Hi, guys! I’m alive!! It’s been a tough couple of days. Mal and I had the most difficult and exhausting move ever! Basically, everything that could go wrong, did! I’ll spare you the gory details, but next time we move, we will definitely hire movers! I’m never moving myself again!
The never-ending move started on Friday afternoon with a trip to UHall to pick up a truck.

A few hours later, we were finally packed up!

We spend the next 6-7 hours moving furniture into our apartment. Honestly, it was an absolute nightmare! It was just Mal and me lugging heavy, awkward furniture up four flights of stairs. Needless to say, we were feeling bruised and battered by the end!
And, to make matters worse, the battery died on our UHall. (We left the lights on.
) And we were double-parked in the middle of the road in Southie. Ugh, it was a nightmare.
The next morning, we grabbed a quick breakfast from P.S. Gourmet. I had to introduce Mal to their delicious coffee and egg sandwiches! I had an egg and cheese sandwich and a Butter Cookie coffee. Mmmm!

Mal and I still had more moving to do, so we headed to our old apartment to grab the last few things and clean it before the management company came to “inspect” it as part of the “move-out procedures.”

We left the place pretty close to spotless!

Mal and I were both starving when we finally decided to grab lunch. It was probably 3:30 in the afternoon– way past my lunch time!
We popped into Bruegger’s for a couple of bagel sandwiches.

I ordered a Rosemary Olive Oil bagel with sun-dried tomato spread, tomato, lettuce, cucumber, red onion, green peppers, roasted red peppers, and sprouts. It was an AWESOME veggie combo!

Mal had a few bites of my sandwich– he was so jealous!

After lunch, we were off to Ikea, where we bought so much furniture! Our new place is bigger, but lacks storage, so we needed some storage-y pieces for all of our crap stuff.

I love Ikea! Mal and I always have a fun time there!

After Ikea, we dropped off our new furniture at our apartment and then drove to Mal’s parent’s storage unit to store our couch, which was too big to fit up the stairs of our new place. That was a fun discover!
It’s a good thing we got the love seat out of storage, so we have something to sit on!
Mal and I ate dinner around 9:00 pm last night. We had tuna sandwiches and Kettle chips.

And celebratory beers!
It tasted SO GOOD when it hit my lips!

Mal, Murphy, and I spent the rest of the evening putting together furniture and setting up our new place.

Our apartment is still in shambles, but everything is moved in! Finally!
We have a lot on the agenda for Sunday:
- Dog park
- Pet Smart (Murph outgrew his harness already!)
- Grocery shopping
- Writing my Health post
- Unpacking!
Happy Sunday! I’m off!

@Lynn @ The Actors Diet: I wanted ice cream so bad, but the line was too long!
Awww Murphy wanted to help.
After our last move we made the same discovery. It is not worth our hassle and bruises to save a few bucks not hiring movers. Never again!
There is nothing, nothing, *nothing* like a cold beer after moving. Cheers to you for getting it done!
Ah. Your little guy’s cuteness never ceases to amaze me!
Sorry the move ended up sucking, but at least it is done and you don’t have to do it again for a while. That’s the bright side, I suppose. I still hate moving!
That does sound like a nightmare move but hopefully it’s behind you now! Good luck!
We have moved TWICE in the past 3 weeks! The first move was from our apartment into a storage unit/in laws house. Then, yesterday we rented a Uhaul and moved from the storage unit into the house we just bought. Did you ask your friends to help you move??? We are soooooo thankful for our friends Chris & Lara, they have helped us move BOTH times, we owe them BIG TIME. Thankfully my sis in law and her BF came out yesterday too so it was such a huge help to have 6 people moving our crap. We started the official move at 10am by driving to MD (1 hour away) and picking up furniture there. And by 6:30pm we were DONE. I was pretty shocked. I will take pics of the disaster zone tonight! I CAN’T FIND ANYTHING. We basically just moved EVERYTHIGN to the first floor b/c we didnt want ppl getting too burned out walking up 2-3 flights of stairs (our house is 3 levels). We put essentials upstairs like bed, dressers, nightstand and comp desk. We put the living room furniture on 2nd floor, but all the boxes and remaining couches are downstairs on 1st floor. I”M so tired today and regretting coming into work! I want to be home organizing things! The last thing i’ll be able to unpack is the KITCHEn because we dont have much cabinet storage space and our pantry needs shelving installed to make it more functional to store things so for now I have to focus on the rest of the house and its driving me crazy because i’ve gained weight, i’m sick of eating pizza and bagels and I have a 10 miler race I’m suposed to run in 3 weeks and I havent’ actually run/gymed since beginning of august! my gf is going to KILL me. I’m very much a creature of habit and need to get things settled before I can think about starting my gym/running routine again. UGH UGH UGHT! I also started a part-time babysitting job 4:15-6:45 M-F in the eveing so now I have to switch workouts to morning and start wkain gup at 530 and going to gym. ugh ugh ugh1 sorry for the novel but i’m right there with you! my period also started last nigh t(ha!) and I can’t find the 2 massive costco sized boxes of tampons I know i have. uuuuuuuuuuugh! I had to search for a towel this morning to shower. welcome to my hell hole
Sorry to hear that moving was such an ordeal! I hope you guys are getting good and settled now. After our first move, we hired movers the next time too…it is so worth it
Hi Tina,
Any chance you can restore the photos on this post? I followed your links back from your current moving post =). Hope the move went well and that you get settled into your new home quickly! Congrats again on the new house!
