Another Busy Saturday

October 24, 2009

I had such a busy Saturday! 8-O I did, however, sleep in until 8:30 AM and IT WAS AWESOME! I felt amazing waking up without an alarm.

After breakfast on the road (egg and cheese sandwich + pumpkin spice coffee), Mal, Murphy, and I picked up my car from the body shop. Mal dropped it off to be fixed earlier this week and it was ready to pick up this morning.

You see, when it rained, water would drip down from the sunroof onto the driver’s side. The leak start out small several months ago, but I waited until it got really bad to get it fixed… like, puddle on the floor of the driver’s side.

Anyway, it’s now fixed!

Mal helped me clean the interior of my car this morning.

Now that I will be driving to work, I want my car to be clean and pug-fur free.

Of course, Murphy helped “Dad.”

After cleaning my car, I headed to the grocery store to do our shopping for the week. With a combination of coupons and in-store sales, I only spent $34 on a week’s worth of groceries. Not too shabby!

I’m such a dork, but I got so excited seeing POM pomegranates at the grocery store! I knew exactly where these babies came from!

IMG_9663.JPG

Speaking of pomegranates, look who was on the POM Wonderful homepage! The POM folks linked to my recap of our orchard tour. Cool! :-D

For lunch this afternoon, I made myself a ham, artichoke, and pesto sandwich on an onion roll.

IMG_9666.JPG

It was delicious! I loved all of the different flavors.

IMG_9672.JPG IMG_9674.JPG

For dessert, I broke out my stash of Scharffen Berger chocolate from BlogHer Food.

IMG_9676.JPG

I ended up trying all four flavors. Yum!

After lunch, I spent the rest of the afternoon getting my life in order! After the insane week that I just had, it took me a good 2-3 hours to organize everything. I feel so much better now!

I was on my own for dinner tonight, so I opened a can of soup and popped it in the microwave.

IMG_9697.JPG

Creamy Butternut Squash soup! Mmmmm… it’s the perfect comfort food.

IMG_9705.JPG

I added a piece of raisin toast for dipping.

Awesome Saturday night at home dinner!

I have a hot date with Murphy and my DVR.

Enjoy the evening, guys!

Busy bee – same as me :) I’m tuckered out now and have a hot date with the Iowa Hawks game on tv!

I saw in my grocery store’s ad yesterday that we’ve got pomegranates on sale 2/$4 right now too – I think I just might pick one up…

Have a great night!

I bought some pomegranates the other day and smiled because I saw the POM sticker and knew where it had come from.

Soup for dinner a staple for me when I’m by myself. It is yummy and filling. I would never think to dip cinnamon raisin bread in soup though. Interesting.

My dinner was soup too. It’s definitely THE comfort food.
Have a good evening. :)

I love having a clean car and having the man in my life help clean it is always nice too! Also, I am a HUGE fan of butternut squash but I haven’t tried the WolfGang Puck variety.

I recently found out that I will be coming to the Foodbuzz Festival. I would love to meet you so hopefully we can make that happen! :)

Sometimes the best Saturday nights are the ones spent lounging with wine in front of a TV. Also, $34 for a week’s worth of groceries? That’s my spending dream come true. Boy, I really need to leave NYC and its overinflated prices.

Wow! $34 for a week’s worth of groceries?!! That is really amazing. I would love it if you could do a post sometime about your grocery shopping and how you keep the cost so low. I’m not sure if it’s because I live in California or because I buy all organic, but my cost for a week is, umm a LOT more than $34! So, I would love any tips you could share!

My boyfriend cleaned out my car for me today too. Which was great…especially since my car had to get towed tonight. :(
I’m not sure I’ve ever eaten a fresh pomegranate before – if they’re at the grocery store tomorrow I’m definitely getting one.

That sandwich looks awesome! Cool idea using an onion roll!

The soup looks good. My favorite Wolfgang Puck soup is the roasted red pepper and tomato soup!

I love those onion rolls. We used to have picnics on our boat every weekend, and those onion rolls were always in the cooler.

I love that feeling of getting life organized. It makes for an even more relaxing night. Hope you and Murphy enjoyed it!

I saw POMs at Whole Foods last night but they were $3 each. I’d definitely grab some if they were $2 like the ones you saw. Perhaps I should try another store other than Whole Paycheck.
