Tonight was a soup kind of night.
Mal and I took Murphy for a 45-minute walk around the neighborhood, and by the time we got home, I was chilled to the bone!
My hands, feet, and face were totally frozen! I didn’t shower after my trip to the gym (ick), so I immediately took the hottest shower ever– and it felt amazing!!! Then, I got into my PJs, made soup, and sat on the couch while eating it. It was the perfect way to end such a cold adventure! I definitely have a new appreciation for soup.
My soup of choice for the evening: Wolfgang Puck’s Organic Thick Hearty Vegetable.

I’m sure if it was because I was starving, but I absolutely loved this flavor of soup and there were tons of chunky vegetables in the mix. It totally hit the spot and filled me up.

On the side, I had a few piece of French bread for dipping.

And, for dessert, I enjoyed two Sandwich Thins with Teddie peanut butter and chocolate chips. I can’t get enough of this treat!

I’m writing one more embarrassing story for my editor and then taking the rest of the night off. Rumor has it that there is a new Modern Family on tonight? I really hope so because it’s the most HILARIOUS show ever!
G’night!

That after dinner “treat” looks soooo yummy! I regularly have an after dinner treat of honey graham goldfish topped with a scoop of peanut butter & some dark chocolate chips – something about that combination is just FABULOUS : )
Sounds so cozy ! A hot shower , PJ’s ,and hot soup ! Heaven on a cold night like tonight!
I LOVE Modern Family! It never fails to crack me up…Cam is my favorite
Hope you have a great night!
I tried the peanut butter with a sandwich thin – I toasted the thin to make it crispy and then put it in the microwave to melt the chocolate YUMMMMY!
Soup is the only thing I want in the winter! You can NEVER go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate!
I’m so gonna try your after dinner treat yummmm
It is definitely a soup night!
You can’t go wrong with PB & Chocolate
That’s one of my fav. desserts too
Yes! There is a new Modern Family!!
I was in the mood for soup tonight too….. cold weather definitely does that to you !
Soup & bread does the trick on a chilly day.
I always either shower at the gym or procrastinate for hours when I get home. (Ick indeed.) Dessert looks fab. I have to decide if I can handle keeping a whole bag of chocolate chips in my house…
I totally stole your dessert idea tonight and loved it! New favorite treat, I think.
There is something so healing about hot showers! I love them so much I don’t care about the drying factor it has on your skin! Thanks for sharing the article
I’ll definitely have to try your snack. You’ve had it quite a bit lately so it must be really good! I’ve actually decided on having soup once a week until it gets warm again. I love homemade soups in the winter time!
I love soup! Sooo good with sour cream, cheese, chips, crackers, or grilled cheese! :>
Thanks for sharing the link to the article about the secrets of motivated people. I really liked #2 “Channel the Little Engine That Could – Really.” It’s so true!
So many times I don’t shower after cardio and end up freezing!
soup looks great – haven’t tried that flavor of wolfgangs yet!!
I had just fixed toast with PB and was about to eat it while I read your blog. I added the chocolate chips and it was amazing! Thanks for the suggestion.
thanks for the link to the article – i love real simple but i haven’t picked up a hard copy in forever.
Mmmm… Wolfgang Puck soups are so good. I have a serious love for the tortilla one.
Although it is freezing tonight, for some reason I chose to have a cold dinner. Possibly the wrong idea.
I’m with you, Modern Family is amazing! Have you seen Community yet? It is similarly humored.
I really should watch Modern Family – I’ve heard good stuff about it!! I like The Middle that comes on before it
. I wish I would start “listening to myself” more…
I am also a Physical Therapist, and have a degree in Kinesiology. I am also in the middle of taking a Yoga Training Course…I feel that I have much to offer.
Nice meal…I wish I went with something simple like that – I had salmon just because I had leftovers in my fridge…but I so did not want it and I hate when I do that…oh well – such is life I guess
Great dessert though!
I read your articles on Health.com…I know you probably get asked this alot…but how could I possibly get a writing job like this??!!! I’ve written to the Editors, etc…but noone seems to respond or take me seriously I guess. My DREAM is just to write – badly
I am also trying to search for peace and happiness in life – and have been blogging about it…my search for “happiness”…I feel this might be interesting to contribute to the magazine…but again, I end up nowhere.
Please – again I’m sure you get this all the time, and I don’t mean to be ‘typical’ – but ANY advice, anything, or an email/advice/contact information even would be extremely, extremely appreciated.
God Bless you. (oh Modern Family is just starting!)
I’m watching(and loling at) the new Modern Family right now
My office is chilly so I’ve been wearing my underarmor under my work shirt and eating soup and drinking lots of tea…really warms me up.
I’ve done the no shower thing before and I agree…Ick!
I’m glad someone else loves MF as much as me! I laugh my BUTT off, I absolutely love that show! My husband thinks I’m crazy for laughing the way I do, but I can’t help it!
Your evening sounds wonderful, especially with that soup!
I’ve been on my own little soup kick! http://foyupdate.blogspot.com/2009/12/soup-day.html
I love soup on a super cold frigid day.
I heart Modern Family! Sooo good- just watched it!
Oooh…that sounds sooo good. A great way to spend an evening
Oh, soup is such a good wintertime dinner! I love Modern Family, too.
I love soup in the winter. So filling and comforting. Try this mushroom barley soup I just made: http://twopeasandtheirpod.com/mushroom-barley-soup/
I’ve had a lot of soup lately as well, nothing better in the cold. Just wish I felt like making it, the cans are just so convenient!
Soup and bread is the perfect dinner on a cold night! I need to try that snack of yours, I have a pack of sandwich thins in the fridge waiting to be used up.
I’ve eaten that dessert a couple times this week too! It’s such a good dessert. I love peanut butter and chocolate. Whoever put those two together was a genius!!
Love love LOVE modern family!!
Love soup in the winter!
WOW! Everyone is eating soup today. I really want soup now. I have never had the Wolfgang Puck soups, but I see them on other blogs a lot. I usually just go with Amy’s or Pacific because I know they are good. I will have to step out of my soup rut and try this one!
That soup looks good. I am always looking for new, delicious, belly-warming soups!
OMG I Love modern family!! I didn’t get to see it tonight but sometimes they replay it on Fridays— can’t wait!
I’ve never seen modern family but Cougar Town makes me laugh out loud every time!
For some reason soup can only fill me up for a short amount of time…I’ll have to give Wolfgang a try!
We love Modern Family too! I watched tonight and had to keep replaying parts (TiVo) just so I could hear it again and laugh just as hard the second and third times.
Hha, like every blog I’ve read today, someone has had soup! It’s obviously the cold, brings it out in people
I love Modern Family too! Such a funny show!
My pantry is full of Amy’s Kitchen soups all winter – a great way to warm up when you don’t have time to cook! I’m also a huge fan of stews during the colder months. I cut up my protein and veggies and store in the fridge over night, then throw them in the crockpot with liquid and spices to cook all day while I’m at work. Adding spinach and lentils makes any stew recipe even better. Mmmm, now I’m hungry.
Okay putting chocolate chips on top of PB is BRILLIANT! Must try ASAP.
There is definitely soup weather here! I’ve never tried that particular brand of soup, but there’s something about having warm soup in your tummy on a cold day that just makes you feel so much better.
I’m really bad about walking my dog in winter because we have a large fenced in yard. In fact, one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to walk him more.
