We have another Body Pump enthusiast!!
Mal absolutely loved tonight’s class! I knew he would!
I’m not sure if Mal really knew what to expect from Body Pump. I mean, he knew that he’d be lifting weights to music, but I sort of think he thought it would be a “girly” group exercise class. So, to make sure that he knew what he was getting into, I shared this comment that I received on the blog with him:
My boyfriend tried Body Pump with me recently. He picked up my warm-up bar and kind of chuckled at me about how light it was. Let’s put it this way- he now calls that class “paralysis” because he was so sore after it (he completely overloaded his bar)! Tell Mal to use lighter weight and work his way up to you! Guys are surprised at how hard the high reps really are!
This comment cracked me up! It pretty much says it all.
Mal took the advice and went light-ish on most tracks, and he still had a really great workout. He used the same weight as me on a few tracks, so, of course, I trashed talked him.

Tonight’s class was a combination of Body Pump 70, 71, and 72. At first, I was a little bummed because I love 72, but after a few tracks, I really started to like the mix. It kept things interesting!

Not surprisingly, right after class, Mal and I each signed up for a new gym membership. I’m glad that I have a Body Pump buddy now!
Dinner
Before leaving for the gym, I made myself a quick dinner. I started with salad topped with chick peas, BBQ Honey KooLoos, and balsamic vinegar.

I also had some leftover Lasagna-Style Baked Ziti.

Salad + pasta.

After the gym, I refueled with a sweet snack: sliced banana + chopped walnuts + agave nectar. Holy yum! I’m definitely adding this snack to my rotation!

Watching the boob-tube and hitting the hay.
Good night!

So glad you got a good laugh from my post and that Mal’s 1st attempt at Body Pump was successful! I actually like when the instructors mix it up- challenges your body when they use different routines!
YAY MAL! My boyfriend is a health and fitness nut and an aspriring personal fitness trainer for youth and I love talking to him about my work outs, especially body pump. I would love love love for him to come to bp but I haven’t been successful yet. THIS is inspiring. If you can get Mal to go…I guess there is hope
Gosh, I can’t wait to get back to Australia and see if my local gym has something like Body Pump! And, you know, find myself a man to go with me…
Hey Tina! I love 72 as well but the squat track KILLS me!!!!! My favorite squat track is the Beautiful by Pink!
I really want to try to get my boy more into working out with me. I think that it would bring up a lot closer. But our schedules are completely opposite pretty much. I think that taking a class together would help us connect with other couples in the area, which would be great!
Wow, that food looks so good! MMM…
