New Appreciation for Soup

January 6, 2010

Tonight was a soup kind of night.

Mal and I took Murphy for a 45-minute walk around the neighborhood, and by the time we got home, I was chilled to the bone! :-( My hands, feet, and face were totally frozen! I didn’t shower after my trip to the gym (ick), so I immediately took the hottest shower ever– and it felt amazing!!! Then, I got into my PJs, made soup, and sat on the couch while eating it. It was the perfect way to end such a cold adventure! I definitely have a new appreciation for soup. :-D

My soup of choice for the evening: Wolfgang Puck’s Organic Thick Hearty Vegetable.

I’m sure if it was because I was starving, but I absolutely loved this flavor of soup and there were tons of chunky vegetables in the mix. It totally hit the spot and filled me up.

On the side, I had a few piece of French bread for dipping.

And, for dessert, I enjoyed two Sandwich Thins with Teddie peanut butter and chocolate chips. I can’t get enough of this treat!

9 Secrets of Motivated People

I loved reading this piece from Real Simple: 9 Secrets of Motivated People. Just wanted to share!

I’m writing one more embarrassing story for my editor and then taking the rest of the night off. Rumor has it that there is a new Modern Family on tonight? I really hope so because it’s the most HILARIOUS show ever!

G’night!

That after dinner “treat” looks soooo yummy! I regularly have an after dinner treat of honey graham goldfish topped with a scoop of peanut butter & some dark chocolate chips – something about that combination is just FABULOUS : )

I tried the peanut butter with a sandwich thin – I toasted the thin to make it crispy and then put it in the microwave to melt the chocolate YUMMMMY!

I always either shower at the gym or procrastinate for hours when I get home. (Ick indeed.) Dessert looks fab. I have to decide if I can handle keeping a whole bag of chocolate chips in my house…

I’ll definitely have to try your snack. You’ve had it quite a bit lately so it must be really good! I’ve actually decided on having soup once a week until it gets warm again. I love homemade soups in the winter time! :)

Mmmm… Wolfgang Puck soups are so good. I have a serious love for the tortilla one.

Although it is freezing tonight, for some reason I chose to have a cold dinner. Possibly the wrong idea.

I really should watch Modern Family – I’ve heard good stuff about it!! I like The Middle that comes on before it :)
Nice meal…I wish I went with something simple like that – I had salmon just because I had leftovers in my fridge…but I so did not want it and I hate when I do that…oh well – such is life I guess :( . I wish I would start “listening to myself” more…
Great dessert though!
I read your articles on Health.com…I know you probably get asked this alot…but how could I possibly get a writing job like this??!!! I’ve written to the Editors, etc…but noone seems to respond or take me seriously I guess. My DREAM is just to write – badly :( I am also a Physical Therapist, and have a degree in Kinesiology. I am also in the middle of taking a Yoga Training Course…I feel that I have much to offer.
I am also trying to search for peace and happiness in life – and have been blogging about it…my search for “happiness”…I feel this might be interesting to contribute to the magazine…but again, I end up nowhere.

Please – again I’m sure you get this all the time, and I don’t mean to be ‘typical’ – but ANY advice, anything, or an email/advice/contact information even would be extremely, extremely appreciated.

God Bless you. (oh Modern Family is just starting!)

WOW! Everyone is eating soup today. I really want soup now. I have never had the Wolfgang Puck soups, but I see them on other blogs a lot. I usually just go with Amy’s or Pacific because I know they are good. I will have to step out of my soup rut and try this one!

My pantry is full of Amy’s Kitchen soups all winter – a great way to warm up when you don’t have time to cook! I’m also a huge fan of stews during the colder months. I cut up my protein and veggies and store in the fridge over night, then throw them in the crockpot with liquid and spices to cook all day while I’m at work. Adding spinach and lentils makes any stew recipe even better. Mmmm, now I’m hungry.

There is definitely soup weather here! I’ve never tried that particular brand of soup, but there’s something about having warm soup in your tummy on a cold day that just makes you feel so much better.

I’m really bad about walking my dog in winter because we have a large fenced in yard. In fact, one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to walk him more.
