HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SISTER!!!
My lovely and wonderful sister turns 28 today! Man, she’s getting old!
As cheesy as it sounds, my sister is the greatest sister anyone could ever ask for– she’s kind and caring, but also fun and goofy! Have an AWESOME day, Sister!

I have today off from work! Wahoo!
But, today’s not really a day off for me. I have a lot to do! I have physical therapy in 15 minutes (gotta hurry!) and then I am off to get a resident parking permit for our car. Southie is notorious for lack of parking and especially non-resident parking, so a permit is much needed! And then I need to be back at our apartment by 11:00 because the cable/internet man is coming between 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Don’t ya love how they give you that window? I gotta boogie!
Breakfast
I made my first batch of oats in our new apartment this morning!

I made banana oats with ground flaxseed meal and two huge scoops of Barney Butter. It was GREAT! I’ve missed my morning bowl of oats!

I’m blogging from Starbucks right now (yay, free WiFi), so I’ll probably grab a caffeinated beverage before I leave. I’m loving my new fall favorite: soy misto with a squirt of pumpkin syrup. It’s heaven in a cup for a fraction of calories and sugar!

Yoda Pug
My mom requested more pictures of Murphy on the blog, so here’s one of him after a bath the other day. He’s channeling his inner Yoda.
Question of the Day
What’s your favorite childhood movie?
With the Star Wars reference above, I thought this would be a fun QofD.
My favorite childhood movie is The Goonies. My sister and I practically know every line by heart! (I’ve actually never watched ANY of the Star Wars movies!)

Princess Bride! Good luck with your errands today.
I actually can’t think of a favorite. It would probably have to be a Disney Princess movie like Little Mermaid or something?
Goonies as well! And Wizard of Oz, and the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland!
Have a great day!
That photo of Murphy is so cute!! I can’t wait to get a dog one day.
Growing up my favorite movie was also Goonies! It was the only movie our family owned (besides Disney movies), and my brother, sister and I used to watch it over and over again! Now, I don’t think I have a favorite movie. I’m not a huge fan of re-watching movies, usually one times does it for me. Enjoy your day off!
I walk through copley every morning-can’t wait to check out the yoga on Monday – thx for the info!
Murphy makes me smile
My favorite childhood movie was 16 Candle’s and Disney’s Lady and The Tramp.
Thanks Peter for the birthday shout out! Your the best sister too
and your pug is cute!
“Heeeeeeey you guys!”
Thats still my favorite movie ever!
Oh and my fav movies are Goonies and Drop Dead Fred!
When I was a kid, I loved muppet movies, especially Muppets Take Manhattan.
My brother used tease me constantly saying I looked like Sloth from the Goonies!:( That’s been our on going joke since we were kids. So I would have to say a tie between Goonies and The Little Mermaid! BTW-Saw it on broadway….not so much really.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR SISTER!!
Yoga pug = priceless
Definitely The Outsiders! Oooo, PonyBoy! Now I need to watch it again. A close second is Grease. Love me some Travolta!
I meant Yoda*
LOVE the Yoda pug
I was a huge fan of Splash with Tom Hanks when I was younger, and I LOVED ET
good luck at PT today!
Happy Birthday to your sister!
yay!
I’m just like you! I’ve never seen Star Wars and people always think I’m so weird. I’m just not into those movies! Goonies reminds me of childhood. My brothers and I love that movie!
That is hilarious! For Yoda alone you should watch them sometime
I love the Goonie’s too. I also watched Stand By Me and Grease 5 million times as a kid (and last week, haha). Sometimes I miss those days!
My favorite childhood movie was Newsies – I know every line and song by heart. Seeing someone’s comment above reminded me that I also loved Drop Dead Fred.
I have a few childhood faves…
- Dirty Dancing (we used to watch it every Sat and Sun one Summer…something like 36 times in 2 months)
- The Lost Boys (still love this…again watched over and over and over)
- Stand By Me (was on the same tape as Lost Boys and actually wore this one out!)
- Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (best slumber party movie ever)
and I’ll admit that I’ve probably seen The Goonies about 2 dozen times over the years and still enjoy it whenever I find it on the TV.
My favorite childhood movie was the Cutting Edge – I still watch it every once in a while now! Also, the Sound of Music – my mom thought I was going to break the tape I watched it so much.
OMG that’s the cutest picture of Murphy ever! I love the Healthworks Yoga flyer. It makes me really happy because it’s very fall like and I love it!
Dirty Dancing! I can’t believe my mom took me to see it in the theater more than once when I was like 10. Pretty tame by today’s standards but kind of hot and heavy at the time!!
Patrick Swayze was so cute…RIP
Courtney
Adventures in Tri-ing
wild hearts can’t be broken! it was about ponies, and i guess it isn’t that well known, but the video store nearest my house had it and we rented it i think every other weekend.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your sister!! I hate when the installation people give you a window – half of the time they end up not coming during that time and then it’s our fault if we’re not there. Aggravating!
Happy bday to your sis! I loved The Goonies as well, but also had obsessions with Dirty Dancing and Dances With Wolves. Why the latter? No idea! LOL!
My favorite was any kind of Disney movie, especially Little Mermaid.
It’s cookie Friday and I’m excited!
Happy Birthday to your sister! Thats a great picture of you two!
Happy Birthday to your sis and I luv Murphy!
Thanks Tina’s mom for requesting that…lol!!
Have a great day!
I have the day off too! Enjoy yours! Happy Birthday to your sister. My sister’s is on Monday-we are having her family over for dinner this weekend.
I LOVE Goonies, Baby Ruth?
We used to watch Big and Ferris Beuler’s Day Off all of the time too!
Good luck at PT!
Happy Birthday Sister!
You are the third person I’ve seen with the day off, I must have missed the memo! Murph is soo cute (I imagine he smells good now too!). I love The Sandlot!

