Autumn-y

I’ll spare you the gory details of my nearly 7-hour long dentist appointment, but let’s just say, I wasn’t a happy camper by the end of it. I do, however, have two beautiful porcelain crowns on my back two molars, so I guess there’s a bright side to the whole ordeal!

I wasn’t able to eat at all during my dentist appointment, so by the time I got home at 5:00 pm, I was beyond starving. I went almost 10 hours without eating and I was cranky!

As soon as I walked in the door, I immediately dug into the leftover chili in the fridge. I heated it up in the microwave, grabbed a piece of corn bread, and sat down for an early dinner.

IMG_8870.JPG

Food never tasted so good!

IMG_8877.JPG

I hadn’t eaten since breakfast, so, of course, I was still hungry after finishing my bowl of chili. There was some leftover pumpkin cheesecake from our friends, so I dug into that too.

IMG_8878.JPG

I didn’t even bother with a plate! ;-)

Thank goodness for soft food!

IMG_8880.JPG

After eating an early dinner, Mal, Murphy, and I took a walk around the neighborhood. It was such a nice evening in Boston– cool, crisp, and very autumn-y.

IMG_8889.JPG

Murphy was so well-behaved on the walk tonight. He’s sort of getting the whole leash thing!

IMG_8890.JPG

On our walk, we stumbled upon a small Farmers’ Market. We picked up a few goodies for dinner this week.

IMG_8893.JPG IMG_8894.JPG

IMG_8896.JPG IMG_8897.JPG

Our walk continued on for almost an hour. It was nice to spend some quality time with my guys.

IMG_8898.JPG

Hi, boys!

IMG_8899.JPG

IMG_8900.JPG

I’m spending the rest of my evening catching up with emails and my DVR. My hubby just brought me a mug of warm apple cider to help me with my work. What a guy! :-D

Pizza Dip Recipe

You guys asked for it, so here it is! :-D

In an aluminum tray (or baking pan), spread 16 ounces of cream cheese, and then layer your favorite marinara sauce, pepperoni slices, and top with shredded cheese. Bake at 350* F until cheese is melted, approximately 10-15 minutes. Serve warm with crackers, pita chips, or tortilla chips.

Back to the grind tomorrow! I only have 4 days left of my full-time job, but I still have so much to wrap up! Eek!!!

G’night, blog friends!

Ugh, dental work is the worst! Good for you for getting through 7 hours of it… not sure if I could have handled that.
I’m so glad you posted the Pizza Dip recipe. It sounds amazing and pretty easy to put together. I hope I think of this the next time I go to a potluck/ party. Have a great evening!

I can’t even comment on the dentist visit, I think that is one of my least favorite places ever. All of the noises. . . Good luck in your last week of work! Once you’re done, you’re done.
We went for a walk around Castle Island tonight, so many great puppies, and the weather was perfect! Have a good night!

@alyssa: I wish I could! But, sadly, I ran my first and last half marathon last spring. Here’s the recap: http://carrotsncake.com/2009/05/race-recap.html

Thank goodness for SOFT leftovers after dental day…a la chili and cheesecake-comforting,easy on the teeth and YUM!

I HATE going to the dentist and often wonder how dentists can do their job knowing how fearful or wary many of us are of going.

Good for you for “grinning and bearing it”,and I have a feeling you steeled yourself for it knowing how expensive insurance etc is in selfemployment(my world!)

Do you have massage as insurance?I would DEFINITELY squeeze in a massage appt if it is covered. That would be such a treat after the dentist marathon day!

    Have a lovely week :)

That feeling of “just need to eat” is aweful when you can’t. I had that while in the hospital for my surgery and they wouldn’t let me eat.

I love the pics with Mal and Murphy. So cute. They are two peas in a pod :-)

I had a dentist appt last week that took forever (not nearly as long as yours) but I was starvin’ marvin afterwards. My favorite part about Boston was the random Farmer’s Markets everywhere!! Is that an oreo crust on the pumpkin pie!??

4 more days, hah…the countdown has begun! It definately got MUCH colder overnight here in ny too. Can you say chilly!! I have an upcoming dentist appt in a few weeks cuz I think I have a few cavities, but you reminded me that when I go I should have a HUGE breakfast since I will either a.) not be able to eat afterwords, or b.) have to sit in that darn dentist chair for a LONG while. Good thing you had leftovers in your fridge!!

My mom makes a great pepperoni pizza dip that’s so similar and a huge crowd pleaser. The only differences are that she mixes low fat sour cream w/ the softened cream cheese (we use reduced fat as well b/c you can’t taste the difference in the dip!) and swears by Ragu Pizza Quick for the sauce.

I, too, had a many-hours long dental appointment just this summer for two crowns. But when my blood sugar drastically dropped, they actually gave me apple juice and sugar-free yogurt (which I normally would never have bought for myself, but beggars can’t be choosers). Aside from the oddity of eating in the middle of a dental appointment, let me tell you — trying to drink apple juice and eat yogurt with a very numb mouth is not a pretty picture!
