Breakfast + Boots

January 8, 2010

Happy Friday! 8-) This week flew, didn’t it? Don’t ya love that!?

I woke up super early again to write my Health post for this coming week. Initially, the words really started to flow, but then I got stuck. :-? I thought maybe I needed some brain fuel, so I went to make breakfast instead. A full stomach always seems to help! ;-)

Breakfast

Mmmmm… oatmeal pancakes! I made an especially delicious one today! :-D  Some mornings, I like oatmeal pancakes better than my usual bowl of oats.

I topped this morning’s oatmeal pancake with banana, agave nectar, and cinnamon. So good!

Hunt for the Perfect Pair

So, do you want to know which pair of boots I took home with me?

IMG_2484.JPG

Well, technically, NONE of them!

It turns out that my size was no longer available in the pair that I wanted at the Walking Company. But, I ordered the Women’s Belfair (in Bouillon) directly from the UGG website. (D. was the correct answer, by the way.) Unfortunately, the boots are backordered until February, but they were easily the best pair of the bunch (functional and fashionable) and totally worth the wait.

Question of the Day

How would you describe your style?

My style is jeans (or suit pants if I gotta) and gap favorite tees, pretty tanks and a bright cotton cardigan, white button downs and pretty necklaces, rainbows or cowboy boots or ballerina slippers or fab heels. Simple, Simple!

oh you sneaky sneaky with the trick question! My style is a little stagnant right now. I really need some new clothes! But typically I’m wearing jeans. It’s just the top that I seem to fuss over everyday. I’m just lacking on the winter wardrobe!

I am definitely going to make that breakfast. It looks phenomenal!!

“D” was my favorite choice!

My style is classic and quirky…. does that make sense? I love mixing classic with vintage :)

Madeline @ Greens and Jeans January 8, 2010 at 8:55 am

Phew! I was worried you were going to get those sweater looking ones that aren’t functional at all (they are cute though)! My style is classic with a twist. Lots of skirts and dresses with boots and blazers. I’m going through a bit of a cowboy boot phase right now (I moved to Phoenix almost a year ago and I think living in the wild wild west is starting to wear off on me).

That breakfast looks incredible Tina! I just think I may have to try this.

Lauren January 8, 2010 at 8:59 am

Good choice on those boots… my regular Uggs are comfy, but sooo NOT waterproof! I bought a fantastic pair of knee-high, shearling-lined, waterproof boots from Sorrel last winter, and I can’t imagine a Boston winter without them.

I guess I go more for the basic Gap/Old Navy look. I really need to venture out in trend land. By the way, I got the best boots when I ordered online from http://www.duo.com I always have problems because my calfs are too skinny (yeah I know, people wish they had this problem but it sucks when boot shopping!!). Anyway you measure your calf so it will properly fit your caft. So if you calfs are on the bigger or smaller size they will customize it to you.

As a fellow New England dog walker I was thinking D was definitely the best choice! They should be awesome!

Yummy breakfast! :-)

Oh Yum! That pancake looks like a great way to start a cold Friday morning! I liked D the best. Sorry it will take so long to get them, but I think they will be worth it! Cute!

Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers January 8, 2010 at 9:30 am

yay! you picked the best ones. :D D was my choice for sure!

my fiance made me laugh once when we described my style as “understated elegance.” i don’t think i’m elegant at all – but i think i am a pretty low maintenance dresser but i still try to maintain a classy look too. i wish i was a funkier dresser!

Oh no about the boots! I hate waiting. At least they are coming…
I need winter boots like woah too.

Oh I’d hate to wait so long for boots!! It’ll make them that much better when you get them though! I’d say my style was wannabe-fashionable but really just relaxed and comfy….hahaa.

nice boots! Too bad you have to wait for them!!

i like your boots!!! hmm my style? I would say lots of workout clothes plus kinda preppy- like gap stuff…some jcrew. etc.

Cute boots! That sucks that you have to wait so long but a good pair of boots is worth the wait. :)

I have a couple friends that were looking for boots but had to order them too . . . oh no I better get on shopping myself, how am I going to survive Toronto for the rest of the winter with my stinky 3 year old boots with the holes in them :(

Reply

elizabeth January 8, 2010 at 9:55 am

Tina! Next time you need boots, come on down to Alec’s in downtown Nashua! Okay, it’s a bit of a ride, BUT you can avoid paying sales tax, their prices are ridiculously cheap (seriously ridiculous, they have the best price on Uggs) ANNNNND you can have lunch at the Seedling Cafe which you would lurv. http://www.theseedlingcafe.com/menu.html

Leah @ L4L January 8, 2010 at 9:58 am

Score! Totally guessed it right!

I think that I don’t have a lot of “style”. I tend to get things that are functional, multi-purpose, and comfortable. I own a couple of fashionable things and rarely wear them.