Happy Birthday Carrots N Cake sister!!
I don’t have any movies from childhood but in my teens I loved Dirty Dancing!
Definitely, without a doubt LABYRINTH! I have two copies of the DVD, it’s my bad day go-to movie and I know ALL of the lyrics to ALL of the songs. It started a David Bowie obsession that’s 2 decades in the making!
My favorite childhood movies are Goonies and The Princess Bride…I probably know them word for word!
Home Alone! I have never actually seen “Goonies”….I missed out on a lot of 80′s movies!
HAHAHA! That is the funniest picture of Murphy! I laughed out loud at my desk and got stares from co-workers. I agree, more pictures of Murphy please!
I used to love all the disney channel original movies. I think Motocross was my favorite
I loved this classic musical called Seven Brides for Seven Brothers…I watched it like every day and my parents would get so annoyed hearing it that they would make me watch it downstairs in the basement playroom rather than in the living room
My dad and I also used to watch the Dirty Dozen and all the old 007 movies so I am a big fan of those, too!
Happy Bday to your Sis!

@Kate: My sisters and I watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers ALL the time when we were little!
My favorite childhood movie is Sound of Music. I think I could recite the movie (songs included) from start to finish!
I LOVE The Goonies!!! I watched it so much…I used to have a “Truffle Shuffle” sticker on my old car
Also:
7 Brides for 7 Brothers
Tommy Boy
My mom (who is an extremely patient woman) took me to see The Little Mermaid thirteen times in the movie theater.
I’ve never seen Star Wars either! Or the Rocky movies – my older cousins always balk when they hear that. My favorite was Look Who’s Talking and Look Who’s Talking Too. I adored them! In fact, I actually Netflix’d the second one and watched it with Adam a few weeks ago – still good, but not *quite* as funny as they were when I was 8. Oh, and Father of the Bride, Part 1 and 2 were also favorites!
aw Murphy looks so cute!
Hey you guys! love the gooonies! the pug shot is so so cute
The pup is adorable!
My favorite childhood movie: Angels in the Outfield!
Mine was actually Star Wars. So much so that I dressed up as Princess Leia in a recent staff fundraising calendar! (loser!)… hmm.. maybe I’ll post a pic of that on my blog sometime – it was one of my proudest moments!
“Stand By Me” — the best coming of age movie of all time!
As a much younger kiddo, I LOVED Babar the Elephant. I think I watched that movie 3 times a day…
