Back to Reality

September 28, 2009

My weekend on the West coast was practically a dream come true– good friends, wine country, perfect weather, and a food blogging conference. What more could I ask for, right? But, now it’s back to reality. So, hellllooo, Monday!

I woke up so confused this morning (ugh, jet lag), but managed to crawl out of bed and whip-up a delicious bowl of banana oats. (They always seem to make things better!) And a super ripe banana in my fruit bowl was just begging to be made into my breakfast. Those are the best type! ;-)

I topped my banana oats with pumpkin seeds and oven-roasted almond slices.

And, of course, Barney Butter.

I also brewed myself some coffee using my new Bodum mini French press from the BlogHer Food after party. It’s so cool!

I added vanilla soy milk and squirt of agave nectar to sweeten it up. Perfect!

My Best Get-Slim Trick

October hasn’t even started yet, but it’s already been a good month for me! :-D

My Shape debut was obviously awesome, but now check out my get-slim trick in Health magazine (October issue), page 67!

My tip was about how to turn exercise into a guilty pleasure by planning it around your favorite TV shows. Cool!

Question of the Day

Today’s question of the day is “borrowed” from the Divine Caroline website:

If you had $5,000, how would you use it to enhance your life?

My Learn to Blog seminar at Healthworks is tonight! I’m already really nervous! 8-O

Tina! Congrats on all of your magazine appearances! I was working out this morning on the treadmill with my Health magazine and I remember the tip about exercise as a guilty pleasure – I didn’t read the name of who wrote! How fun that it is you!!
:) So excited for you and your wonderful weekend!

Don’t you love HEALTH Magazine, I found it while waiting for a prescription at Walgreens one day and immediately sent off for a subscription to it the next day. They have such great tips and articles. I would us part of the $5K to pay off some credit card bills, some for a “rainy day/happy fund” as I call it and then I would have to splurge and get myself some new Runny Apparel (shoes, socks, shorts, tops, bra’s, a Garmin I have been wanting forever, etc.)!

I’d hire a weekly house cleaner and massage therapist with my $5k. If there was any left over I’d pay for all those college applications my daughter is filling out!!

Congrats on all the magazine love, Tina – how fun! If I had $5,000 I would use half of it to pay off my credit card debit and put the other half into our new house. There are so many projects we want to do and $2,500 would cover lots of fun stuff.

Back when I was single and childless, I would schedule treadmill workouts around The Bachelor….nothing like mindless, ridiculous entertainment to make a workout fly by!

5k would go into a “flight fund”. Since I live 3,000 miles from any family, I’d use it to go see them or fly them out to see me! There’s nothing worth more to me than spending time with them.

I would enhance my life by traveling and educating myself on different cultures. Food says a lot about a country!

I totally read your Health caption at the gym this morning. I didn’t know it was you, but it was my favorite tip and something I do often!
