Demeyere water kettle has a nice, cozy, homey look! I’m such an indecisive shopper! Thanks for the chance! :)
