First Friday Off
Today was my first Friday off since my last day at Harvard nearly a month ago. Somehow, what I thought was going to be a nice, relaxing day, ended up being really stressful.
In addition to worrying sick about my little gremlin at the vet, my blog basically “died” this morning. If you are following me on Twitter, you know that Carrots ‘N’ Cake was MIA for about 7-8 hours today. But, through the powers of social media, my blog was fully restored with the help of @GoDaddyGuy.
So, after dealing with GoDaddy customer service, which included two 45-minute calls and a few tears, I finally tweeted @GoDaddyGuy about my blog issues. At this point, I was PISSED about the whole ordeal!
I was ready to give up all hope when @GoDaddyGuy called me on my cell phone to let me know that he fixed my blog! My hero!
In addition to saving my blog, @GoDaddyGuy was super nice and explained everything to me. Turns out, my blog issues weren’t because of GoDaddy.com at all. It was a WordPress issue!
Basically, the recent WP upgrade “confused” some of my blog files, so they weren’t being read properly and the posts and pages didn’t show up on my blog. Blah.
Anyway, @GoDaddyGuy fixed Carrots ‘N’ Cake, and I am ever so grateful. I don’t know what I would have done if all of my blog posts (and pages) from the last 2 years had been lost! Thanks, again, @GoDaddyGuy!
Ok, let’s get to the fitness and food!
Workout
Despite my blog drama, I managed to have an AWESOME workout at the gym the this morning. I channeled all of my frustration into working extra hard!
My workout was an hour-long training session with Tom, the owner of Motivated Fitness, followed by 30-minutes of intervals on the stationary bike. I was pooped by the end!
So, guys, I consider myself a fairly fit person, but my session with Tom demonstrated that I had some serious work to do, especially with strengthening my bum left hip and my core. I’m surprised how weak I am in both of these areas!
Tom gave me a great full body workout to do 2-3 times a week. I’m excited to get started on improving my overall fitness level and now I have a new strength training routine, which is a really good thing because my old ones were getting boring!
Lunch
For lunch, I whipped up a yummy homemade salad with romaine, grape tomatoes, broccoli, snap peas, carrots, and topped it with grilled veggies and rice from Jen’s leftovers from Salsa’s. (She sent hers home with me.)

On the side, I crunched on some Sweet Potato and Taro chips that the Hawaiian Chip Company sent me to sample. They were delicious, especially the sweet potato chips.

Salad + chips + ice water = fantastic lunch!

Breakfast
Wow, breakfast seems like it was AGES ago!
I had a wonderful bowl of oats with raisins, ground flaxseed meal, cinnamon, and nutmeg mixed in.

I also added a big ol’ scoop of Teddie Peanut Butter (my fav)!

And, as usual, I drank iced coffee with vanilla soy milk and agave nectar.

NuVal Buzz
Check out my guest post on Danica’s blog: How Do Cookies “Score”? Of course, my post is in honor of Cookie Friday!
Jess of Black Cat Kitchen wrote a great post on “trading-up” ingredients in her tuna casserole: Healthier tuna casserole with NuVal.
And Erin wrote about shopping at Meijer in Ohio on A Better Bag of Groceries.

The vet called a little while ago to tell us that Murphy did great in surgery. He’s recovering now, so we’re picking him up in about an hour. I can’t wait to see the little guy!
Happy FRIDAY!!!

So glad your puppy is doing well! He is adorable! I know how you feel…when my husband and I took our dog (who is half Pug)for the same surgery, I left in tears! Funny how we get so attached to our pets.
Also glad your blog issues are fixed. I’m having some troubles with WordPress as well.

OMG!! I was reading your blog and thought you said “my dog basically died” this morning. I was horrified until I re-read and saw it was your blog, not your dog. That’s what I get for reading too fast. Glad Murphy is ok!!!
Cynthia (It All Changes) — November 20, 2009 @ 6:29 pm
I’m glad it got all fixed up for you. I’m sure it was traumatic and I’m happy that you and your blog are doing okay.
Your little Murphy will be fine. He’ll just need some extra puppy love when he gets home
Katie — November 20, 2009 @ 6:29 pm
Almost every wordpress blog was down this morning! Glad Murphy is doing well.
And I think everyone’s weakest point is their core. Mine is my left side too which is why my right side gets so sore.

Glad it’s working again! I had a similar issue on my own blog about a month ago (also a WordPress-Statpress problem) and actually lost sleep over it-you don’t realize how attached you get to the ‘ol blog until you can’t access it!
Jenna — November 20, 2009 @ 6:47 pm
What a guy, that GoDaddy! Shows there still are nice people in the world.
I’m glad to hear your little one’s surgery went well. I’m sure he’ll be VERY excited to see you. Have a wonderful evening!
homecookedem — November 20, 2009 @ 6:53 pm
Isn’t there some way you can back up all your posts from the past 2 years just in case this were to happen again? That might help relieve some of the fear and stress in the future. Although I have no idea about how any of that would work, just curious if that’s an option for you.
Hope your baby’s surgery went well!
Erin — November 20, 2009 @ 7:01 pm
Aw, enjoy your time with Murphy this weekend.
Jenna — November 20, 2009 @ 7:39 pm
