Happy Birthday, Sister!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SISTER!!!

My lovely and wonderful sister turns 28 today! Man, she’s getting old! ;-) As cheesy as it sounds, my sister is the greatest sister anyone could ever ask for– she’s kind and caring, but also fun and goofy! Have an AWESOME day, Sister! :-D

I have today off from work! Wahoo! 8-)

But, today’s not really a day off for me. I have a lot to do! I have physical therapy in 15 minutes (gotta hurry!) and then I am off to get a resident parking permit for our car. Southie is notorious for lack of parking and especially non-resident parking, so a permit is much needed! And then I need to be back at our apartment by 11:00 because the cable/internet man is coming between 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Don’t ya love how they give you that window? I gotta boogie!

Breakfast

I made my first batch of oats in our new apartment this morning!

DSC_0006.JPG

I made banana oats with ground flaxseed meal and two huge scoops of Barney Butter. It was GREAT! I’ve missed my morning bowl of oats!

I’m blogging from Starbucks right now (yay, free WiFi), so I’ll probably grab a caffeinated beverage before I leave. I’m loving my new fall favorite: soy misto with a squirt of pumpkin syrup. It’s heaven in a cup for a fraction of calories and sugar!

Celebrate Autumn

Bostonians: Join Healthworks on the last day of summer for three, 60-minute yoga sessions on Copley Square! All members and guests are welcome at the special outdoor yoga sessions led by Healthworks Yoga Teachers.

Yoda Pug

My mom requested more pictures of Murphy on the blog, so here’s one of him after a bath the other day. He’s channeling his inner Yoda. ;-)

Question of the Day

What’s your favorite childhood movie?

With the Star Wars reference above, I thought this would be a fun QofD.

My favorite childhood movie is The Goonies. My sister and I practically know every line by heart! (I’ve actually never watched ANY of the Star Wars movies!)

I actually can’t think of a favorite. It would probably have to be a Disney Princess movie like Little Mermaid or something?

Reply

Morgan September 18, 2009 at 8:39 am

Goonies as well! And Wizard of Oz, and the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland!
Have a great day!

That photo of Murphy is so cute!! I can’t wait to get a dog one day.

Growing up my favorite movie was also Goonies! It was the only movie our family owned (besides Disney movies), and my brother, sister and I used to watch it over and over again! Now, I don’t think I have a favorite movie. I’m not a huge fan of re-watching movies, usually one times does it for me. Enjoy your day off!

My brother used tease me constantly saying I looked like Sloth from the Goonies!:( That’s been our on going joke since we were kids. So I would have to say a tie between Goonies and The Little Mermaid! BTW-Saw it on broadway….not so much really.

I’m just like you! I’ve never seen Star Wars and people always think I’m so weird. I’m just not into those movies! Goonies reminds me of childhood. My brothers and I love that movie!

Reply

Sarah September 18, 2009 at 9:13 am

That is hilarious! For Yoda alone you should watch them sometime ;-)

I love the Goonie’s too. I also watched Stand By Me and Grease 5 million times as a kid (and last week, haha). Sometimes I miss those days!

I have a few childhood faves…

- Dirty Dancing (we used to watch it every Sat and Sun one Summer…something like 36 times in 2 months)
- The Lost Boys (still love this…again watched over and over and over)
- Stand By Me (was on the same tape as Lost Boys and actually wore this one out!)
- Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (best slumber party movie ever)

and I’ll admit that I’ve probably seen The Goonies about 2 dozen times over the years and still enjoy it whenever I find it on the TV. :)

My favorite childhood movie was the Cutting Edge – I still watch it every once in a while now! Also, the Sound of Music – my mom thought I was going to break the tape I watched it so much.

Dirty Dancing! I can’t believe my mom took me to see it in the theater more than once when I was like 10. Pretty tame by today’s standards but kind of hot and heavy at the time!!
Patrick Swayze was so cute…RIP

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your sister!! I hate when the installation people give you a window – half of the time they end up not coming during that time and then it’s our fault if we’re not there. Aggravating!

Definitely, without a doubt LABYRINTH! I have two copies of the DVD, it’s my bad day go-to movie and I know ALL of the lyrics to ALL of the songs. It started a David Bowie obsession that’s 2 decades in the making!

I loved this classic musical called Seven Brides for Seven Brothers…I watched it like every day and my parents would get so annoyed hearing it that they would make me watch it downstairs in the basement playroom rather than in the living room :)

My dad and I also used to watch the Dirty Dozen and all the old 007 movies so I am a big fan of those, too!

I’ve never seen Star Wars either! Or the Rocky movies – my older cousins always balk when they hear that. My favorite was Look Who’s Talking and Look Who’s Talking Too. I adored them! In fact, I actually Netflix’d the second one and watched it with Adam a few weeks ago – still good, but not *quite* as funny as they were when I was 8. Oh, and Father of the Bride, Part 1 and 2 were also favorites!

Mine was actually Star Wars. So much so that I dressed up as Princess Leia in a recent staff fundraising calendar! (loser!)… hmm.. maybe I’ll post a pic of that on my blog sometime – it was one of my proudest moments!

“Stand By Me” — the best coming of age movie of all time!

As a much younger kiddo, I LOVED Babar the Elephant. I think I watched that movie 3 times a day…
