Sort of Obsessed
I’m sort of obsessed with the lunch I ate today.
Yesterday, I bought a small spaghetti squash at the farmers’ market, so I cooked-it-up for lunch today. (Check out my post about how to cook spaghetti squash.)
After baking the squash and pulling out the strands with a fork, I added marinated artichokes and store-bought pesto sauce. The flavors and oils from the artichokes and pesto were just the right amount to meld everything together into a yummy dish. I’m so happy that I have leftovers for tonight!
Lunch also included a High Protein Post-Workout Bar from Angela’s Glo Bakery. My lunch needed some protein in it! The bar had 11 grams of protein and tasted delicious! That girl can bake!
The High Protein Post-Workout Bar is made with hemp and chia seeds, which are packed with protein, essential fatty acids, and tons of antioxidants– awesome combination of ingredients!
I rounded out lunch with an apple and some H20.
A little while later, a plate of tempting Cocoa Krispie Treats appeared behind my desk. I considered resisting the splurge, but then I realized I had no chance.
It was totally worth the splurge! The treats were wonderfully gooey, chocolaty, and marshmallow-y!

hi! I like to relax and unwind by grabbing a good book, a soft blanket and my favorite spot on the couch at home! If that doesn’t cut it, then i like laying snuggling up in bed and watching a funny episode of a show I love to unwind!

To relax and unwind, I brew myself a special cup of coffee. I keep several different flavored coffees and special roasts in my kitchen. When I want a special treat I make a cup of one of these coffees and have a dark chocolate truffle with it. I get my fresh coffee, truffle and go sit down and prop my feet up. Ahhhhh!

How I relax? Reading blogs! They are usually so uplifting and make me feel great!

Tina, I love spaghetti squash too. My favorite way to eat it is with browned butter and grated mizithra cheese. Using the squash in place of the spaghetti noodles cuts down on some of the richness of the dish. It’s definitely one to try! I like your suggestion, too!
One way that I relax and unwind is with friends. My girlfriends and I have bi-weekly get-togethers on weeknights after work. Knowing that I’ll see them at the end of the day takes away some of the stress of a busy day/week at work. We get together for dinner, coffee, or meet at a park for a walk in nice weather. The comfort of good friends is the best relaxant that I could hope for!

Yoga! I recently started practicing yoga a few times per week, and I cannot believe how much it has helped me relax. Surprisingly, I feel more relaxed after yoga than I do after taking a bubble bath! (that used to me my go-to-relaxor).

Getting in the kitchen with a glass of wine, some music playing and cooking a healthy dinner is my favorite way to relax. I dance around and probably burn extra calories without even trying! I don’t do that every night, I wish I had that kind of time, but on the nights I do, cooking dinner is 10x more fun.

One way I love to relax is by bundling up in my Snuggie (yep, I’m a total cheese ball and I own one hah) and drinking some hot tea (love the scent and flavor of chai). I’m usually a super fast eater/drinker so drinking hot tea really helps to slow down and relax. Not just with food and drinks, but with anything! Really soothing.

On of my FAVORITE ways to relax is a foot soak. It is so easy….I have a small rubber tube that I get out, pour in some hot water and bath salts. I take a yoga class mid-week smack int he middle of the day- its the only time I really find my mind relaxing – it always energizes me and works out all the kinks in my back from being hunched over a computer all day! (a small glass of wine at night always helps too)

truthfully, the best way I find to relax is cooking or playing my flute. If I’m stressed, I love to make big batches of vegetarian chili and cornbread. I’ve also found yoga is a wonderful de-stresser. For me, being active and doing what I love is the best bet.

I like to unwind with a cup of hot tea or cider and a good book while wrapped up in a snuggly blanket.
shelly — October 27, 2009 @ 5:05 pm
If I need to unwind, I skip my workout (coincidentally, I often choose to unwind on my rest day), change into some comfy yoga pants and a t-shirt, then hit the kitchen. Sometimes I make a recipe I’ve been wanting to try out, and sometimes I make an old favorite like risotto with pumpkin and roasted red peppers. The difference is that normally, because I am trying to squeeze work, exercise, chores and “me time” into an evening, I tend to cook healthy but uncomplicated food as a matter of necessity. Cooking is a huge creative outlet for me, so to unwind, I give myself permission to make something a little more complicated and time consuming. I accompany dinner with a glass of nice wine and music, then end my evening curled up with a good book.
AshB — October 27, 2009 @ 5:06 pm

I just learned a new relaxation/stress-reducing exercise! Breathe in and out slowly and deeply for about a minute, listening to the sound and rhythm of your breath. Clench your toes and feet and hold it for about 30 seconds to a minute, noticing the flexion and feeling of your muscles, then release. You then move on to your legs, then your arms, then your shoulders. It feels great!
Sarah — October 27, 2009 @ 9:58 pm

I relax and unwind by going to a different environment in my place and focusing on breathing deeply. It only takes a few seconds of breathing deeply, even if I try to do it longer. Moving to a different place in your home also works wonders. Even if you just do it for a few minutes. The trick is to not plan a time to stop, or leave. Just go, and start to relax by breathing deeply. When you feel relaxed and better, you can go about your business. So often it is literally after just a minute or two, provided you don’t relax your way into a nap (which is quite possible – I’ve done it!). Again, the key is to promise yourself that you will go to the place, and do the deep breathing until you feel better.
Hillary — October 27, 2009 @ 11:39 pm
