Drink and Salvatore’s

January 23, 2010

So, if you didn’t know already, I’m pretty much obsessed with award-winning chef/restauranteur Barbara Lynch. Ever since I attended the Amelia Earhart Award Luncheon last spring, I’ve become her biggest fan. She has the most inspiring story!

Anyway, I finally had the chance to visit Barbara Lynch’s Drink this evening.

Drink was very cool– upscale, modern, and sophisticated. My type of place! ;-)

The service at Drink was pretty amazing. Upon entering the bar, Mal and I were immediately welcomed, directed to a table, and our drink orders taken. I didn’t know people in Boston could be so nice!

My first drink of the evening was a Dirty Vodka Martini. It was perfect.

IMG_3716.JPG

Mmm… olives! :-D

IMG_3720.JPG

A little while later, our dates for the evening arrived: Elina and her husband, Adam!

IMG_3727.JPG

They also ordered some fun drinks, but I don’t think they were nearly as impressed.

IMG_3725.JPG

While sipping our cocktails, we bumped into another Boston-area blogger: Kelly of The Pink Apron. What a fun surprise! It was nice to catch up with her!

IMG_3729.JPG

IMG_3731.JPG

My second drink was a Moscow Mule, which was made with vodka, ginger beer, and lime. The flavor was semi-sweet with a kick to it. I liked it a lot!

IMG_3733.JPG

After a couple of cocktails, Elina, Adam, Mal, and I headed to Salvatore’s for dinner.

IMG_3737.JPG

We started with bread and olive oil for dipping.

IMG_3740.JPG

And, then we ordered a 19″ pizza to share between the four of us. One half of the pizza was Spinach, Tomato, Feta while the other was Buffalo Chicken.

IMG_3742.JPG

I ate a piece from each side, but I especially loved the Buffalo Chicken. There’s just something about alcohol and buffalo sauce that pairs so well together! ;-)

IMG_3747.JPG IMG_3751.JPG

Mal and I had an awesome night with Elina and Adam! Hopefully, you’ll see more of them on CNC in the future.

I am exhausted (and full of pizza), so I’m heading straight to bed!

G’night! :-D

You need to go to Drink on a non-weekend night. Much better, intimate experience; you really get to talk to the barkeeps and learn about their craft!

Looks like you had a great time.

The bumm thing about living in Oz, is that I don’t get to meet any bloggers…tear. I just have to live through all of yours.

Looks like a fun night! You did a great job of enjoying yourself and having a few drinks, but not overdoing it! Good job, I’m not sure I could have controlled myself that well with that great looking pizza:)

I’m going to have to try a Moscow Mule. I love ginger beer, but I’ve never considered adding alcohol to it!

The Moscow Mule sounds pretty good. I’m not particularly adventurous with drinks but I should really branch out.

Sounds like a fun night! Enjoy the weekend!

Two more restaurants to put on my list! Looks like you had a blast.

I recently made buffalo chicken calzones, which I bet you would enjoy if you liked the pizza.

Have a great weekend, Tina!

Moscow Mules from Drink are THE BEST! I love their gingerbeer; it’s so spicy! I am craving one…too bad I don’t have any plans to come to Boston anytime soon!

I guess Dirty Vodka Martini are the total “in” drink this year. I am just not an Olive fan, however I love VODKA!!

lol…the only thing I like about martinis are the olives!! Sometimes I order them just for that!

That pizza crust looks SO doughy and amazing!

I think it is so awesome how you know all these bloggers in the area, and definitely explains how you’ve been able to reach out to so many people and acquire so many readers. Major kudos for that. Everything looked delicious. Friday was made for pizza and drinks.

On an entirely unrelated note, and one that must have been mentioned by a million others but I’ve never noticed it in your comments–do you watch Greys Anatomy? Because your husband looks like Owen Hunt from the show (Kevin McKidd). Like, not twins, but definitely cousins.

Moscow Mule is my favorite mixed drink! The first time I had it was in Boston…..Texas bartenders don’t seem to know the name–so a little explanation is required.

I love how pizza and drinks can still be a part of your Lose the Dough plan. You practiced moderation but still got to enjoy delicious eats with your friends. Whenever I’ve tried “dieting” in the past, I found that going out just isn’t as fun anymore. Who really wants a side salad with low fat dressing for dinner? NOT ME! I’m so glad I realized I was doing it all wrong. However, I still need to learn to practice moderation like you do. Because when it comes down to it, 99% of the “diet” part of losing weight is portion control. 2 slices of pizza for me very quickly turns into 4…!

Lauren January 23, 2010 at 12:18 pm

Mal is such a good sport for appearing in your blog. I don’t think my hubby would consent to it, he’s a big grump! :) That pizza looks great, but the huge dirty martini looks like the best part of the meal to me. Love those!

Moscow Mule’s are great! There is a place in Denver that serves them in tin cups and calls them Denver Donkey’s. Happy friday!

Adam January 23, 2010 at 12:38 pm

I think Elina was a harsher critic of her drink than me last night :) My margarita was really good, and my second drink, whatever it was called, was extremely unique. I wouldn’t order it again, but I’m glad I tried something funky!

Good times last night!
