Fun with Cheesecake
The folks from Eli’s Cheesecake Company sent me, not one, but two cheesecakes to sample. Holy yum, but that’s a lot of cheesecake!
It’s a good thing that we invited friends over tonight to share them with Mal and me!

To keep the cheesecakes cold, they were each shipped with a package of dry ice inside the box. For a guy like my husband, dry ice = instant entertainment.

TheĀ mad scientist immediately whipped out a mixing bowl, filled it with water, and dropped in a couple pieces of dry ice. I felt like I was back in high school Chemistry class!

Look at Mal’s face! He’s like a kid on Christmas!

Oooooohhh…

Ahhhhhhh…

Of course, Murphy was very interested in what Dad was doing in the kitchen.

Watch out, Murph!

Watch out, Mal!

And, this is why I love my husband so much. He’s such a kid at heart. It’s hard not to laugh when he’s around.
Oh, yea, in addition to dry ice, the folks at Eli’s sent me two Candy Bar Cheesecakes made with Health Bar. Sounds heavenly! I can’t wait to try them!

Dinner
After playing with dry ice, dinner seems so boring now!
I saved room for cheesecake by eating a smallish dinner tonight. I had a tuna sandwich on toasted whole wheat Sandwich Thins.

And some pistachios on the side.

Dinner wasn’t the healthiest meal ever, but cheesecake is a priority tonight!

Our friends, Dave and Marie, should be here any minute. I’m excited for our Cheesecake Par-tay!

I was always intrigued with dry ice when I was little! I’d do the same.

Tuna salad, pistachios, cheesecake, and dry ice–can I have your life?

on Feb 5th, 2010 at 7:23 pm
I would kill for cheesecake to show up at my door- a girl can only dream of such happening!
Great shots of the hubby, my boyfriend would do the same thing- such a child, and I love it!
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
Ooooh Eli’s is the best! You can really taste all the ingredients in it, so good! Of course, I may be a bit biased seeing as I’m from Chi-town myself.

Cute seahorse plate!
Those pictures are hysterical! I love that the husbands can still be boys sometimes. Definitely keeps things fun!

You’ll have to give us a full cheesecake review – enjoy!

Tina, this looks so fun! I celebrated Friday by making some of your oatmeal raisin bars (with raisins AND chocolate chips…questionable, but they turned out good!). Such a great recipe, they are my favorite thing to bake! And they made a great pre-dinner snack/post dinner dessert

Fun! I love the look on Mal’s face — having a sense of humor is the #1 most important thing in a mate, I think.
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 7:36 pm
LOL that is too cute! I love his expression!
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 7:37 pm
WOW– two cheesecakes?!? Yum yum yum! Definitely one of my favorite desserts out there!
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 7:44 pm
I’m a chemistry grad student and usually read your blog when I have downtime in the lab. I always use dry ice but still find it fascinating! Those cheesecakes looked yummy!
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 7:45 pm

Oh cheesecake is my favorite – and heath bars – yum!
Dry ice looks like fun. Sounds like a good Friday night all around.
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 8:16 pm
That candy bar cheesecake seems like HEAVEN!
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 8:29 pm
Don’t know if you still have dry ice left but if Mal wants to have more fun, put the bowl in the sink and add a few drops of dishwashing detergent to the water and watch the bubbles appear! When you pop them, smoke comes out!
I work in a lab and sometimes we do that kind of stuff for fun. The guys tend to favor making dry ice bombs but I would not recommend it! Too scary and loud and still potentially dangerous!
Enjoy the cheesecake!

LOL love those pictures of Mal playing with the dry ice. So funny!

As a science nerd I have to say playing with dry ice= Highlight of my evening. Never mind how lame that sounded. Have fun this evening!
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 9:08 pm
I can see my husband doing the same thing! Haha, I loved those pictures of Mal — they made my night
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 9:11 pm
Those cheesecakes look so rich! (read: DELISH!) :> Maybe you can come up with a healthy cheesecake recipe for us…my husband loves the stuff but I never make it!
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 9:17 pm

on Feb 5th, 2010 at 9:23 pm

Can’t wait to hear about those cheesecakes! Glad you guys are making an “event” out of it with friends
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 9:39 pm
Umm…how can I get them to send me two cheesecakes to sample????
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 9:57 pm
When I saw that they were made with “Health” bars, I thought – “How interesting, a healthy version of a candy bar cheesecake.”
I’m glad that wasn’t the case. Some things should remain rich, creamy, indulgent and a real treat.
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 10:10 pm
My husband loves that kind of stuff! Dry ice and cheesecake! Too much fun tonight!
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 11:03 pm
I got some dry ice last Spring and we had a ball with it. Putting it in the toilet was funny, but sealing it in a water bottle and letting it explode was a whole other story. We couldn’t find the pieces of the bottle afterward.
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 11:26 pm
dry ice!!! so cool.
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 11:30 pm
I really like the people at Eli’s. They are very kind and open in sharing about both their process (nice tours), and the quality of their food (see your sample). Yum@
on Feb 5th, 2010 at 11:33 pm
I love the picture of Mal’s face…hehe! Made me smile
on Feb 6th, 2010 at 12:00 am
Holy yum that cheesecake looks delicious!
on Feb 6th, 2010 at 1:18 am
Haha, I’d be too scared to play with dry ice myself, but if someone else would do the handling – sure!
on Feb 6th, 2010 at 9:06 am
Mal is HILARIOUS!
No wonder you’re married! My boyfriend is also a kid at heart, so lucky us
on Feb 6th, 2010 at 9:10 am