Nicole (dishin') January 8, 2010 at 10:16 am

I love those boots. Very cute!! I would say my style is classic with a hint of trendy for the most part. I love chunky jewelry and antique peices so I normally dress up my favorite classic peices pretty easily. I do wish style came a little easier to me though. I love when I see people throw outfits together that I’d never think of. I do a lot of layering so I can wear my clothes year round, which helps. Happy Friday!

I loved choice D!

My style is casual and classic…with an edge.

Reply

Danielle (Coffee Run) January 8, 2010 at 10:22 am

Gah, D was me second choice :)
I would describe my current style as “homeless person.” but since I’m going back to school, I’d say it’s more “casual/prep/punk?”

Heather @ (The Single Dish) January 8, 2010 at 10:28 am

D is a good choice they look warm and waterproof. Pancake looks great, a warm breakfast is always good!

Ugh. Boots are my weakness. Put me in that room and I would’ve left with all of them.

My style is pretty casual. I like to be comfortable. I’m a big jeans/sweater/shirt person :)

Kati @ Living Well January 8, 2010 at 10:42 am

I would describe my style as conservative/trendy :> I don’t usually branch out and try the CRAZY stuff but I like to keep up with what’s in style. I like to look cute but I hate just buying what everyone else is wearing..I like to be a little different! ;) Don’t know if that made ANY sense!

Reply

Kati @ Living Well January 8, 2010 at 10:42 am

And love the boots you chose by the way!! I think I would have picked those.

Reply

Katie G January 8, 2010 at 10:47 am

DEF going to try the oatmeal pancakes! Great idea and they looks SO yummy! Hmm, my style is a mix between classis…comfy…casual…I’d say. I like to look nice but if anything is uncomfortable it is not for me!

Reply

K January 8, 2010 at 10:47 am

I don’t know how I’d describe my style. I like to wear a lot of basics so I can mix and match. I guess I’d be classy/timeless? I hate trends and I hate wearing skimpy outfits. Just not me!

Reply

katherine January 8, 2010 at 10:50 am

Totally stinks that you have to wait until February for the boots–especially since Boston will surely get snow between now and then.

I’m not very stylish, but I think I generally dress in a fairly conservative/classic way. The Huz might call it “stuffy” but I think classic is a much nicer way of saying it ;-)

Lauren @ Eater not a runner January 8, 2010 at 10:51 am

Love those boots! Uggs are always a good choice ;-)

Reply

Lu January 8, 2010 at 10:52 am

My style is fun functional. I like most colors, but I don’t like prints. Eek. I wear business casual to work but I usually make it un-stuffy. Love the boots. I would have picked D too.

Jenny January 8, 2010 at 10:58 am

I have been told it’s romantic. But I like to call it preppy vintage. Basically I wear a lot of lace, ruffles, ralph lauren, scarves and riding boots :) It works for me!

Reply

brandi January 8, 2010 at 11:00 am

I was going to guess D! I don’t know what I am, style wise. I like classics, but I also like funky stuff that other people don’t have.

Reply

Jessica @ The Process of Healing January 8, 2010 at 11:03 am

Yay I was totally right! D was my favorite choice as well.

My style is kind of a mix. I like some “preppy” pieces but it’s mostly feminine with my own spin on it. I like comfort but I also like style.

Christina January 8, 2010 at 11:12 am

I love Uggs! I have the coolest pair which are regular Uggs embroidered with all different colors of flowers. I’ve had them for 2 years and they’re still good as new!

Mackenzie @ The College Authentic January 8, 2010 at 11:19 am

Ah, boots are just divine. I live in Florida so we really don’t get too many reasons to rock out our boots ( mine look like they belonged to an indian princess or something. Brown leather with fringe! Mahaha!) but I know that once it hits 60-65 degrees, I give myself permissiong to pull ‘em out!

I’d have to say definitely classy eclectic, with a touch of librarian. I love my pencil skirts and flowy tops, but also my weird dresses :)

ashleigh January 8, 2010 at 11:23 am

those boots are cute and will be great for the Boston slush!

Great recipe! I’ll be using that next week; I’m always looking for a good new way to use oats :)

I’m so glad you chose D, those were my favorites! I’d definitely call my style fun and functional (?) Colorado is SUPER casual, so jeans and cute tops, workout clothes, and funky dresses are definitely the norm. And rockin’ boots like the ones you got!

Reply

Morgan January 8, 2010 at 11:45 am

I’m very classic-jeans and sweaters, boots. I always wear jewelery, but I wear the same stuff pretty much every day-simple, basic and classic! I use makeup, shoes and purses to add personality to my look!

Hey Tina, I hope you don’t mind, but I wanted to use your blog to get some feedback from yourself and other readers. Broke my elliptical trainer last night. It lasted a good 3 years. I try to get out and run as much as possible, but like a backup in case of weather. So, my question is, do I replace it with another elliptical or go to a treadmill? Thanks so much and LOVE the blog…huge fan!
