Where Did This Weather Come From?

October 31, 2009

It’s a BEAUTIFUL day in Boston!!! The temperature is in the low 70′s and there’s a nice cool breeze. Where did this gorgeous weather come from?

City view from our balcony:

I took advantage of the wonderful weather by eating my lunch on our balcony in the warm sunshine.

I made an open-face sandwich on toasted whole wheat with pesto, cheddar, tomato, mushroom, onion, and avocado. It was yuuuuum! :-D

I drank a second iced coffee with lunch. It’s a double ice coffee kind of day, if ya know what I mean! ;-)

I’m thinking chocolate + peanut butter for dessert! ;-)

  • 40 minutes on elliptical
  • 10 minutes of abs and core exercises

Common Foods Dangerous to Dogs

I saw an article in Real Simple (October 2009) about some common foods that can make your dog (or cat) sick. I had no clue that some of these foods were bad for animals, so I thought I would share the list on the blog.

  1. Avocados
  2. Macadamia nuts
  3. Raw yeast, bread dough
  4. Alcoholic drinks
  5. Xylitol (found in sugarless gum)
  6. Garlic, onions
  7. Grapes, raisins
  8. Chocolate

Speaking of dogs, Mal and I are off to take Murph for a long walk by the ocean.

See ya! 8-)

My dog can’t eat chicken, we have to be careful with what table food he gets
Isn’t it great out? It was cloudy as hell this morning when I ran but now it’s lovely

Low 70s? I am jealous! I’m going to a football game tonight in Kentucky, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to freeze!

Awesome sandwich combo. :-) Avocado makes everything special!

Oh, what a breathtaking view! We have super nice weather here in NYC too, although I’m stuck in the house today.

My dog pretty much eats everything he can gets his paws on.. this is not limited to food, but paper too. ;-) Have a great walk!

Wow, I had no idea garlic and onions were bad for dogs? And avocados? Huh. Good to know! Thanks for the list!

i had no idea about the garlic – i had thought that was a “natural” remedy to prevent fleas!

I saw that list too and was shocked. I knew some but not all. I love how they told us what they do to them as well so I know why.

Enjoy your double ice coffee weather :-)

Ad I’m so glad to see someone else who loves coffee as much as I do. Makes me feel less guilty!

When I saw that Real Simple article I ripped it out and put it on my fridge — I had no idea all that was bad for dogs! My dog will seriously eat anything, haha…

I saw that article in Real Simple too! I always think its weird when i see avocados listed under foods that are bad for dogs. My uncle had an avocado farm in Florida and his dogs would eat avocados by the truck full! Any avocado that fell on the ground they would eat. They had the shiniest coats I’ve ever seen and were in great health!! Not that I’m advocating giving dogs avocados, I just think it’s interesting.

I love avocado. Good to know so our poodle doesn’t steal any of those foods. It’s GORGEOUS here in KC I wish I could have ran all day in this weather.

So jealous of your weather. I’m in New Jersey and it pouring. All the poor Trick-or-Treaters are ringing the doorbell soaking wet!

Reply

Kara October 31, 2009 at 4:44 pm

Who’d've thunk that it’s almost November??

Reply

Kate October 31, 2009 at 5:18 pm

Argh! Jealous! It’s sunny here, but the high temp is only 48 degrees! Winter is on its way I’m afraid. I feel bad for all the trick or treaters tonight!

There have been several foods that I’ve found out about recently that are toxic to pets that have really shocked me. I guess it just shows that with feeding animals you really need to be cautious and know your stuff.

Anyway, have a great Halloween!

We learned of those same dangerous foods when we took Petrie to the vet the same time. Who would have thought that avocado would be bad?

Have a happy Halloween, Tina!

Boy,it’s hard to believe that the weather is so beautiful up there and the view was superb!!! I bet you are really enjoying yourselves. My husband and I have been up to Beantown several times and just love it up there. My hubby says he would love to move up there after we retire but I don’t know that we can afford it. maybe you can give us some insight on that situation. Also,I don’t really care for dogs but those facts were intriguing. Furthermore,I just love ice coffee and think it the bomb!!!!

As a resident of New York City and of a tiny one bedroom convert, I can officially say … ” I am jealous!!” of that view!! What I wouldn’t give to sit on my rooftop and sip a cup of coffee in this gorgeous fall weather — too bad the roof is chain locked :(
