Goals for 2010

I can’t believe that I didn’t write a post about my goals for 2010. What’s wrong with me?! I’m all about setting goals for myself. Last year, I wrote a post about my goals for 2009, and looking back, it looks like I achieved them all– minus the stretching thing. ;-)

My goals for 2010:

  • Beat my 5K PR time
  • Submit the first draft of my book on time (4/1/10)
  • Continue to save 12% of income
  • Increase blog traffic by 40%
  • Shape up for my 30th birthday (more info about this next week! ;-) )

And my favorite goal for 2010:

  • Each night before saying good night, share one thing for which I am grateful (or something that just makes me happy) with my husband. Sometimes, I get too wrapped up in all of the negative stuff– I want 2010 to be positive all around.

While we’re talking about goals (and resolutions), I thought I’d share this mantra that I ripped out of last month’s Self magazine. I hung it on my I Love You, Blogs and Coffee poster right behind my laptop. It’s a constant reminder to work hard for the changes I want in my life.

Breakfast

This morning’s breakfast didn’t turn out how I had hoped. I wanted to make a sweet, faux crepe using egg whites, vanilla extract, and brown sugar, but the idea sort of blew up in my face.

The “crepe” tasted good, but it didn’t look pretty. When I went to flip it over, it broke into 5 or 6 pieces, so it sort of looked like brown scrambled eggs. Not that appetizing, right? I’m not one to waste food, so I ate it anyway.

IMG_2072.JPG

I topped my egg white crepe with cinnamon pears and a squirt of agave nectar.

IMG_2079.JPG

I also drank some iced coffee with breakfast.

IMG_2081.JPG

Perhaps I’ll give this faux crepe thing a try again later. I think I have an idea to make it stay together.

While drinking my iced coffee, I grabbed a chocolate to eat. I love the combo of coffee + chocolate. Delish!

Lots on the agenda today:

  • Clean desk
  • Guest post for Calorie-Count.com
  • Dog park
  • Gym
  • Grocery shopping
  • Laundry
  • Book writing!!! (I’m really behind!)

You might like this idea…every night before we go to bed, my husband and I write a notes thanking the other person for this or that and making general comments about the day. It’s often a hassle but it does make you appreciate the other person. It was actually my husband’s idea.

Wonderful goals! I need to work on the stretching thing too! I’m getting better at it though! The mantra is great! I hate it when people whine about how bad their lives are, yet they don’t do anything to change it!

Your goals are fab! I have a Goals for 2010 post coming out too, but I haven’t quite gotten it how I want it yet…Sometimes it’s hard to put your goals out there for fear that you won’t hit them and then everyone will know, but I need that extra push to keep me motivated. Enjoy 30…I have found it to be better than my 20′s already and it’s only been since May!!

I think those are great goals. Being more positive is one that I’m going to work on as well. Someone told me “If all husbands and wives would make it a goal to treat their spouse better than their spouse treats them, how much better would our marriages be?” and I that is my goal for 2010, to treat my husband better than he treats me…it’s going to be a lot to life up to, but I’m looking forward to trying. :)

I turn 30 in 3 months and have a lot I want to accomplish before then. I can’t wait to see what your plans are!

Love the gratitude goal. My roommate always suggests I keep a notebook on my night stand because my mind is always going so crazy, it’s hard for me to fall asleep. Maybe in addition to writing down all the thoughts going through my head, I’ll also write down something I’m grateful for. Great idea!

Love your goals for 2010! My boyfriend and I do the same thing…since we have been doing long distance for the last two years, it feels like we only share the bad stuff so I started asking him to tell me “1 good thing that happened to you today” and then we focus on the positive more than the negative!
