Sweet Sunday Morning

October 11, 2009

I’ve had such a sweet Sunday morning so far!

Murphy slept in until 7:15 this morning, which meant that “mom” and “dad” got to sleep late too.

After a quick walk around the neighborhood with my boys, my wonderful husband offered to cook banana pancakes for breakfast. The only thing that I had to do was pour us two iced coffees. Not a bad deal, if you ask me! ;-)

I topped my pancakes with agave nectar instead of maple syrup. For me, agave nectar has fewer calories than maple syrup because I use much less of it. A little goes a long way! I also think agave nectar tastes better on pancakes! :-D

The banana slices were all gooey and sweet in my pancakes. Just the way I like ‘em!

It was a cool, crisp, and sunny morning here in Boston– perfect for a leisurely pancake breakfast.

After breakfast, I headed to Healthworks for an awesome Body Pump class! 8-)

Every few weeks the Body Pump music and routine changes, so this class was a “new” one. It had a lot of really tough tracks! In particular, my buns and biceps were burning! I’m definitely going to feel them tomorrow! Man, Body Pump is the best workout!

We’re having a bunch of friends over this afternoon to watch football, eat chili, and drink beer. Mal is making his infamous chili, which got rave reviews the last time he made it! (It’s actually a Real Simple recipe, but Mal likes to think of it as his own! ;-) )

Lots to do! See ya!!!

Your pancakes look wonderful! I just picked up some Pumpkin Pancake mix at Trader Joe’s yesterday and I can’t wait to try it- pumpkin + pancake= heaven!

Have a great day- sounds like it will be awesome. Its a crisp, cool day here in NYC as well- love this fall weather!

I’m a huge fan of Body Pump as well! We have to wait until 10/24 for our next release. It’s beautiful here in VT too. We’re headed up to “the islands” for apple fest with friends. Yay!

Looks like a fun afternoon for you, are you making your own chili?

Mmm banana pancakes.

Chili is on the menu for my dinner too!

Also I just wanted to make a quick point and I hope you don’t mind but when you said Mal’s “infamous” chili… I just wanted to clarify that something that is infamous has a very bad reputation, as in “September 11th will live on in our minds in infamy.” My friend corrected me when I made that mistake because she made the mistake once during a very public speech and she was mortified! Since then she feels the need to correct anyone when they use the word incorrectly. And now I do too I guess!
Sorry if that was totally annoying. Just thought I would let you know!

I love agave. I like ot use it in my oatmeal. I am making pancakes tomorrow so I’ll have to try it as syrup.

I love thinking of recipes as my own too. If no one else knows it from a magazine they all give me the credit and it makes me feel good. Of course I’ll tell them if they ask. :-)

All I have to say is YUM!!! I love agave nectar on my pancakes too ;) but I do hate to give the bad news, but agave nectar actually doesn’t have less calories than maple syrup. Maple syrup tends to be 210 calories/.25cup whereas Agave nectar is around 60 calories/Tbsp. Since there are 4 Tbsps. in .25cup, that means that in .25cup of Agave nectar, there is 240 calories. But then agian, who is counting calories, not me. I think Agave has a more “pronounced” flavor anyways, and that is why I prefer it. Hope you have a great rest of your Sunday!!
