Never Thought I’d See the Day

January 8, 2010

I’m wearing skinny jeans today, which is definitely a first for me. I resisted the trend for as long as I could, but tall boots call for skinny jeans. I never thought I’d see the day!

I actually sort of like skinny jeans– with tall boots, of course! ;-)

Isn’t this photo very FFF of me? ;-)

Mid-Morning Snack

I’m my way to NuVal this morning, I grabbed a small hot coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts (milk, light on the sugar) to enjoy at my desk.

Lunch

I kept lunch on the lighter side today. You’ll see why in a minute! ;-)

I started with a PaleyBar Fruity Nut Evolution Bar, which was totally delicious. It was packed with nuts and dried fruit, and had a slightly sweet honey flavor. Big fan of this one! :-D

Then, I had some Greek yogurt.

And canned pineapple chunks.

And, finally, dessert!

Check out my Cookie Friday treat!

Oh, yes, I did it. An Old Fashioned Donut from Dunkin’ Donuts!

Ok, so donuts are not exactly a healthy example, but the whole premise behind Carrots ‘N’ Cake is that no food is off-limits. Well, except Red Bull because that stuff is nast-y! Plus, it’s not like I am eating donuts everyday, ya know? As far as calories go, I balance my choices throughout the day. My lunch was a little lighter than usual because I wanted to enjoy a donut this afternoon, so I planned the splurge into my day. Of course, there are a lot of scary ingredients in a Dunkin’ Donuts donut, but as long as I don’t make it a habit, what’s the big deal?

Mal and I planned a dinner date for tonight, which is part of the reason that I wanted to look nice today. I do feel pretty stylish in my skinny jeans and boots. ;-)

And, I just want to say that I have exciting news for you guys on Monday. I can’t wait to tell ya!

Cute outfit/boots! TGIF and enjoy the date night. I’m all about everything in moderation and nothing being off-limits. Good for you on the donut, I imagine it was delicious. Being a West Coaster-there are no dunkin donuts in my neck of the woods but I hear they are fabulous.

Ew I hate redbull too- disgusting! Love the boots/jeans! You should try wearing a pair with heels- you may surprise yourself and like how it looks!

You look great! I was the same about skinny jeans…until Winter rolled around and I was annoyed that I had nothing to tuck into my boots. :)

Tina, this post is exactly why I identify with you. I too base my blog/eating/lifestyle on balance. We run so we can eat. We chose salad so we can splurge later. We make our choices thoughtfully. Now I want a donut. haha.

I love your jeans/boots! I’ve been wanting a pair of tall boots but I know first you need the jeans…and I can’t find a pair of skinny jeans that looks good on me! Alas, I guess I am not destined to be a part of this particular fashion trend. :(

You might consider getting a travel coffee mug to keep in your car. Then when you stop at Dunkin’ Donuts you can ask for a refill. It’s cheaper AND reduces waste. You do such a good job leading by example with your diet and exersize, here’s one more feather for your cap.

I resisted that style trend for a very long time as well! I finally broke down in October and bought one pair. I’ve worn them a few times, but I don’t think you could say it’s a staple in my wardrobe. I’ll do it, but it’s not me 100%.

brandi January 8, 2010 at 5:00 pm

I thought the same thing! but once I tried them on with my boots, I was sold. Now I have 3 pairs of skinny jeans and new pair of black skinny cordouroys that I LOVE :)

date night sounds fun!

I’ve been trying to avoid the skinny jean look because I do not have “skinny” legs, but I desperately want to try this look. I think I might just have to go shopping soon – I do have Christmas returns to make!

I meant to say (before I accidentally hit the send button without finishing…….) I LOVE your philosophy on food: Not labeling them GOOD or BAD and like you just said no food is off limits (or you will go crazy once you two are alone!) when eaten in moderation. PLUS, to enjoy the food you eat and not force yourself to eat things you do not like b/c it will backfire. I also like how you incorporate a balance of exercise into your lifestyle as well and are not a “gym rat” but get exercise in other forms as well. Compared to some of the other bloggers in the healthy lifestyle category you seem to be the most down to earth, easy going, fun and approachable one of them all! Thank you for being such a positive role model for women like us who struggle with accepting our bodies and living a healthy, happy balanced lifestyle!! :)

You look great!

You know, I wasn’t sure about skinny jeans either but once I bought a pair I decided I really loved them. They are actually really comfortable and look nice with lots of outfits and both boots and flats. Plus, I find them to be a bit warmer in this cold weather, even with flats on. I guess the cold air has a harder time getting up into the pant legs. The heat from your legs keeps the pants warmer against your skin also.

One of my favorite outfits is skinny jeans, tall flat boots or cute flats, a snug sweater like what you’re wearing, and then a short, fitted, lined jacket on top. Kind of like this: http://www.splendicity.com/styleitless/files/2009/01/jennifer-love-heweitt-double-breasted-coat-lookforless-thumb.jpg . My jacket is a little more militaristic. It’s a very clean look.

Another outfit I like is skinny jeans, black flats, and a black fitted long-sleeved zip-up running top. It’s sort of fitness meets fashion. I’ve gotten some nice compliments on it.

Very cute and trendy. I agree boots need skinny jeans. But I tried on some Levis Skinny and I concern myself tall and pretty thin but the 8 were way small and way to low. What kind do have ?

They look good. I could never find a pair that didn’t make me look like an upside down triangle, but finally did at Old Navy of all places. Love the boots too. Where did you get them?
