Holy Jalapeños!

September 3, 2009

Tonight called for a glass of wine! Well, 2 glasses of wine! ;-) From a box even!

IMG_6224I am a huge fan of wine in a box! They’re typically delicious wines, affordable, and environmentally-friendly, so why wouldn’t I love them!?! I’ve actually raved about box-o-wine on the blog a few times now (Bota Box Wine and Yellow + Blue wines). Here’s another one to add to the list: Black Box Wines!

A few weeks ago, Foodbuzz announced that they were going to feature Black Box Wines in their next Tastemaker Outreach Program, so, of course, I signed up! I love wine, especially when it comes in a portable, recyclable box.

I received the Sauvignon Blanc variety of the Black Box wine, which I chilled overnight before tasting. It was light and fresh with crisp flavors of citrus fruit. It was a wonderful wine for a warm night in early September. :-D I enjoyed it on the porch while watching the dogs play in the yard.

Dinner

Dave made quesadillas for dinner tonight. They were AWESOME! :-D

IMG_6550His lovely fiancé, Marie, assisted with the quesadilla preparation.

IMG_6549Inside my quesadilla was cheddar, jalapeños, green pepper, and onion with a big spoonful of salsa on the side. I asked Dave to put extra japalpeõs in my quesadilla and he took my very request seriously! I was sweating by the time I took my last bite!

IMG_6554I ate the whole thing! Holy yum!

Time to relax and watch Eastbound & Down! That show is so ridiculous!

G’ night!

Now I want to try wine in a box! Honestly, it’s not really something I’ve considered before, interesting…

Looks like a relaxing night with your friends. I missed your earlier posts today, but I have had a similar conversation with my husband and it was a reality check for me too. It’s just hard when life is throwing you a lot of curveballs! I can’t imagine that it has been easy for you living alone, trying to pack, missing your husband, and trying to balance a full time job with what looks like several part-time jobs free lancing and bloggin! I think it’s important to concentrate on the positive things in life, like you said. But I think it’s also important to give yourself credit for all of the things you are trying to juggle. I don’t even know you, and I can see that you are juggling a lot! Hang in there and have a relaxing evening with your hubby and the cutest pug ever!

Good for you to kick back and have two glasses of wine. It looked like it was the perfect, relaxing evening weather wise as well!

Last night I took it easy, had one (or two) beers, and it felt so good! I was able to leave all my worries behind and change up the routine. In my post last night I was saying how I think for my well being (and my boyfriends.. :) ) I need to have those nights more often.

Night Tina!

I love quesadillas, but leave the jalapenos out :) I am the only person I know who does not like jalapenos haha. Have a nice night!

What a fun night! I think these types of relaxing nights are much needed sometimes. And to think that tomorrow is FRIDAY just makes it even better. ;)

So glad you had a fun night!

I LOVE jalepenos. I asked the man at subway for extra jalepenos on my sandwich today and I too was SWEATIN by the end!

I love jalapenos!! My dad used to trick my old high school boyfriends into eating them to scare them off, haha true story.

I used to only drink boxed wine in college! I should go back to it! Glad you had a relaxing night. Those quesadillas look great!

I love banana peppers but not jalepenos. To hot for me. I like spice but not fire.

Yum! I love jalapenos! One time, I was cutting a jalapeno and rubbed my nose by accident. Needless to say, I was snorting milk for the next 15 minutes. Ahh!

I love Eastbound and Down! I’m a big Braves fan so I get a kick out of watching the John Rocker-ness. Ah, memories!

I’m so obsessed with jalapenos! I put them on almost everything!

Black Box – I’ll have to try that out! When I think of boxed wine, I think of the insane amounts of Franzia we consumed in college!

I guess you have to be careful when asking for extra jalapenos!
Never tried boxed wine, but looks good!

I was able to taste the black box wine one day at our grocery store – I really liked it! Though, I think I remember it being a bit on the expensive side. And since I don’t drink very much, it wasn’t a very good purchase.

That quesadilla sounds delish! Our neighbor just brought over some fresh salsa – YUM – and I’m thinking it’d be awesome with a quesadilla now. I don’t know why I never think of filling mine with anything other than cheese! Must be because I live in Wis. :)

Those quesodillas look really good. I don’t have much to say about the wine since I’m not yet 21 (2 months!), but wine in a box sounds interesting.

I must be craving a quesodilla because those are making my mouth water. I`ve never tried wine from a box, it always just had that stigma about it. But reading about your experiences is getting me closer to picking up one, maybe this weekend even.

I love boxed wine too! I think people are seriously missing out by not getting it! Your quesadilla looks good. I am a huge fan of jalapenos. I like fresh and pickled.

Mmmm jalapenos.. I love them! And I’m sure I’ve read that spicy food is good for weight loss? Or is that a myth?!

Love the look of that wine but a box in the fridge on tap? That would be dangerous in my house!!

When I buy jalapenos its usually the mild to medium to kind. Well by accident I bought the HOT ones and oh boy was my mouth on fire!! I had put them on a pizza I made and after eating two peppers I had to take the rest off- I couldn’t handle the heat!!

Angel Juice is also a great box-o-wine option. And the box is a really pretty Tiffany blue color. Love Eastbound & Down. Can’t wait for new episodes.

It’s funny, in college we used to call boxes of Franzia “Blackout Boxes,” so the “Black Box” seems a fitting name :)

I love the idea of boxed wine. I always think of them as cheap, but I think I’ve been wrong all along. Where did you get this kind?
