Sweaty Mess

February 11, 2010

The gym was bumpin’ tonight! I guess people are sticking with their New Year’s resolutions this year? Or maybe I just caught it at a super busy time?

Luckily, I scored an empty treadmill and got right down to business with a 5.5-mile run on the treadmill. I was feelin’ it tonight. Awesome run! :-D

I alternated my speed between 6.5 – 7.5 mph, so by the end of my workout, I was a sweaty mess. My t-shirt was totally drenched. I actually changed into a dry one for the walk home. I was so gross. Ick.

IMG_5252.JPG

Does anyone else sweat like crazy when they exercise or is it just me? I’m seriously nasty by the end of a tough workout.

Dinner

Mal and I went to the gym together, so on our walk home, we stopped by Cafe Broadway to grab dinner. I ordered the Tossed Garden Salad with sun-dried tomatoes, crumbled feta, and honey mustard on the side.

IMG_5257.JPG

I ate about half of the salad and saved the rest for tomorrow’s lunch.

IMG_5259.JPG

I also ate a bunch of Mal’s curly fries. They were especially delicious dipped into the honey mustard. ;-)

Having a few cookies, watching a little TV, and then heading to bed early again. I’m still feeling really tired. Maybe I just need to catch up on my sleep?

G’night, blog friends! :-D

5.5 miles? That’s awesome! It must feel like so long ago since you were injured and couldn’t run, and now you’re racking up the milage

LOL! Jessica’s comment made me laugh! I always forget about Spring Break :)

Great job on the run!

After a good workout I am a sweaty, smelly mess. Very cute!! :-) I work hard! If you’re going workout, then you might as well make the most of it!

I’m a big sweater too. Some days I’m more self-conscious about it than others, but overall, it just reminds me of how much ass I kicked and how great I feel (especially after a nice shower)!

Oh, I sweat like a beast when I workout, ESP when I run. Congrats on the great run- I did as well!

When I studied abroad in Italy I joined a gym. The women there looked at me like I was crazy because I was always sweating buckets on the treadmill while they walked in velour jumpsuits and took cigarette breaks, haha. Sweaty means you’re workin’ hard!

I don’t really sweat, it is so weird. Even on my really long runs, I am lucky to get a few drops.

There is nothing better than fries with honey mustard. Although, I am extremely picky about my honey mustard, it has to be pretty sweet!

Dori February 11, 2010 at 8:57 pm

Those fries!! I’m craving them now. And honey mustard.

Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg February 11, 2010 at 8:58 pm

Oh my gosh– it has been SO long since I’ve had curly fries. YUM!!!!

It’s interesting– sometimes I sweat like a BEAST during my workouts, and sometimes, not so much. I don’t know what makes the difference, either. Strange.

THANK GOD I finally found somebody that sweats ALMOST as much as I do! haha! I always wear a tank top under my t-shirt so that I can take the t-shirt off. It MUST weigh a good two pounds more when I am done working out than it did when I put it on.

and your killing me with those fries! mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Madeline @ Greens and Jeans February 11, 2010 at 9:04 pm

I sweat a lot but I have to say that going with a breathable synthetic shirt makes a HUGE difference! Scope out places like TJMaxx or Marshall’s for some killer deals. I always hated the feeling of a heavy, sweaty, cotton tshirt!

Reply

Kelly February 11, 2010 at 9:04 pm

Oh man, I sweat so much! I pretty much stopped working out in regular cotton t-shirts, now I just use dry fit stuff cuz it was so bad. Don’t worry it’s not just you.

Part of the reason I sweat so much is because the lights in our gym are SO crazy hot. Even before I’ve worked out hard enough to break a sweat, I’m burning up from those lights! :/

Erika February 11, 2010 at 9:16 pm

I sweat like crazy….look like I stepped in the shower with my clothes on lol…..hope you had a great day :)

Hey Tina! I’m a long distance runner, trying to get up to 5, I can really only do about 3.5 on the treadmill. I was wondering if you lift free weights or do any sort of strength/weight training? People have told me I should be doing other exercise than cardio to get stronger and preform better. Can you offer any advice? I’m intimidated my the weight machines at my gym..haha. What else should I be doing?? Thanks!

I don’t get super duper sweaty – unless it’s Hot Yoga or something – but I do wear t-shirts while exercising. Do you mostly wear tees too, or are you able run in tanks?

You’re so lucky you go to an all-women gym. At least it’s not nasty man sweat. They can get so funky! Some of the men at my gym are so loud. They treat the gym like it’s their personal hang out. Annoying!

Alyson February 11, 2010 at 9:59 pm

Wow, that’s an great run, congrats, you must feel awesome! I really need to get back on the running bandwagon. I’ve gotten really into spinning, but there isn’t much better for you athletically than a good run. Oh I wish I loved cardio :p

I can work up a good sweat on a long run but it’s weird, my body feel cold to touch, like my hands are like ice but I sweat. I like sweating though. It makes me think that I had an extra hardcore workout. One thing though, since I do sweat during cardio, I could never wear a loose shirt. It bugs the hell out of me when it sticks. Call me gym fashion snob but I have to wear underarmour or nike dry fit.

How could you eat only 1/2 of that salad? So much self control. I’m sure I would be full eating just half but something goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes on it would have to be eaten in it’s entirety if presented to me. Lol.

Good work out, good eats. Keep it up Tina and you will conquer your own “Lose the Dough” challenge!

Reply

Yes, I sweat a LOT when I work out. And I’m very self-conscious about it, even though I try not to be. Because if you can’t sweat in the GYM, then where can you? :)

Reply

Ann @ Turbo Teacher February 11, 2010 at 10:40 pm

I agree with Trish ~ If you are going to workout, you might as well work hard and get sweaty! Sometimes I am so sweaty by the time I finish my cardio session, that I feel bad getting on the strength training machines!!

However, I think if I did not walk out the gym door a sweaty mess, I might feel like I wasted my time!!

I’m a sopping wet at the end of a good workout. I always pack a change of clothes in the winter and have a separate laundry just for my nasty clothes.
