Packing and More Packing

Let the packing begin!!!

Mal and I have just 11 days to pack-up our entire apartment before our move. Eleven days might seem like enough time, but I’ll be in New York City for 3 of them and we have two very special guests staying with us for 4 of them, so really, we have just 4 days. And, that, my friends, is a tad overwhelming. 8-O

But, Mal and I are super planners, so we’ve mapped out our plan of attack. We made a list of things that need to get done and divided them up. Hopefully, this list will keep us on track.

In addition to creating a game plan for the next 11 days, Mal and I have also embarked on Project Eat It So We Don’t Have to Move It. Basically, you’re going to see some weird meals on Carrots ‘N’ Cake– probably a lot of canned foods, like soup, beans, tuna, and other relatively heavy items.

IMG_4624.JPG

Hopefully, we’ll save some money by doing this, too. After the Move from Hell, we hired movers for moving out of this apartment and they’re sort of expensive!

I also spent part of my morning packing for my trip to New York City on Monday. I’ll be there for a cake decorating event with Electrolux and Kelly Ripa, which will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Obviously, I am super excited!

I’m terrible at packing, so I figured that I might as well get a head start on the process. So far, so good!

Breakfast

After making a considerable dent in packing, I made myself a much-needed iced latte with non-fat milk, agave nectar, and cinnamon. It was just what I needed.

A little while later, I cooked-up an egg white sandwich with cheddar, buffalo sauce, broccoli, and mushrooms on toasted whole wheat Sandwich Thins.

I just threw in some raw broccoli and mushrooms to make the veggie egg white patty. After all of that cheesecake last night, it felt pretty good to put some vegetables into my body!

Haha love project eat it so you don’t have to move it. Great idea though! And I’m sure hiring movers will help the process tremendously. I’m a list girl all the way. I make lists for everything.. it’s so gratifying to cross things off :)

Oh wow, all that packing must be overwhelming :s I feel for you! I’ve never had to move house, but I did have to move into uni accomodation, and that was bad enough!
Good call on the eating-stuff-from-the-cupboard thing; I was low on veg the other day, so I dug about in the cupboard and found artichoke hearts! Never had them before, but I can now say they are one of my favourites !! It’s amazing what can be found in a cupbaord :)
    Have a good day!

That melty cheese on your sandwich looks so yummy. Good luck with your move! Your plan of attack seems doable and there might be a few harried, hair pulling moments, but you’ll get it done. We’re a military family and move often, but we’re also spoiled by having people pack and move our things. If I were in your shoes, I’d definitely pay for movers, as well. Sometimes you just have to pay for convenience and sanity.
Best wishes on a quick and painless move.

Hiring movers is expensive but it it worth every single penny! I don’t think I will ever try to move again without movers doing all the heavy lifting for me. Good luck, and don’t forget to eat to keep up your energy!

Although packing can be kind of stressful, it’s always nice to get the chance to get rid of things you don’t need and re-organize. I’m sure you don’t have much to get rid of this time such you just moved a few months ago, but it’s nice to take inventory every once in a while!

Ahhhh packing again! We did a series of moving a few years ago and it drove me i-n-s-a-n-e. I’m such a pack rat that it becomes a super stressful time. Good thing your apartment is so clean and clutterless :)

Packing is so crazy isn’t it! I try to do one room at a time, that way I feel there is some organization to the boxes. But…it’s never easy. Good luck and stay warm- cold in Boston today!

That iced latte and breakfast sandwich look like the best meal ever! The organizer in me loves how perfectly the egg fits the sandwich thin and how you can see the layers of color from the outside! Yes, I’m a dork like that!

good luck with the packing! I hate to pack to move! My husband and I would love to merely change apartments in the same building (to one with a balcony) but even a short move requires more packing than I am willing to do!

Packing is definitely a chore but I’ve become an expert packer in recent years. Of course, it helps that most of my moves have been international and come furnished, but I’m great at fitting my entire life into 2 suitcases and a carry-on. ;)

Great to do list! This is a good time to throw any crap away that you don’t need (and you just moved so I’m sure it will be easier), and what a great plan for not wasting any food. Moving day will be amazing – you’ll just sit back, drink your iced coffee, and give the movers a high five as they RUN up and down stairs with 4+ boxes at a time. Trust me – totally worth it!

I’ve moved many time and typically don’t ask for help so I just throw my stuff out or leave what I can’t pack! How ridiculous is that? I probably would have just saved money over the years by hiring movers. Looks like a busy couple of weeks! Can’t wait to see pictures of your time with Kelly!! Woot Woot.
