No Title Tuesday

January 26, 2010

It’s crazy to think that I’ve written almost 2,000 blog posts in the nearly 2 years that I have been blogging. 2,000!?! Along with all of those blog posts, I’ve managed to come up with just as many titles, which, for me, is the toughest part! But, today, the creative juices just weren’t flowing, so I apologize for my lame post title this afternoon. :-?

How do you get your creative juices flowing?

Workout

I am so glad that I fit in a workout before work this morning. I love crossing it off my list first thing, so then I have the rest of the day to do whatever I want. :-D

Today’s workout was divided between the treadmill and elliptical– the best of both worlds! ;-) I started on the treadmill with a 30 minute-run, which varied speeds from easy to medium to hard (EMH). After my run, I jumped on the elliptical for 15 minutes and read Real Simple. There are SO MANY good recipes in this month’s issue!

30-Minute EMH Treadmill Run

Incline: 1%
Distance: ~3.25 miles

  • 00:00 – 05:00: 6.2 mph
  • 05:00 – 07:00: 6.3 mph
  • 07:00 – 09:00: 6.6 mph
  • 09:00 – 11:00: 6.3 mph
  • 11:00 – 13:00: 6.6 mph
  • 13:00 – 15:00: 6.3 mph
  • 15:00 – 17:00: 6.6 mph
  • 17:00 – 19:00: 6.3 mph
  • 19:00 – 21:00: 7.0 mph
  • 21:00 – 23:00: 6.3 mph
  • 23:00 – 25:00: 7.0 mph
  • 25:00 – 27:00: 6.3 mph
  • 27:00 – 30:00: 6.2 mph

Snack

After the gym, I headed home, showered-up, and snacked on a Homemade Re(Fuel) Bar from my stash in the refrigerator. These babies are filling!

Lunch

Today’s lunch was leftovers from my “Just Add Beer” Chicken recipe that Mal and I ate for dinner the other night. The flavors definitely had some time to soak in– the leftovers were so much better than the original meal. Don’t ya love that? The same thing happens with chili! :-D

IMG_4098.JPG

Also with lunch, I had an Arbonne Figure Vanilla Protein Shake that a reader sent me to try. She actually sent me two flavors– chocolate and vanilla– but Mal drank the chocolate one before I even had a chance. Oh, husbands! Mal said he liked it though! ;-)

I thought that the vanilla flavor was just so-so. I loved that it had 20 grams of protein and kept me full for a few hours, but the taste wasn’t fantastic. It was sort of artificial-tasting and chalky? I guess I prefer to make my own protein smoothies from scratch.

And, finally, I enjoyed a sweet, crisp Jazz apple with lunch.

Snack

After lunch, I munched on three Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies that someone brought into the office to share. I think they were Girl Scout cookies.

And, when I got home from NuVal, I sliced up a banana and added a big scoop of peanut butter to it. Hopefully, it holds off my hunger until dinnertime.

Afternoon agenda:

  • Conference call with Open Sky
  • Long walk with Murphy
  • Chat with our landlord

Happy Tuesday, bloggies! 8-)

Titles are hard for me too. I’m a freelance writer, so I literally write all day long in addition to my blog and the book I’m also writing. By the night time post, my reservoir for creativity is running low.

I hate that chalky protein taste. So many of the higher protein shakes have that. I love the “just add beer” chicken. Hope your day is productive!

I love your treadmill workouts! I get so bored just running or walking at the same pace. It’s amazing how just varying your incline a degree every minute can make it fly by!

I am always afraid I’ll run out of stuff to blog about, but I have SO much to say…! lol

I always figure out my title last and sometimes it takes me longer than writing out a post!

A banana with PB is one of my all-time favorite snacks. It’s actually the best thing for me to eat before a workout because it gives a big boost of sugar and has some sticking power.

Those are my favorite Girl Scout Cookies…the peanut butter sandwiches! Those and the shortbreads! I know traditionally people seem to go for the Thin Mints but not me! :)

I’m impressed with your run! I got on the treadmill for the first time in a loooong time yesterday and couldn’t make it above 6mph. Hopefully I’ll improve with time.

You have me craving banana and PB now. Yum!

I feel like all of those protein-shake type drinks always taste chalky to me…I’d rather get my protein elsewhere!

ARGHGHG!!! GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!!!!

wow 2000!! You are my bloggie inspiration! I hope one day I get to 2000 (and still have readers..it would be mega depressing to write 2000 posts just to myself :( )
Great workout and eats too, you do have some great stuff :D

I honestly cannot imagine being at 2000 blog posts . . . then again, I only post once a day!

Wow, 2000 posts is an impressive number! I got my run in this morning (despite 15 degrees temperature), and it just feels so good for the rest of the day! I will have to hit the gym for speed work, considering the snow on the ground… Good job staying on the machines for 45 min… I’m aiming for 30 + weights :-)

awesome mileage on that treadmill..hope I can work up to that :)

What a great treadmill workout – I did a very similar one this morning – I would raise and lower the speed based on commercials or stories on the Today show. Kept me entertained.

Congrats on reaching 2,000 blog posts – thats an amazing accomplishment!

I tend to think of title for posts while out and then text them to myself. If I have to come up with them in front of the computer screen I blank.

I love your blog! Great ideas for eating healthy. I know my comment should be about the blog itself but in your “Short and Sweet” post, I noticed the cute silver straw that you are using. Where did you get that?! (Sorry, that my post was soooo off topic).

I know what you mean about crossing things off your list early in the day! I tend to procrastinate a lot as far as workouts are concerned and I am now considering working out before work too.

I agree with other commenters about the coffee! But sometimes just walking away and coming back to something is all you can do.

2000 titles!! That really is a big accomplishment. I only have a little of 200 posts and several of them are titled “Can’t think of a creative title…” And I agree with you, I love the feeling of getting the workout done first thing in the morning, although it’s something I rarely do.

Lia January 26, 2010 at 8:17 pm

i like to take myself on artists dates (a la julia cameron’s “the artist’s way”) whenever i’m feeling creatively blocked. basically anything goes – a movie, a museum, a walk in someplace beautiful – must be by myself, though – it usually does the trick. amazing what can come up in moments of silence. (man i sound new age-y)

Girl scout cookies rock! :D

And I agree, I prefer home made smoothies with protein over a store bought shake.. hate the artificial taste.
