Yesterday was such an amazing day. Probably one of the best in my lifetime! I spent it with friends among gorgeous scenery sipping wine and eating delicious food. What more could you ask for?
From San Francisco, we drove to the Dry Creek region to visit Michel Schlumberger.
It was truly heaven on earth!
Jenna will be working for Michel Schlumberger! It’s such a dream job for her!
We were lucky to be able to try so many delicious wines. I had lots of sips!
Cheers!
After chatting and sipping for a while, we received a tour of the vineyard. On our walk, we encountered a swarm of bees!
My initial reaction was to freak out and run away, but our tour guide was calm, yet excited about the swarm.
Soon, a number of Michel Schlumberger employees gathered around.
It was a cool sight to see, but I was still nervous!
After about 15 minutes, the bees swarmed together around the Queen bee.
Our tour continued through the MS estate. All of it was breathtaking!
There was an organic garden with all sorts of delicious foods that we were allowed to pick right off the plant.
We tried cherry tomatoes, edible flowers, and wonderfully ripe figs.
Then we headed up to see the vineyards.
I had never seen anything so beautiful!
Bloggers in wine country!
Next, we headed inside to the fermenting facility.
There, we samples the fresh grape juice before the fermentation process. It was sweet and delicious.
After our tour, we headed back to the winery to meet Jenna’s friends. We listened to live music, drink wine, and enjoy some fresh bread and cheese.
For me, it was heaven on earth!
Jenna’s friend, Rocky, gave us a photography lesson.
I still need to work on my photograph skills, but I now better understand how my camera operates!
For dinner, we headed to Zin in downtown Healdsburg.
The restaurant was so adorable!
We did a lot more wine drinking there!
Zin’s menu was outstanding! The appetizers, in particular, sounded delicious. We ordered one of each for the table.
We started with fried green beans.
Kath and I shared a plate of them.
Next up were corn and ricotta ravioli. Loved these!
Then we had grilled shrimp and peppers with a lemony sauce.
And then “Figs in a Blanket,” which were my favorite appetizer of the bunch. They were figs wrapped in a puffed pastry with blue cheese and prosciutto.
And finally, we shared a plate of tomato brucchuetta. The tomatoes were SO fresh!
At this point I was pretty stuffed, so Kath and I shared a butternut squash with apple and bacon soup as our entree. It was delish!
After dinner, we went to the hotel and passed out.
What a wonderful day! It’s one I will never forget!
