Not Hungry? What?!?
I was not hungry for dinner tonight. So weird. I can ALWAYS eat, but tonight, I just wasn’t in the mood. I ate a decent-size snack around 4:00 pm, so I guess it did a good job holding me over!
Around 7:00, I started to get a little bit hungry, so I finally threw together a meal for Mal and me. Surprisingly, Mal really likes meatless “chicken” nuggets. (He thinks they taste just like the real thing.) I like them too, so we popped a bunch in the toaster oven for dinner.

While the Chik’n Nuggets cooked, I made us a couple of salads. I topped mine with balsamic vinegar.

Lots-o-veggies!

Even though I wasn’t that hungry for dinner, I definitely had an appetite for Chocolate Dipped Dates. I finished ‘em off!
Lunch
I was really snack-y today. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t hungry tonight?
My new “snackiness” really seems to be working for me. The small snacks that I eat over the course of the afternoon keep me satisfied all day long. Love that!
At NuVal, I munched on dried peaches, an apple, and some pistachios.

I also drank some tea and enjoyed two Bourbon chocolate truffles, which were delish!

When I got home from work, I made myself a piece of whole wheat toast with peanut butter, honey, and banana slices on top. Peanut butter + honey = yummy combo!

Tough Lower Body Workout
Just wanted to share this workout with you guys because it totally kicked my butt!!! I did this workout on Sunday afternoon and I am STILL sore from it today! I used dumbbells for all of the exercises except for the leg press.
- Alternating lunges on Bosu: 40 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
- Squats on Bosu: 50 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
- Stationary lunges on Bosu: 40 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
- Pilé squats: 50 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
- Leg press machine: 110 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
I only rested briefly between sets, so the whole workout took about 30 minutes. But, it was a TOUGH one! My quads were seriously burning on the last set!

I love snacking throughout the day. It’s the only thing that keeps me on track, honestly Even when I splurge on a full lunch, I just end up swiping some candy or something to cure the munchies later anyway
Shannon (The Daily Balance) — November 17, 2009 @ 8:58 pm
Nice lower body workout, thanks for sharing!
The Mister and I are also cuddling up to catch up on our DVR! — what would we do without it?!
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is — November 17, 2009 @ 9:00 pm
It is also rare that I am not hungry for dinner. That is weird!
Sarah — November 17, 2009 @ 9:02 pm
During the week when I’m at work, I definitely do well with the small meals/snacks all day. I pretty much eat every 3 hours. But on the weekends, I do eat larger meals so I don’t eat as any snacks.
Food Makes Fun Fuel — November 17, 2009 @ 9:21 pm
I hate the feeling of not being hungry; just ain’t used to it.
And I’m glad to hear those are good because I think they go on sale tomorrow at Whole Foods! I’m shopping at one in providence but the sales are usually the same for Providence and Boston
Jenna — November 17, 2009 @ 9:24 pm
Maybe something is in the air. It looks like Jessica isn’t hungry for dinner either. And neither was I. So, so strange for me.
I can’t pin down what it was either for me today. Maybe I had way more fiber at lunch/afternoon snack?
I am making banana bread though for my ‘dessert’ and I know I won’t be able to pass that up.
brandi — November 17, 2009 @ 9:27 pm
it’s so weird when I have days like that! they come out of nowhere.
enjoy your night!
Kara — November 17, 2009 @ 9:27 pm
I bet you’ll be hungry tomorrow after that tough workout! I’m always starving the day after a really hard gym session…
Love your tea mug, by the way!
Joelle (The Pancake Girl) — November 17, 2009 @ 9:32 pm
Okay, for some reason your pb/banana toast is looking super good to me right now and I want a slice of my own stat! Too bad I don’t have any pb!
MelissaNibbles — November 17, 2009 @ 9:34 pm
The Quorn products are my favorite meal replacements. I like their cutlets the best.
Estela @ Weekly Bite — November 17, 2009 @ 9:38 pm
I love the meatless chicken nuggets! I ate them all the time when I was pregnant! It’s what I craved
Katie — November 17, 2009 @ 9:41 pm
I’ve been dying to try those and been too chicken! I am craving a snack too hmm what to have?
candice — November 17, 2009 @ 9:43 pm
Those truffles are so cute! I’ve never tried “meatless” chicken (chik’n?!) nuggets, but maybe I’ll give ‘em a go? Perhaps you weren’t hungry because of that delicious toast + PB + banana
Nut butter always does that to me. All those healthy fats
Light Delight with TouTou — November 17, 2009 @ 9:45 pm
PB+ banana is really a great combo!
The truffles look very special ! I love big nuts on chocolate!!
Leah — November 17, 2009 @ 9:47 pm
mmm Quorn has some tasty selections – I love the cutlets stuffed with Gruyere, especially with some tomato and basil sauce on top! Hello “chicken” parm!
Hmm, I might need to try your work out – I think I need to intensify my lifting. I lift 4x a week for about 10-15 minutes each, but rarely wake up sore the next day. I tried circuit training, but I feel so silly hopping around all over the gym with awkward contraptions and in even more awkward positions. I like Pilates, but it’s only taught at my gym on the one day of the week that I have a board meeting. Any other suggestions?
Kelly from Bridges and Bites — November 17, 2009 @ 10:03 pm
I find that if I snack late in the day I don’t want dinner either. But then, if I stay awake too late, I’ll start to get the muchies at about 10 or 11, which is no good!
Jenna — November 17, 2009 @ 10:10 pm
thats probs whay you weren’t that hungry for dinner because you were snacky today!

