Hello from Logan Airport

October 19, 2009

Good morning! 8-)

I made it to the airport safe and sound– and it took only 5 minutes door-to-door. I love living so close to the city! :-D

I started my morning with a big bowl of banana oats. I made a double batch for Mal and me.

In the mix:

  • Oats
  • Ground flaxseed meal
  • Vanilla soy milk
  • Very ripe banana
  • Chunky peanut butter

I didn’t have time for coffee at home this morning, so I’ll probably grab some before I board the plane. I definitely need it this morning– I barely slept last night! :-? I guess I was excited/nervous for today?

At the airport, I splurged and signed up for an account with Boingo, a service that provides Wi Fi at over 125,000+ hotspots around the world.

I might as well, right? It’s not like I won’t need internet access with my new career! ;-)

On August 15th, 2009, The Wandering Foodie and his film crew woke up at 4:00 AM to capture a day in the life of a foodie in Boston. They went to 24 restaurants, bars, and hotspots to document the best places to eat and drink in Boston.

On his list was one of my favorite places in the city: Mike & Patty’s. A bunch of my photos appear at the end of his video! Cool! Be sure to check it out! :-D

Coffee Bean Direct Promotion

amnesty with bannerCoffee Bean Direct Offers Amnesty to Consumers Who Vow to Change Bad Coffee Habits for Good

The first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem. Coffee Bean Direct is giving consumers the chance to come clean and admit that they have been depriving themselves of a decent coffee drinking experience. Amnesty will be granted to insure that people come forward and rid themselves of their bad coffee drinking habits once and for all.

“There is no need to be punished for your coffee drinking past,” says Andrew Esserman, CEO of Coffee Bean Direct, “just as long as you put it all behind you and start fresh!”

Those willing to participate in Coffee Amnesty should visit www.coffeeamnesty.com and state their case. For example: ‘Hi I’m Joe and I have been an instant coffee user for 15 years.’ The site is almost like a virtual support group because participants will be able to share their posts with fellow amnesty seekers. They will also have the option to upload their own ‘mug shot’.

All information given will be displayed anonymously on www.coffeeamnesty.com and no charges will be pressed. Those who come forward to state their case will be granted coffee amnesty as well as a Coffee Amnesty Promotional Kit.*

There are two main points of education behind the Coffee Amnesty Project:

  • Not all coffee is created equal – Some people will admit to not liking coffee, but drinking it anyway because they need the caffeine to get through the day. It is quite possible that these people do like coffee, but they have never had good coffee. A truly enjoyable coffee experience comes from freshly roasted beans, not from a can, bag or pod that has been sitting on a self of your grocery store. Before making it to the shelves of the grocery store it may have been sitting around a warehouse for months!
  • Gourmet quality doesn’t need to come with a gourmet price tag – People have been cutting back on specialty and gourmet coffee because times are tight, but the price associated with gourmet is not what other companies would have you believe. Coffee Bean Direct roasts, packs and ships everything themselves, which allows them to offer wholesale pricing to all of their customers. The result is CBD customers paying about half the cost of other gourmet coffee companies.

Coffee Amnesty will take place during the month of October while supplies last.

*The Coffee Amnesty Promotional Kit includes a ½ lb bag of gourmet coffee, a mug and CBD Catalog.

Oh your trip sounds like fun! I agree, it must be good coffee, not coffee from a street vendor in NYC. Hope you get a good cup soon!

I’m so jealous it only takes you 5 minutes to get to the airport! You really do live right down town!!
As for coffee – I actually don’t like it: quality or not. I don’t even like coffee ice cream. There are definitely times I wish I did so I could have a little caffine boost.
Have a great trip!

Safe travels! I’m headed to CA later this week as well.

Living in the city has wonderful benefits. I can hop on our lightrail a few blocks from my house and get to the airport for $2.25.
