Not Hungry? What?!?

I was not hungry for dinner tonight. So weird. I can ALWAYS eat, but tonight, I just wasn’t in the mood. I ate a decent-size snack around 4:00 pm, so I guess it did a good job holding me over!

Around 7:00, I started to get a little bit hungry, so I finally threw together a meal for Mal and me. Surprisingly, Mal really likes meatless “chicken” nuggets. (He thinks they taste just like the real thing.) I like them too, so we popped a bunch in the toaster oven for dinner.

While the Chik’n Nuggets cooked, I made us a couple of salads. I topped mine with balsamic vinegar.

Lots-o-veggies!

Even though I wasn’t that hungry for dinner, I definitely had an appetite for Chocolate Dipped Dates. I finished ‘em off! ;-)

Lunch

I was really snack-y today. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t hungry tonight?

My new “snackiness” really seems to be working for me. The small snacks that I eat over the course of the afternoon keep me satisfied all day long. Love that!

At NuVal, I munched on dried peaches, an apple, and some pistachios.

I also drank some tea and enjoyed two Bourbon chocolate truffles, which were delish!

When I got home from work, I made myself a piece of whole wheat toast with peanut butter, honey, and banana slices on top. Peanut butter + honey = yummy combo! :-D

Tough Lower Body Workout

Just wanted to share this workout with you guys because it totally kicked my butt!!! I did this workout on Sunday afternoon and I am STILL sore from it today! I used dumbbells for all of the exercises except for the leg press.

  • Alternating lunges on Bosu: 40 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
  • Squats on Bosu: 50 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
  • Stationary lunges on Bosu: 40 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
  • Pilé squats: 50 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
  • Leg press machine: 110 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets

I only rested briefly between sets, so the whole workout took about 30 minutes. But, it was a TOUGH one! My quads were seriously burning on the last set!

I love snacking throughout the day. It’s the only thing that keeps me on track, honestly Even when I splurge on a full lunch, I just end up swiping some candy or something to cure the munchies later anyway :)

During the week when I’m at work, I definitely do well with the small meals/snacks all day. I pretty much eat every 3 hours. But on the weekends, I do eat larger meals so I don’t eat as any snacks.

I hate the feeling of not being hungry; just ain’t used to it.
And I’m glad to hear those are good because I think they go on sale tomorrow at Whole Foods! I’m shopping at one in providence but the sales are usually the same for Providence and Boston

Maybe something is in the air. It looks like Jessica isn’t hungry for dinner either. And neither was I. So, so strange for me.

I can’t pin down what it was either for me today. Maybe I had way more fiber at lunch/afternoon snack?

I am making banana bread though for my ‘dessert’ and I know I won’t be able to pass that up. :)

Those truffles are so cute! I’ve never tried “meatless” chicken (chik’n?!) nuggets, but maybe I’ll give ‘em a go? Perhaps you weren’t hungry because of that delicious toast + PB + banana :D Nut butter always does that to me. All those healthy fats ;)

mmm Quorn has some tasty selections – I love the cutlets stuffed with Gruyere, especially with some tomato and basil sauce on top! Hello “chicken” parm!

Hmm, I might need to try your work out – I think I need to intensify my lifting. I lift 4x a week for about 10-15 minutes each, but rarely wake up sore the next day. I tried circuit training, but I feel so silly hopping around all over the gym with awkward contraptions and in even more awkward positions. I like Pilates, but it’s only taught at my gym on the one day of the week that I have a board meeting. Any other suggestions?

I find that if I snack late in the day I don’t want dinner either. But then, if I stay awake too late, I’ll start to get the muchies at about 10 or 11, which is no good!

I love snacking throughout the day, but I have to be careful that it doesn’t become mindless eating. If it does, I suddenly become stuffed and didn’t even realize what I was eating.

HAHA! I like ‘chikn’ nuggets, patties and cutlets, too! And they really do taste like the real thing. I like the Morningstar brand chikn patties on an english muffin with melted cheese & lotsa ketchup. Weird sounding, but oh so good!

I love Quorn. Their chicken cutlets, the ones that aren’t breaded, are really good. They taste exactly like chicken and they make a mean chicken parmigiana. When I snack I am rarely hungry for dinner.

I just discovered that if I eat half my lunch earlier in the day and half my lunch later in the day, it’s like I had two lunches and I’m full for longer. Why I never thought of this before is beyond me. Yay snackiness that works for you!

i like quorn too but unfortunately my husband, the vegetarian, is “allergic” to it. apparently a large percentage of the population is – large amounts of vegetarians in britain have gotten really sick from it.

I love meatless chicken nuggets, and so does my boyfriend. We definitely agree that they taste ‘real’! I’ve never bought the Quorn brand, so will have to give those a try. I do love the Boca meatless chicken nuggets, though–they taste amazing! When I’m uninspired dinner-wise, I’ll sometimes just heat a few up, top them with marinara sauce, and sprinkle a little mozzarella cheese on top. It tastes so much like chicken parm.

Thanks for sharing that lower body workout. It sounds intense! I hate to admit it, but I’m pretty remiss in doing lower body work (aside from running and spinning, which I firmly believe does count). I’ve never had a hard time toning my legs, so I often ignore that area when doing weights, focusing on my arms and core instead. However, this workout has seriously inspired me! Can’t wait to try it.

    Long post! :)
