Dreams

September 28, 2009

Spending the weekend in the presence of inspirational and successful bloggers, who truly love what they do, has really made me think about what I want to do with my own life. Of course, I have dreams to become a big-time blogger, who shares her love for healthy living with others and occasionally travels to taste the world’s fine cuisines with her handsome husband and cutie-pie pug, but how do I make these dreams come true? That is the question, isn’t it?

Have you ever made one of your dreams come true? What did you do?

Lunch

I threw together today’s lunch in about 60 seconds. A lack of food actually made meal planning easier than expected! ;-)

I started with celery sticks and (wrinkly) grape tomatoes.

And then moved onto pineapple-flavored Chobani and Kashi Go Lean Crunch. Love this combo! It never gets old for me.

It’s a beautiful day in Harvard Yard today! I want to go out and play!

My stomach is full of butterflies! I can’t believe I’m hosting a blogging seminar tonight. Ahhh, I’m SO NERVOUS! I’ll be sure to give you guys a recap tonight– hopefully, everything goes well!

Back to work!

I find myself more trying to recreate the good feeling from positive dreams rather than them coming true on their own. Maybe that’s how they’re meant to work, as inspirers for life. So mysterious, I’d love to read a good book all about the meaning of dreams if I could find one

Good luck tonight! I’m sure you will do great!

I am in the process of making my goals a reality! Last year I quit my big girl job and started teaching knitting with my own company, The Sweatshop of Love, and I only need a part time job to supplement it. I’m writing a knitting and food blog which I’ve always wanted to spend more time on, and I’m writing a pattern book! So it’s in the works!

You will do a fantastic job, I have no doubt!!! Think of how inspirational you will be to those folks in addition to how inspirational you already are to so many people in the blog world!

It’s been my dream to go back to school for a second bachelor’s degree….in health and nutrition! I hate my job and I decided I couldn’t go through life hating my career. I’m going to be taking online classes at a local college as I can afford them. It’s going to take some time because I can’t afford to quit my job, but putting in the hard work and patience is worth it. Once I get the core classes for my major out of the way, I’ll go full time.
You can do anything Tina. I’m sure you’ve made many connections over the past years due to the blog. Send out some emails asking for job leads or advice in general. You never know who might respond :)

I’m trying to figure out my dreams right now, which is making it hard to make any steps in a positive direction. But I’m working on it, and that’s all that matters, right?

Figuring out my dreams is the stage I’m in right now. Someone actually asked me this morning “If you didn’t have to work, what would you do?” and now it’s making me think :)

Thanks for putting a recap of your seminar up. I want to go but wouldn’t have gotten there in time. You will be great!!

Good luck tonight and can’t wait to see how it goes!
My dream is to go back to school for a second bachelors degree, but with LOTS of school loans and just moving to a different state it’s been hard.
But I just got a call my work place today offering me full-tim finally with lots of hours and benefits. So right now I called school and signed up!
It feels great. Your blog is definetely big time and hope your dreams come true more and more, traveling and tasting cuisines sounds amazing:)

Good luck tonight!! It was my dream to have a freelance writing career and I just did it! I say, you’ll never accomplish anything if you don’t start it. And you’ve started big time and made it a long way so far!! Things take time, but think about where you are now compared to last year?? I think you’re well on your way to being a big-time blogger and you’re just too modest!

(side note) I got a new roommate who I found on Craigslist in Sept. and right before she moved in, she e-mailed me and was like “I saw your blog on Carrots n Cake’s blog!!! I love her!! How do you know her??” She just moved here from NY and is a huge fan of you!

Love the new picture of you on the side! ;)

I recently realized that I actually already had a dream job – managing a cafe – but left when I felt pressured to go to university. While I’m in a stable job now, it’s just not working for me. I want to be back in that cafe atmosphere!! Who care’s if it’s not a “real job.” :P

Good luck tonight! You’ll do great!

I sure hope to accomplish my dreams. Right now I don’t really know what my dreams are exactly. I realized a few months ago that I need to get out there and do something with food so I started my site Lettuce Love. I am also in the process of starting a snowboarding site (snowboarding is my other obsession after food). I don’t know what the future holds but I know that I am heading in the right direction and that is all I need!

i’ve made my dream come true (starring in movies) on a number of occasions, but i have to say part of it is knowing that just because you’re living your dream it doesn’t mean you’re happy. having a solid foundation for them is all i really have control over. good luck tonight! you will be great!

My goal was to be a pastor and not the pastor’s wife. The church I grew up in there were no women pastors. When I found a home with THe Salvation Army I saw great examples of women in ministry. Now I’m a real pastor and so is Hunni. We both are ordained and we both do all aspects of ministry. It is really fulfilling.

You will do awesome tonight. I totally wish I could make the trip to your end of the state just to attend.

My dream was to get my Masters and PhD. I didn’t really know what I was doing the first time I sent out applications, so I didn’t get accepted to any of my top choices. I emailed all of the schools, telling them I’d be applying again the next year and asking them for tips on what I could do better next time around. Then I emailed them periodically throughout the year to remind them that I was still interested in their programs (aka I bugged them for a year). I got accepted to my top choice Masters program, will graduate in May with a 4.0, and am about to start applying to PhD programs (and hope that the same strategies will work again!). In other words, determination and perseverance were what did it for me.
Good luck tonight! You’ll be awesome! : )

Tina,
You can make your dreams come true by continuing to do what you do! You are awesome and I think your blog will only become increasingly popular with time…
I also think that pushing yourself and facing your fears of public speaking will only help to make your dreams a reality- you are getting your name out there!!

My dream when I graduated college was to move to Atlanta with my then boyfriend (now husband) and work in the television and film industry, which I did. Then, after my dad died after a four month illness, my dream was to become a mom, which I did! Later, I wanted to own my own business but remain at home with my kids, so I became a professional photographer. My family moved to California five years ago (another dream) and we opened a contemporary furniture showroom in La Jolla. Now that my kids are older and I am not yet too old, I’d like to pursue my very first dream (the one that led me to a degree in journalism) of working in the sports industry as a reporter or for a professional team–this one seems like it might be tough, but after re-reading this post I think I can do it if I really want to! Dreams, as another commenter stated, evolve and change as we go through various stages of life and that’s a good thing!

My dream is to work in PR/Communications for a winery or other food/hospitality-related establishment. Starting my blog, taking a food writing class, and my 6 years of communications experience are steps toward this, but it still seems SO far away!
You are seriously a big time blogger NOW!

You’re definitely a blog celebrity to me! I’m plugging away at making my career dreams come true right now, which is to get a product development job in the outdoor/running industry. I’m starting at the bottom, which is humbling at times, but I know this is what I need to do to make my dream a reality!
