Kelly’s Cake Off for a Cause

February 10, 2010

How gorgeous is this cake?!? I helped make it!  Sabrina, Joseline, and I teamed up to create this beauty.

All of the cakes created at the Cake Off can be viewed online at Kelly Confidential and you can vote for your favorite. Please vote for our cake!!! ;-)

Isn’t it pretty!?

Yesterday was the most amazing day! I participated in Kelly Ripa’s Cake Off for a Cause to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. It was one of the coolest events that I have ever attended.

CakeOff_LOGO_Final.JPG

Buddy Valastro of “The Cake Boss” attended the event, too! He was incredibly nice and down-to-earth. He chatted with our team for quite a while.

During the event, the 15 bloggers were split into five teams of three. Each team was assigned a themed cake to recreate. We were “Team Mod Squad.”

We had a blast decorating our cake and playing with the fondant! It was sort of like Play Doh. :-D

Please vote for our Mod Squad cake!!! Voting will continue until the end of February and you can vote once EVERY day. (If you get a “database error” when you try the website, just refresh the page. It should work!)

For every vote cast, Electrolux will donate $1 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. You can also enter to win a new Induction Range from Electrolux by sending a “virtual cake” to a friend. For every “virtual cake” sent, Electrolux will donate another $1.

Buddy and his crew gave us lots of tips and tricks to help us create our cake masterpiece.

And, we got to taste one of Buddy’s cakes right from his shop, Carlo’s Bakery, in Hoboken. It was the most decadent piece of cake– soft and moist with frosting to die for! I almost ate the entire thing– and it was a BIG piece!

Buddy signed my apron! So cool!

Yesterday’s Cake Off event is one that I will never forget. Thank you, Electrolux and Foodbuzz!

Here’s what I love: it’s a giant piece of delicious cake and heck yes you’re going to almost finish it. I love that you’re real, that you eat real, and that you’re honest about it. Thanks. You don’t know how encouraging it is for me to see that it really is okay for me to have dessert. :)

Mmm, I love cake SO much! I went to an event with the guys from “Ace of Cakes” in September and I didn’t expect the cake to taste that good (always assumed it was more about the look/design), but the fondant was surprisingly delicious!
