Feelin’ Much Better
A trip to the gym was just what the doctor ordered.
I feel a million times better now. I guess I just needed to sweat out some of that booze.
Workout
Lately, I’ve been slacking off with theĀ training program for my upcoming 5K, but I’m back on track now. Yesterday, I ran 2 miles in 17:09, and today I did some upper body strength training and hopped on the elliptical for 45 minutes. It felt so good get my blood flowing!
Quickie Upper Body Workout
- Chest press: 15 reps, 3 sets, 45 pounds (bar)
- Assisted chin-ups: 8 reps, 3 sets, 65 pounds
- Assistant dips: 10 reps, 3 sets, 65 pounds
I used the Gravitron for the assisted chin-ups and dips. I forgot how much I like using this machine. You’ll probably see a lot more of it on the blog in the future.
Dinner
What to make for dinner tonight was an easy decision: SALAD! I needed nutritious food in my body ASAP.
Yummy salad toppings included: Oregonzola Blue Cheese.

Grandma-made candied pecans.

And a whole slew of veggies:
- Romaine lettuce
- Cucumber
- Red onion
- Cinnamon-baked sweet potato
- Carrots

I topped the salad with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. It was quite an amazing salad!

After dinner, I made myself a sweet treat: baked grapefruit. I have no idea where I got the idea to bake a grapefruit, but why not, right?
Here’s what I did:
- Cut a pink grapefruit in half
- Used a grapefruit spoon to cut around the sections
- Sprinkled cinnamon and brown sugar on top of each half
- Baked in the oven for 10 minutes on 350*F and then broiled for another 15 minutes

The end result was a sweet, citrusy grapefruit. The cinnamon was a wonderful flavor compliment to the grapefruit.

Youre so clever with the grapefruit! I LOVE health works but cannot afford a monthly membership there. I’ve gone once and felt like I was at the spa. Working out with only women makes things much more comfortable. One day….

Jeez what doesn’t your Grandma make?! Baking citrus makes sense since they say to pop them in the microwave for a bit to release the juices. Will have to try the baked grapefruit!

Gorgonzola+pecans sounds like an incredible salad addition
on Jan 2nd, 2010 at 10:44 am
The Gravitron is great! It cracks me up though when I see people with the assistance set so high that they’re practically riding it like an amusement park ride and not working at all.
The baked grapefruit looks delicious!
