Flying cross country on Christmas Day really hasn’t been that bad at all. I wasn’t looking forward to rushing around on Christmas morning and then spending most of the day on a plane, but the trip has been quite pleasant.
Check out these gorgeous views of the Rockies!

Because Mal and I booked our plane tickets so last-minute, we weren’t able to sit together. We were bummed, but sitting apart actually worked out well. We both got a lot of work done. (Mal had tons of grading to do.)
My hubby caught me snapping his photo from across the isle. Hi, Mal!

I spent the first half of the flight working on my book and blogging (in Ecto). I have some fun stuff planned for 2010 on Carrots ‘N’ Cake!

Eventually, I took a break to enjoy some celebrity gossip. I’m so glad that Elin is leaving Tiger!

Toward the end of the flight, we hit some serious turbulence, which did not agree with me.
I get motion sickness very easily, so I kept the complimentary “barf bag” close by while I shut my eyes, listened to my iPod, and tried not to hurl.

Eventually the icky feeling passed and the beverage cart came around just when I started to feel better, so I ordered a seltzer + OJ to make an Orangina-type drink.

It hit the spot and made me feel so much better.

Once we landed in San Francisco, Mal and I had one mission: FOOD! It was 9:00 PM EST, so we were more than ready to eat dinner. We found a sit-down restaurant, called The Buena Vista Cafe, near our gate to grab a bite to eat.

The Buena Vista Cafe was your typical airport restaurant: over-priced and average. But, Mal and I didn’t care. We were famished!

While we waited for our food to be delivered to the table, I imitated how I looked typing away on my laptop, squished against the window in my seat on the plane. There were tight quarters on that flight!

For dinner, I ordered a veggie burger with sweet potato fries, which were glorious.

The veggie burger was just so-so, but I ate the whole thing anyway.

For dessert, I stopped by one of the many Ghirardelli kiosks at the SFO airport. Gotta have some Ghirardelli chocolate when you’re in San Francisco!
Remember when I ran by the factory back in November?

Mal and I have about an hour to kill before our flight to Medford. Good thing that I still have my Boingo membership!
Are we there yet?
Merry Christmas, bloggies!

The sweet potato fries look really tasty and the photos from the plane made me nervous for you!! I have this crazy terible fear of flying. I’ve only done it once and I hated every second of it. We’re taking a trip to Chicago next Sunday, but we’re taking the train. Never done that either, but it has to be less fear inducing than flying. Merry Christmas!!!
What a busy Christmas for you! I’m kinda jealous since I’ve been dilly dally around my house BORED!! I love turbulence too–is that weird!? Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too. What an amazing view from the plane. How do you keep up with all these blogs… I’m having trouble with one.
So glad to see I’m not the only one who enjoys taking pictures out of plane windows! And your pictures just emphasize why it’s so great- how beautiful!
Those sweet potato fries are making my mouth water…
Merry Christmas!
Glad you had a safe trip and awesome sweet potato fries.
i felt sick on my flight cross country the other day too. such a sucky feeling!
you and your husband are just too cute!
Grading was my least favorite part of being a teacher. I dreaded giving tests that I would have to grade. Especially since they usually involved writing in Spanish and 10th graders were not good at it.
I love your Orangina mocktail. I need to get some OJ to make something similar.
Sorry you had a rough flight and couldn’t sit together. I’m one of those annoying people who tries to play on sympathy and rearrange the whole plane while my husband looks on, sheepishly, like “It’s ok, I don’t even really know her.”
Just for the record, the REAL Buena Vista Cafe is an awesome old-time SF institution (if you didn’t know) where I’ve had wayyy too many Irish coffees back in the day. I’m a little horrified they put (a fake) one in the airport!
Have a wonderful rest of your trip!
Beautiful views from your flight! And I must say for airport food, that dinner doesn’t look half bad!
oh the gorgeous rockies! love them so! merry christmas tina!
