Fun with Cheesecake

The folks from Eli’s Cheesecake Company sent me, not one, but two cheesecakes to sample. Holy yum, but that’s a lot of cheesecake! 8-O It’s a good thing that we invited friends over tonight to share them with Mal and me!

IMG_4744.JPG

To keep the cheesecakes cold, they were each shipped with a package of dry ice inside the box. For a guy like my husband, dry ice = instant entertainment.

The mad scientist immediately whipped out a mixing bowl, filled it with water, and dropped in a couple pieces of dry ice. I felt like I was back in high school Chemistry class!

IMG_4755.JPG

Look at Mal’s face! He’s like a kid on Christmas!

IMG_4757.JPG

Oooooohhh…

IMG_4762.JPG

Ahhhhhhh…

IMG_4765.JPG

Of course, Murphy was very interested in what Dad was doing in the kitchen.

IMG_4767.JPG

Watch out, Murph!

IMG_4771.JPG

Watch out, Mal!

IMG_4774.JPG

And, this is why I love my husband so much. He’s such a kid at heart. It’s hard not to laugh when he’s around.

Oh, yea, in addition to dry ice, the folks at Eli’s sent me two Candy Bar Cheesecakes made with Health Bar. Sounds heavenly! I can’t wait to try them!

Dinner

After playing with dry ice, dinner seems so boring now!

I saved room for cheesecake by eating a smallish dinner tonight. I had a tuna sandwich on toasted whole wheat Sandwich Thins.

IMG_4737.JPG

And some pistachios on the side.

IMG_4738.JPG

Dinner wasn’t the healthiest meal ever, but cheesecake is a priority tonight!

Our friends, Dave and Marie, should be here any minute. I’m excited for our Cheesecake Par-tay!

I would kill for cheesecake to show up at my door- a girl can only dream of such happening!

Great shots of the hubby, my boyfriend would do the same thing- such a child, and I love it!

Tina, this looks so fun! I celebrated Friday by making some of your oatmeal raisin bars (with raisins AND chocolate chips…questionable, but they turned out good!). Such a great recipe, they are my favorite thing to bake! And they made a great pre-dinner snack/post dinner dessert :)

Don’t know if you still have dry ice left but if Mal wants to have more fun, put the bowl in the sink and add a few drops of dishwashing detergent to the water and watch the bubbles appear! When you pop them, smoke comes out!

I work in a lab and sometimes we do that kind of stuff for fun. The guys tend to favor making dry ice bombs but I would not recommend it! Too scary and loud and still potentially dangerous!

    Enjoy the cheesecake!

When I saw that they were made with “Health” bars, I thought – “How interesting, a healthy version of a candy bar cheesecake.”

I’m glad that wasn’t the case. Some things should remain rich, creamy, indulgent and a real treat.

I got some dry ice last Spring and we had a ball with it. Putting it in the toilet was funny, but sealing it in a water bottle and letting it explode was a whole other story. We couldn’t find the pieces of the bottle afterward.
