New York City Bound

October 28, 2009

I’m off to New York City this morning! I have a couple of business meetings there, so I am taking a little day trip via Acela, which DEPARTS at 6:10 AM. 8-O Super early, right? Thankfully, I don’t live far from South Station, but it’s still a really early morning!

And, for that reason, I prepared this post last night! ;-)

Breakfast

I packed my breakfast last night to take with me this morning: peanut butter and honey sandwich on raisin bread with a banana. I’ll likely purchase a cup of coffee on the train ride down. I’m sure I’ll need it!

I also packed a Glo Bar and an apple as snacks. I don’t know what’s up for lunch and dinner, so better be prepared than hungry!

I packed my breakfast and snacks in my new “business” bag:

Can you guess where I bought it? You might be surprised! ;-)

Murphy

(Murphy has his own heading on CNC now! ;-) )

Mr. Murphy didn’t want me to leave this morning. Look at that sad face!

Don’t go, Mom!!!

I’m headed back to Boston tonight, so my little pug and I won’t be apart for long.

Sounds like a fun trip. I hope the business meetings go well and are quick enough that you have some time to play int he city!

Glad to see Murphy has his own page. He is a star!

NYC! I’m so envious – it’s one of my most favorite places in the US. I really wanted to book a trip to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year…but it wasn’t in the cards. Oh well, maybe next year! Have a great day!

Welcome to my neck of the woods! Though, it is a pretty lousy day as far as the weather’s concerned. Still, can’t go wrong with the super-reliable Acela train! I’ve taking that to and from Boston quite a few times, it’s hard to go back to regular Amtrak after that experience.

Your dog is sooooo cute! Pugs are my favorite breed.

Definitely all of the foods the bloggers have opened my eyes to! I eat way more healthfully now and actually crave veggies! I think bloggers can have valuable advice. Hopefully I will too someday.

NY sounds fun! I have NEVER been there determined to go run the Marathon there someday though.

I hope your day in New York goes really well! The best healthy tip I’ve gotten from a blog was actually from your blog when you’ve talked about being committed to your healthy lifestyle and how reminding yourself of that helps get you into the gym!

Oh have fun in NYC! Your bag is awesome!!! Oscar has a “Don’t go, mom!” face too. It kills me every morning!
I have gotten so many great tips from bloggers over the last couple of years, I can’t even begin to narrow it down!

I hope you brought your umbrella too, because it is cold and rainy here today! I think it’s going to calm down a little throughout the day, but it was POURING when I went to the gym! Have a great day! I hope you get to have lunch & dinner at some great restaurants!

I’m always so impressed with your travel organization – a good tip to save up for later.
I also really loved Kath’s “Squiggly Line Effect.” I’m still looking to lose weight, but I like her philosophy on maintenance – makes it all feel doable.
Have a great quick trip!

The best tip I’ve received is just generally how awesome running is. Although I am not training for a marathon, just getting out for 10-20 minutes makes me feel better. I never thought I’d be calling myself a runner.

I haven’t been to the city in forever and really want to go! I’m going to guess TJ Maxx for the bag :)

Organization question – when you prepare a blog for the night before, how do you post it? Is it something you can only do on a self hosted blog or would you be able to do it through wordpress? That seems like it would be very helpful!

Green Monsters are a pretty great health tip. Even though I love veggies, they make it easier to get 2-3 more servings a day! Did you get your bag in Wrentham by any chance?

I have learned so much from reading so many blogs, I could not possibly pick just one thing. But I guess the most important thing I have learned is that we are all different and it is important to find out what works best for you as far as diet and exercise go :)

Have fun in NYC, I’m soooo jealous! Love that city.

I hope you packed an umbrella, because it is POURING here in NYC.

I secretly love getting new bags and accessories when I start a different job or hobby… I feel like it helps the transition into the new avenue of my life.

One of the best tips I learned was from CnC! Since I go to a lot of parties/events the suggestion to scope the food table first and then fill a small plate was so helpful! It’s way too easy to just grab handfuls of stuff and not know how much you’re eating! love the bag!

Reply

Pam (Pamcakes and Eggs) October 28, 2009 at 8:57 am

I’m guessing Target????

I’m loving the bag!! It’s very cute and professional :)

Poor little Murph! I hate those sad puppy faces – it’s like they’re trying to guilt trip you into taking them (which it works 99% of the time with my dog).

Hi Tina,

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your blog! The best health tips I’ve received on a health blog are from you! I came across your blog through Healthworks a long time ago. I resonated with your philosophy of giving yourself a small sweet treat everyday instead of completely depriving yourself in order to diet. Your philosophy on food has really helped me change my eating habits and develop an all-around healthy lifestyle. Now I feel like I can indulge in a small sweet treat (like a piece of chocolate) without feeling guilty and over-indulging because I “blew the diet.” Thank you for your inspiration! You are a great writer and I love reading your stuff.

Also, I wanted to say that it’s truly impressive that you are taking action for your dreams by getting a new job and thus focusing more on your passions! That is both brave and healthy, and more than many people would be willing to do for themselves. You set a great example. Thank you!

~Annie