That leg workout looks killer! I am psyched to try it out, although I should definitely go use my gym’s bosu when it is not busy. I have a feeling squats + bosu + me = falling all over the place
Nicole (dishin') — November 17, 2009 @ 10:15 pm
I’ve never had those “chicken” nuggets..I can do veggie burgers but I haven’t tried the meatless chicken yet…
I love the honey peanutbutter from Justin’s nut butters…it’s very tasty and they come in 100 calorie packs.
Pam — November 17, 2009 @ 10:17 pm
Congrats to Laura!
Enjoy!
Jess — November 17, 2009 @ 10:23 pm
ooh, I’ve been looking for the Quorn brand in our stores, but can’t find them
Glad to hear you like them!
Katherine — November 17, 2009 @ 10:29 pm
I love snacking throughout the day, but I have to be careful that it doesn’t become mindless eating. If it does, I suddenly become stuffed and didn’t even realize what I was eating.
Carolyn — November 17, 2009 @ 10:51 pm
I did a good workout yesterday for my legs and I’m still pretty sore. Pretty sure I will be tomorrow, too.
Cynthia (It All Changes) — November 17, 2009 @ 11:03 pm
Snacky-ness is what has been getting me through the days now that we are super busy.
I love your review on the chicken-less chik’n nuggets. I want to try them but I didn’t want to get them if they were no good.
Kat (Kat's Daily Plate) — November 17, 2009 @ 11:06 pm
I’ve had those Quorn chickn nuggets in my freezer for months and have been unsure of whether or not to try them. Now I will!
Lee — November 17, 2009 @ 11:07 pm
My finance likes fake chicken stuff too. I like the Quorn brand stuff.
Leianna — November 17, 2009 @ 11:19 pm
Great snacks today. I should make those “fake” chicken nuggets and see if my husband notices:)
Nicole — November 17, 2009 @ 11:20 pm
HAHA! I like ‘chikn’ nuggets, patties and cutlets, too! And they really do taste like the real thing. I like the Morningstar brand chikn patties on an english muffin with melted cheese & lotsa ketchup. Weird sounding, but oh so good!
Lu — November 17, 2009 @ 11:28 pm
I love Quorn. Their chicken cutlets, the ones that aren’t breaded, are really good. They taste exactly like chicken and they make a mean chicken parmigiana. When I snack I am rarely hungry for dinner.
Deva (Voracious Vorilee) — November 17, 2009 @ 11:29 pm
I love the veggie chicken nuggets, especially the buffalo style ones from Morningstar. those are good!
Katie (Life Discombobulated) — November 17, 2009 @ 11:44 pm
I am a Bosu novice… Do you do your squats/lunges with the blue side or the flat side on the floor??? Thank you! : )
Sarah @ The Foodie Diaries — November 17, 2009 @ 11:48 pm
I’m ALWAYS thrown off when my hunger doesn’t come out to play haha. I definitely want to try that workout–just need to get a bosu ball!
Erin — November 18, 2009 @ 12:06 am
I just discovered that if I eat half my lunch earlier in the day and half my lunch later in the day, it’s like I had two lunches and I’m full for longer. Why I never thought of this before is beyond me. Yay snackiness that works for you!
Lynn (The Actors Diet) — November 18, 2009 @ 12:22 am
i like quorn too but unfortunately my husband, the vegetarian, is “allergic” to it. apparently a large percentage of the population is – large amounts of vegetarians in britain have gotten really sick from it.
BroccoliHut — November 18, 2009 @ 12:29 am
Every now and then I get a major craving for chicken-less nuggets too. I highly recommend making them into a sandwich or salad with lots of BBQ sauce:)
*Andrea* — November 18, 2009 @ 1:02 am
i love the quorn fake chicken nuggets dipped in bbq sauce! yummyyyy – i’m surprised mal likes them/ isn’t intimidated by them – that’s awesome! those choc chip dates are sooo amazing, i made my own version by stuffing them with carob chips
Paige@ Running Around Normal — November 18, 2009 @ 8:58 am
Oh yeah, whenever I have a snack, I’m usually not hungry for another 2-3 hours – that’s a given for me.
Nice workout!
Lauren — November 18, 2009 @ 9:36 am
I love meatless chicken nuggets, and so does my boyfriend. We definitely agree that they taste ‘real’! I’ve never bought the Quorn brand, so will have to give those a try. I do love the Boca meatless chicken nuggets, though–they taste amazing! When I’m uninspired dinner-wise, I’ll sometimes just heat a few up, top them with marinara sauce, and sprinkle a little mozzarella cheese on top. It tastes so much like chicken parm.
Thanks for sharing that lower body workout. It sounds intense! I hate to admit it, but I’m pretty remiss in doing lower body work (aside from running and spinning, which I firmly believe does count). I’ve never had a hard time toning my legs, so I often ignore that area when doing weights, focusing on my arms and core instead. However, this workout has seriously inspired me! Can’t wait to try it.
Long post!
Emily Eats and Exercises — November 18, 2009 @ 9:39 am
I love quorn. I’ve never had the nuggets, but I eat the chicken cutlets all the time. My friend recommended the ones stuffed with goat cheese and cranberries – I may have to try that.
SweetiePotato — November 18, 2009 @ 9:48 am
I’ve tried those Quorn, too & love them… I can’t believe they’re made from mycoprotein fungus!!
Sagan — November 18, 2009 @ 9:52 am
The chocolate dipped dates sound amazing. I’m so much of a snacky person too… I’m not very good at waiting until dinner to eat
Amy — November 18, 2009 @ 10:27 am
I love Quorn products! I was wondering if you at some point in the future you could do a small video involving the BOSU ball? I have access to one but, (this may seem silly) I don’t know how to use it properly!
jeri — November 18, 2009 @ 2:07 pm
I have seriously mug envy. Where’d you get yours? I vant vone.
