Good morning!!!
Let me tell you, it was another early morning for me! I set my alarm for 4:30 AM (ick!) and I was out the door by 5:00 AM.
I planned to catch the bus to South Station, but (not surprisingly) it never showed up! I swear, the MBTA is sooooo unreliable when you need it! I ended up hailing a cab and arrived at South Station about 2 minutes later. I’m $7 less rich, but it was well worth it for the peace of mind knowing I wouldn’t miss my train!

South Station was pretty quiet at 5:30 this morning.

By 5:45, however, the place was bumpin’ with travelers.

When I arrived at South Station, I used the Amtrak Self-Serve Ticketing kiosk to print my tickets. I’m always worried about running into some sort of snag when I travel, but getting my tickets was no issue at all. It took just 30 seconds!

Once I had my tickets in hand, coffee was a priority!

I popped over to Cosi for a cup of their Cafe Blend. Ahhhhh!

Around 6:00 AM, it was time to board the Acela to NYC!

The Acela was so nice inside! The seats are comfy and spacious, and there’s plenty of room to spread out and store your things. There’s also a bathroom in each car, which is much-needed for people like me who love coffee, but have small bladders!

Once I got settled, I whipped out my laptop and got to work. Unfortunately, the Acela doesn’t have Wi Fi, which I found hard to believe, but I kept busy with other work.

Here we are whizzing through Mystic, Connecticut!
I wish Mal was here. He’s a big fan of trains.

Guys, I absolutely love traveling.
My blogging “career” has taken me to so many amazing places:
- North Carolina to visit Kath
- South Carolina to visit Erica
- San Francisco for BlogHer Food
- Fresno for the POM Harvest Tour
- New York City today!
And soon, I’m headed to San Francisco for the Foodbuzz Festival and perhaps Chicago in December for a blogger event.
If you had told me this is what I would be doing with my life, even just a few years ago, I would have never believed you! I still can’t believe it myself sometimes!
More to come from NYC!

You’ve had quite the adventure!!! Keep us posted on the Chicago blogging event…there are lots of us here!
You’ve had quite a ride and deserve all the success that is coming your way! Can’t wait to hear more from NYC!
I used to take amtrak to Delaware all the time my freshman year of college! Train travel is so fun.
Hope you have a great and productive trip! Wish you were NYC for longer so we could have a reader meet-up!
I love train stations – so classic.
I just can’t believe Amtrak doesn’t have wireless, but a $30 bus does. Isn’t it crazy?!?! The Acela looks soo comfortable! And I’ve actually heard it’s supposed to be getting wireless soon! Have fun!
That train looks SO clean- how nice! Glad you made it to NY safely. Yayyy for your trip to SC! You all are welcome back ANYTIME!
Sounds like it’s been a good morning!
I have never had the chance to ride a train, but I would love to! It seems so cool.
That train looks so neat. The next time I go from NYC to Boston I’m taking it! But it sort of sucks that it doesn’t have wireless.
Have fun in my city!!!
Trains are so much fun. I always feel sophisticated riding them.
Congrats on all the success. Can’t wait to hear what the trip was all about
Your cosi coffee looks pumpkiny
Have a great time in NYC; you deserve all of your blog-induced travles!
Hope everything is going the way you want in NYC!!
I Love classic looking train stations!
Glad everything is going so well for you!
I love train travel too. Reminds me so much of my childhood in Europe. We took the train everywhere. I actually love it more than flying because you have more space and can move around more. If it weren’t for the time it takes to travel by train I would travel that way more often.
Your blogging career is so awesome and fits you so well. Have fun in NYC!
You have done a lot of blogging travel – it’s so cool. The Acela is great. Enjoy NYC!
What an awesome, sleek-looking train! I have only been on trains like that in Europe. We occasionally visit Chicago (from Milwaukee) on Amtrak, but the Hiawatha line is straight outta the 60s.
Have a great time in NYC!
i have a love for traveling too! its so fun to experience all different places! i wish i had a job that took me around the world!
how fun! i love travel! your career has been molded by YOUR interests. what a dream for the rest of us
I love train travel! Not sure what your NYC plans entail, but if you’re craving something warm, check out City Bakery on 18th st near 5th avenue. Their hot chocolate is SO thick and delicious (like chocolate soup!) and they top it with a homemade marshmallow. It’s rainy and chilly in the city today – perfect hot beverage weather
I looove travelling too. It’s so awesome
That looks like a nice train! I love train rides
Just wanted to say that I love your blog! You have definitely inspired me to start my own (which I did officially yesterday!) It’s so funny because I went to Union and live in Boston as well, its a small world
When we go to NYC, we drive down to Conneticutt to catch their MBTA into the city, but the Amtrack train seems sooo much nicer
That is amazing! I love to travel and wish I had more opportunities to do so. I just got back from San Fran. I LOVE California totally would take someone funding me to go
Oh fun! I love trains too!!!! Hope your having a great day in NYC!
So glad you are enjoying what you do! It’s the key to life:)
Oh, no, MBTA! I’m taking the bus to South Station for the first time next week, and now I’m scared the bus will never come!
Looks like fun! Can’t wait to hear all about your trip to NYC.
As for the Chicago blogging event coming up in Dec.is that a closed event or something other bloggers will be invited to? I would love to meet you!
Aw, fun!! We take the Amtrak to Chicago (from Detroit). It’s a great way to travel! Hope you’re enjoying NYC!!
Know where I bet you HAVEN’T been…? Minneapolis! I think you’d be impressed
i love to travel too but lately it’s been getting difficult doing it so much without my hubby! not as much fun, even though i love my job. you should come out to los angeles sometime !!!
I did a lot of traveling by train in college and that Acela looks waaaay more comfy than any Amtrak train I’ve ever been on!
I LOVE traveling by train.. we used to go on lots of train trips across the country with Amtrak when I was little.
Ahhh, I love traveling, too! And that’s awesome that you can do it for your work!
Was it the number 9 bus!?? I had to wait for 45 minutes on Columbus Day to get to the Commons for my 10K race in shorts! I was so livid at MBTA that morning! I did the same exact thing and ended up taking a taxi!
Yay Connecticut! The Acela looks so cool – you are definitely riding in style!
Ooo I am jealous of you taking the train to NYC. So great that you get to do this for work! I also heard a rumor that you may be attending a little Boston Blogger meet up on Sunday? I hope that is the case since I will be there. Have a great time in NYC
I am still not sure how this works…how does one make money by going to blog events-does one pick up more sponsors,or go network for a company while there?
I can see how the POM trip was great promotion for the company on all the blogs, but does one also get PAID to attend these events?
Thanks for explaining how it works
Have fun in NY!
That’s awesome that you’ve gotten to visit so many places through the blog.
So glad you had a great ride, can’t wait to read more about your adventure!!
Sounds like a fantastic life to me! I love to travel, also. It’s so fun to be in different places and experience that culture/lifestyle.
That train looks so nice compared to the Metro from White Plains, NY to the city. haha. Glad you had a great trip!
I wish I lived in an area with good public transportation. We’re getting a light rail next year, but it’ll probably be another 10 years before it has enough routes to be useful. P.S. I am giving away two breast cancer awareness prize packs on my blog: http://lovinlosing.com/.

Sorry about the duplicate comments. I got error messages both times I hit submit, so I didn’t realize they went through.
I hope to someday do half of the things you have
