Sweaty Mess

February 11, 2010

The gym was bumpin’ tonight! I guess people are sticking with their New Year’s resolutions this year? Or maybe I just caught it at a super busy time?

Luckily, I scored an empty treadmill and got right down to business with a 5.5-mile run on the treadmill. I was feelin’ it tonight. Awesome run! :-D

I alternated my speed between 6.5 – 7.5 mph, so by the end of my workout, I was a sweaty mess. My t-shirt was totally drenched. I actually changed into a dry one for the walk home. I was so gross. Ick.

Does anyone else sweat like crazy when they exercise or is it just me? I’m seriously nasty by the end of a tough workout.

Dinner

Mal and I went to the gym together, so on our walk home, we stopped by Cafe Broadway to grab dinner. I ordered the Tossed Garden Salad with sun-dried tomatoes, crumbled feta, and honey mustard on the side.

I ate about half of the salad and saved the rest for tomorrow’s lunch.

I also ate a bunch of Mal’s curly fries. They were especially delicious dipped into the honey mustard. ;-)

Having a few cookies, watching a little TV, and then heading to bed early again. I’m still feeling really tired. Maybe I just need to catch up on my sleep?

G’night, blog friends! :-D

Yum, fries dipped in honey mustard is delish. I sweat tonsssss too. After about 20 minutes, my hair is soaked and dripping, my shirt is soaked, etc. I finally started buying those dri fit tops since my tees were so gross!

I’m sweaty no matter what intensity I work out! I start dripping after 10 min. even if I’m just dilly dallying. You’re not alone :)

I sweat like crazy when I work out! It’s a good thing I work at a gym and can just whip my hair up wet after my midday workouts or I’d be in trouble. Don’t worry, I’m sure there are a ton of us in the same boat :-)

PS-Can you explain this OpenSky stuff?

if you were at healthworks tonight, it’s the damn groupon. they’ve actually added more spin classes to accommodate the influx of groupon buyers. Also, it made me late to a sat morning class because so many people were lined up at the desk to redeem theirs. also, i think i sweat more than anybody around me. i used to be embarrassed, now i’m proud :)

Hey just so you know maybe you should get permission to photoshoot everyone at the gym, seriously not everyone may like an upwards ass treadmill shot or ANY while working out. Some may do it for medical reasons not to look hot (hello loose the dough) or to keep up with runners.

I LOVE sundried tomatoes- that salad and those curly fries look delicious!!!
I usually don’t sweat too much in regular life, but when I do that’s my indicator that I got a real workout ;)

Don’t worry I’m always a hot sweaty mess after a workout too!

Okay when I take a spin class I sweat SO much and get SO red. Once 30 minutes after a workout my mom told me I looked like I worked hard…I thought I would have cooled off and dried off by then!

I am on a Sweet Potato kick and the cookies you posted earlier looked fantastic!

I don’t think I’ve veevr worked out hard enough to get super sweaty :P I’m more of a slow-and-steady elliptical girl myself!

I always get really sweaty at the gym too – but ONLY the gym, I’m fine everywhere else\!! It’s a gym mystery….

Great run! I am the opposite, I never sweat unless it’s 80 degrees out.

Happy Friday!

haha i am ALWAYSSS such a sweaty mess after the gym. I’m not a generally sweaty person or anything, but when i work out I sweat so much, but at least i know im working my ass off :)

also, i read your post on health.com about desserts and eating food when your alone and its in your house and i just have to say, i feel like i could have written the article. i am the exact same way. it is easy to pass things up when others are around due to embarassment and other people seeing my “healthy habits” , but if i’m alone, all bets are off. glad to know i’m not alone…

I’m always a sweaty mess too! But at least you know you’ve worked really hard. You have the T-Shirt to show for it! ;)

Yum I love french fries too! mmm mmm!

Oh my god, I sweat like you wouldn’t believe! I tell myself it’s cleansing and means that what I’m doing is worth it :) But I also feel like a pariah around those girls on the elliptical who don’t break a sweat or have a hair out of place on their head…

@Kerry: I agree. I’m not sure if you can hold a “reasonable expectation of privacy” at the gym (you can’t on public streets, which is how you see all those fat bellies as B-roll when TV news does a story on obesity) but I would be less than thrilled if someone were snapping my photo on the treadmill, then posting it on a blog without my permission. I think that photo was in poor taste.

I am always a sweaty mess at the gym, it’s okay though. It just means we work out hard!

I agree. I sweat buckets (esp with i run) too…but I have found that it’s much more comfortable to work out in a wicking t-shirt or tank top than a cotton-t. In fact, I haven’t worn a cotton-t to the gym in years because i HATE how sweaty and gross they get! :)

I agree – I wouldn’t be happy if someone snapped my picture at the gym and then posted it on a blog…

I sweat about 2-4 lbs of water every time I workout!!

Oh god, I sweat SO much when I work out! It doesn’t matter what…running, spinning yoga. I’ve even been known to break a sweat when doing crunches!

It’s comforting to read that I’m not the only Carrots ‘N Cake reader with this issue ;) Anyway, I’ve found that moisture-wicking tops are essential for me; although I’m a sweaty mess, I don’t *feel* like quite such a sweaty mess. It’s all about perspective!

I always sweat so much, specially during spinning and running! There is always someone who comments on how much I sweat, but I don’t care it makes me feel good because it just shows I am working hard!!! ;)

Great run! My leg has been bothering me this week so my runs have not been so good. Such a bummer!

The fries look delicious!!

Thank God I’m not the only one who sweats like MAD!
After 30 mins of cardio, biiiig sweat stains show on my t-shirt and even on my bum, it’s so embarrassing!
I look like I’ve been doing workout for hours even though I just started!

That also means that I shower every single time after gym which means washing my hair every single day, I hate doing that (as my hair gets used to this and gets greasier quicker) but there’s nothing I can do about it because there’s no way I will continue the day without a proper shower…

Good job on the mileage! I know after a workout like that I’m definitely one attractive person … or not. My one dog knows whenever I finish a good workout and always comes running in to try and lick the sweat off of me – at least I’m desireable to someone in the house at that point of the day! LOL!
