Good morning!!!

Let me tell you, it was another early morning for me! I set my alarm for 4:30 AM (ick!) and I was out the door by 5:00 AM.

I planned to catch the bus to South Station, but (not surprisingly) it never showed up! I swear, the MBTA is sooooo unreliable when you need it! I ended up hailing a cab and arrived at South Station about 2 minutes later. I’m $7 less rich, but it was well worth it for the peace of mind knowing I wouldn’t miss my train!

South Station was pretty quiet at 5:30 this morning.

By 5:45, however, the place was bumpin’ with travelers.

IMG_9928.JPG

When I arrived at South Station, I used the Amtrak Self-Serve Ticketing kiosk to print my tickets. I’m always worried about running into some sort of snag when I travel, but getting my tickets was no issue at all. It took just 30 seconds!

Once I had my tickets in hand, coffee was a priority!

IMG_9916.JPG

I popped over to Cosi for a cup of their Cafe Blend. Ahhhhh!

Around 6:00 AM, it was time to board the Acela to NYC!

IMG_9930.JPG

The Acela was so nice inside! The seats are comfy and spacious, and there’s plenty of room to spread out and store your things. There’s also a bathroom in each car, which is much-needed for people like me who love coffee, but have small bladders!

IMG_9934.JPG

Once I got settled, I whipped out my laptop and got to work. Unfortunately, the Acela doesn’t have Wi Fi, which I found hard to believe, but I kept busy with other work.

Here we are whizzing through Mystic, Connecticut!

I wish Mal was here. He’s a big fan of trains.

Guys, I absolutely love traveling.

My blogging “career” has taken me to so many amazing places:

And soon, I’m headed to San Francisco for the Foodbuzz Festival and perhaps Chicago in December for a blogger event.

If you had told me this is what I would be doing with my life, even just a few years ago, I would have never believed you! I still can’t believe it myself sometimes!

More to come from NYC!

I just can’t believe Amtrak doesn’t have wireless, but a $30 bus does. Isn’t it crazy?!?! The Acela looks soo comfortable! And I’ve actually heard it’s supposed to be getting wireless soon! Have fun!

That train looks so neat. The next time I go from NYC to Boston I’m taking it! But it sort of sucks that it doesn’t have wireless.

Have fun in my city!!!

I love train travel too. Reminds me so much of my childhood in Europe. We took the train everywhere. I actually love it more than flying because you have more space and can move around more. If it weren’t for the time it takes to travel by train I would travel that way more often.

Your blogging career is so awesome and fits you so well. Have fun in NYC!

What an awesome, sleek-looking train! I have only been on trains like that in Europe. We occasionally visit Chicago (from Milwaukee) on Amtrak, but the Hiawatha line is straight outta the 60s.
Have a great time in NYC!

I love train travel! Not sure what your NYC plans entail, but if you’re craving something warm, check out City Bakery on 18th st near 5th avenue. Their hot chocolate is SO thick and delicious (like chocolate soup!) and they top it with a homemade marshmallow. It’s rainy and chilly in the city today – perfect hot beverage weather :-)

Was it the number 9 bus!?? I had to wait for 45 minutes on Columbus Day to get to the Commons for my 10K race in shorts! I was so livid at MBTA that morning! I did the same exact thing and ended up taking a taxi!

Yay Connecticut! The Acela looks so cool – you are definitely riding in style!

I am still not sure how this works…how does one make money by going to blog events-does one pick up more sponsors,or go network for a company while there?
I can see how the POM trip was great promotion for the company on all the blogs, but does one also get PAID to attend these events?
Thanks for explaining how it works :)
Have fun in NY!

I wish I lived in an area with good public transportation. We’re getting a light rail next year, but it’ll probably be another 10 years before it has enough routes to be useful. P.S. I am giving away two breast cancer awareness prize packs on my blog: http://lovinlosing.com/.
