Lunch at Home
My work schedule is flip-flopped today, so I got to eat lunch at home today!
Eating lunch at home probably doesn’t sound that exciting, but when you’ve worked 9-5 for your entire adult life, it’s pretty sweet!
I made myself an awesome salad with romaine lettuce, spinach, grape tomatoes, shredded carrot, onions, cucumbers, avocado, balsamic vinegar, and leftover brown rice + roasted shrimp from last night.
I love the combo of balsamic vinegar + avocado! It’s fantastic!

I had a glass of ice water with lunch. Plain and simple.

The second half of lunch was a piece of cinnamon raisin toast with a thick smear of chunky peanut butter on top.

And I had a couple of chocolates on the side, which were the perfect way to end a meal.

Upcoming Gordon’s Events
Here’s just a sampling of events…
- Simi Wine Dinner at the Taj Hotel
- A Night in Bordeaux
- Tuscan Wine Dinner with Il Molino di Grace & Sweet Basil
- Chocolate Heaven: Dessert and Dessert Wine Pairings
- Beer 101
For a complete list of upcoming events, check out the November and December calendars. You call also follow Gordon’s on Twitter and Facebook.
If you are ever interested in attending an event at Gordon’s, please let me know. I’d love to join you!
In addition to upcoming events, I’ve also been posting fun news related to wine, beer, and spirits, like What Wines to Bring to A Dinner Party and When You Should Stir Versus Shake a Cocktail.
I’m off to a NuVal team meeting! See ya tonight!

Eating at home has definitely helped me to stay out of a rut, not spend money on lunch and eat up leftovers! Plus, there’s no box of tempting doughnuts in the coffee room when you work from home!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers — November 2, 2009 @ 1:25 pm

I just started working a schedule where I eat lunch at home a few days a week and I love it! I notice that I eat many more fruits and veggies because I don’t have to worry about packing everything up and taking it to work in tupperware. So much better!
Joelle (The Pancake Girl) — November 2, 2009 @ 1:42 pm

I might just try that avacado and balsamic combo. I have a weird fear of non-guacamole avacados, but maybe guacamole is only a gateway drug to the world of avacaods. I used to not like guacamole either. Baby steps!
Diana — November 2, 2009 @ 1:49 pm

I love all those foods! I have a hollow leg today ugh! I wish my future job would let me eat at home… Something about the peacefulness of eating whatever your craving at that exact moment.
Amanda @ Cakes and Ale — November 2, 2009 @ 5:10 pm
I’ve got a soft spot for cinnamon bread (I like mine topped with cream cheese, weird as that sounds…)… but I haven’t had it in ages! I need to find a good whole grain option!
