So, we had a little change of plans this afternoon.
Mal and I were supposed to meet his parents in Harvard Square to see the Hasty Pudding performance, but we got caught up at home with the Sears repairmen. Our washer has been broken for a couple of weeks now, so the repair guys came out this afternoon to fix it. They were running late and the repair took longer than expected, so we had to cancel our plans.

Mal and I were bummed about missing the show, but somehow his parents finagled switching our tickets to next weekend. Sweet!

Not going to the Hasty Pudding show was actually a blessing in disguise.
Mal and I had time to set up the “guest room” for Beth and Corey.

And, we had time to go to the gym, which was a pleasant surprise considering how busy we were today!
Workout
At the gym, I did a treadmill workout, which varied speeds between 6.5 mph and 7.1 mph. I covered 3.3 miles in 30 minutes. After running, I did some crunches on the ball and stretched before heading home.
Snack
Once I showered and “prettied” myself, it was time for Happy Hour. Mal and I broke out a bottle of Dry Pear Wine from Nashoba Valley Winery.

The Dry Pear Wine was really good, but I think I like the winery’s Riesling better. I never thought I’d say that about a Riesling!

We’re grabbing a late dinner with Beth and Corey, so while we enjoyed our wine, Mal and I snacked on some Triscuits and Blue Cheese Skinny Dip to hold off our hunger.

Mmm… wine!

Ask Me Anything
You guys have asked some great questions! So far Ask Me Anything hasn’t been that scary!
If it was your last meal ever, what would you have?
French bread, stinky cheese, and Chardonnay.
What does Mal eat in a day (besides PB&J for lunch)?
Typically, he eats oatmeal or frozen waffles for breakfast. Lunch is PB & J with Kettle Chips. His snacks include chocolate chip granola bars, apples, bananas, and pistachios. He usually eats the same dinner as I do. He’s also an iced coffee and water fanatic like his wife.
What time do you typically go to sleep/wake up?
I try to be in bed by 9 PM and asleep by 9:30/10 PM. I wake up at 6 AM unless I am working on my book and then I wake up at 4:29 AM.
How did you get your job at NuVal?
Melissa of A Better Bag of Groceries contacted me through Carrots ‘N’ Cake about writing a guest post for my blog. NuVal sounded really interesting, but once I realized that they were a local company, I wanted to become involved somehow. Basically, I “pitched myself” to them. You can read the whole story here.
Where did you get that awesome straw that’s in all of our pictures of your iced coffee? I’m obsessed with it!
They’re from cheftools.com and so cool!
Does Mal read your blog everyday?
Yes, he reads it at least once a day.

I couldn’t imagine getting up at 4:29! You’re one devoted author
Sounds like your change of plans were for the better! Enjoy your dinner out and time with your guests!
So glad you could reschedule the show!! I’m lovin’ these answers. I love that straw you have!
Gah – waking up at 4:29 sounds soo early. Do you go to bed earlier on those nights?
I know you probably get a lot of Mal questions, but your post today made me want to know how often Mal goes to the gym? And do you two go together a lot?
I think it’s cute that you guys went together today!
Riesling is one of the only wines that I like! The pictures of the repair men crack me up… they’re like paparazzi photos!
maybe you should add the straw to your Open Sky store!
Looks like it all turned out okay in the end!
I didn’t think I liked Rieslings either but I had one in Napa last month and it was fantastic!
Hope you all enjoy your evening!
@Julie: Oh, I’ve tried!
gah how do you get up so early?!??!! i get up at 5:45 on school days and i feel so sluggish…lol
Sleep at 9:30/10pm!! very good habit that hard for me to follow! haha
Isn’t it nice to think of a change of plans as a blessing in disguise?
It sure does make the big picture look a lot better!
Enjoy your time with your friends!!
Haha I love that it’s 4:29 am and NOT 4:30!
That sucks you had to miss the show! I love that you were taking pictures of the repair men lol! Have a great dinner!
Just looking at Murphy’s crate. Does he really spend the whole night in there without causing any commotion?
That’s so cute that your hubby reads your blog every day! I can get my parents to read mine once a week…if I’m lucky lol
I like the new addition of the Q&A =)
Have fun!
French bread would totally be in my last meal too!
I have a question for your Q&A – how tall are you?
I’m always flabbergasted to hear that you don’t like Reislings. They are my fave!! To each their own, though!
Everything happens for a reason…glad everything worked out for you! I think my last meal would be a steak dinner from Ruth’s Chris.
Your guest room is beautiful!!!
@Janet (Pantry Bites): He doesn’t sleep in his crate at night.
I never set my alarm for an “even” time! Somehow it makes getting up early more bearable!
Really enjoying the Q&A section!
Your guest bedroom looks lovely – hope you have a fun time with your guests
I love that you “pitched” yourself to nuVal. It really gives me hope that you can make of your life what you want
Great Q&A session today! Have a wonderful time with your guests! Perfect that the washing machine is in working order again- nothing like being “hung out to dry.” (Sorry, that’s the best I could do in the laundry joke department!)
i bet the repair dudes would be surprised to find themselves on your blog!!
Hasty? Hasty Pudding?
I love that you wake up at 4:29 if you’re working on the book
I like odd numbers.
