My Sister Bought a House!

February 12, 2010

About a month ago, my sister and her new husband bought a house!!! It’s a wonderful 3-bedroom ranch with a big backyard just north of Boston. It’s a sweet place!

CONGRATS to Sister and Pat!

IMG_5272.JPG

For the past couple of weeks, my sister and Pat have been working day and night trying to get their home in move-in condition. They’ve done so much work! It’s impressive how much they’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time!

IMG_5275.JPG

Tonight, Mal and I visited their new house to see the progress, hang out, and have dinner together.

IMG_5276.JPG

At their new house, I sipped on a Blue Moon.

IMG_5277.JPG

One of the best parts about my sister’s new house is the working fireplace. It was chilly tonight, so I warmed myself up by the fire.

IMG_5280.JPG

Just kidding! ;-)

Pat made a real, live roaring fire in the fireplace. It was so nice!

IMG_5288.JPG

For dinner, we ordered a couple of pizzas from a local sub shop called Santoro’s. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and the “Peasant’s Pizza,” which was made garlic, sliced tomatoes, basil, and romano cheese.

IMG_5292.JPG

I ate two pieces of the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. It wasn’t the best Buffalo Chicken Pizza that I have ever eaten, but it was pretty darn good!

IMG_5294.JPG IMG_5296.JPG

After dinner, we hung out in the living room by the fire with my sister, Pat, and a few of their friends.

IMG_5297.JPG

We had a great time! There were lots of laughs!

IMG_5290.JPG

I also got to sample a new-ish beer from Harpoon: Ginger Wheat. The flavor was super gingery– it would be great paired with sushi!

Ask Me Anything

Your questions are crazy! Not exaggerating, I’ve received at least 30 questions about if/when Mal and I will have children– and I know they’re not all from my mom!

Here are a few more responses:

I’ve always wondered…how did you and your hubby meet?

Mal and I met in high school back in 1998. You can read our story here.

What does Mal do for a living?

Mal is a high school history teacher. You can see a photo of his classroom here!

What is Mal’s real name? Is it short for something?

Mallory

How many calories do you eat per day?

Currently (and while losing weight), I eat 1800-2200 calories per day.

Where did you get your plaid gray scarf?

I bought it from a street vendor in New York City.

P.S. Check out my FAQs for more responses to your questions.

GOOD NIGHT!!!

I LOVE renovating houses. My parents bought a OLD home and totally renovated it to rent out. They bought a bunch of appliances on Craigslist and painted it all down.

Cosy!!

Not fair– you still didn’t answer the kids question! :-) Ugh– people started asking us that the DAY after our wedding, I swear!

I am always SO majorly impressed with anyone who can do home rennovations like that– it looks like your sis and her hub are doing a great job!

A couple of days ago I came across the most amazing home remodeling/decorating blog by a young (gorgeous) couple that seem to be the King & Queen of DYI. It is http://www.younghouselove.com (I’m newly obsessed w/ their blog!)

You might want to share the site w/ your sister–as a new homeowner, I’m sure she’ll go gaga over it!

Congrats to your sister and her husband! A new home is exciting :)

That pizza looks SO good  Want.

I’m so relieved to hear that you eat 1800-2200 calories a day AND you’re losing. I see so many people around blogs and otherwise eating so little and doing so much exercise. You’re a great example of living to healthy, balanced lifestyle. Kudos to you. :D

out of curiosity, why haven’t you and Mal bought a house? Instead of moving from one apartment to the next?

I got so excited when I saw that you ate at SANTORO’S because there is one in Saugus, where my dad is from. They make the BEST meatball subs and classic italians.

Yay for buying a house!!! You and your sister should watch the HGTV channel and watch PROPERTY VIRGINS! It is such a cool show and you learn a lot especially if you are a first time home buyer.
Happy Friday T!
