Full of Delicious Eats

December 28, 2009

Mmm! Mmm!

Today was full of delicious eats. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all especially wonderful meals. I’m definitely going to bed with a happy stomach tonight. I love it when that happens. ;-)

Lunch

I ended up eating lunch really late in the day today, so reheated leftovers from PF Chang’s were a fast, easy, and delicious option.

After lunch, I had two of Grandma’s heavenly chocolate + butterscotch chip cookies.

In the early evening, a number of members from Mal’s side of the family came over to Grandma’s for a visit. It was a full house!

While catching up, I sipped on a Fat Tire Amber Ale.

Dinner

After the family left, my husband and father-in-law got to work in the kitchen.

Cornish hens with thyme and onion were on the menu.

The women hung out in the living room while the men cooked. Mal took a break for a photo opp with his lovely Grandma. Isn’t she adorable looking over at her grandson? :-D

The cornish hens were cooked to perfection.

Dinner started with steam asparagus with homemade mustard-garlic vinaigrette.

We also had some red wine with dinner. I drank about half of my glass.

The roasted onions were packed with flavor. They were easily my favorite part of the meal.

The third course was mashed potatoes with broiled Swiss cheese on top. Holy yum! I need to start making this dish at home.

And, not surprisingly, my evening ended up with two more of Grandma’s cookies. Again, I chose the chocolate + butterscotch chip cookies. Can you believe that I haven’t even tried any of the other flavors yet? I need to get on that tomorrow! ;-)

Mal and I just discovered some nasty stuff in our bathroom sick, so I think we’re changing rooms now. The travel headaches fun never ends!

Good night, folks!

That’s how Mal is a good cook! The MEN cook in that family!

Ohhh man, I am drooling over all that delicious looking food. Your grandma sure knows how to make cookies too. BTW, with all your travel problems I would be sending out emails to their corporate headquarters if they aren’t making things right for you

Dinner looks fab! I don’t blame ya for not frying any other cookies! Although the sugar and walnuts do look great as well :)

Yay Cornish hens! I made those as well for Christmas dinner. That cookie looks scrumptious.

I agree, that Grandma/Grandson photo is precious. Grandmas are the best.

I can understand your bias towards those cookies – butterscotch is the best! I had some butterscotch pudding the other night and was in heaven…
