Summer Tidbit: Spend An Entire Day Outdoors

August 5, 2009

Hi, it’s Anna from Anna’s Eats. Summer is my favorite time of year! I can’t get enough of it and always try to enjoy it to the fullest since hot summer days don’t stick around for long in New England.

Remember when a summer day meant playing outside ALL day? Riding bikes, building forts, going to the playground, running under the sprinkler feeling the grass between your toes, ahh good memories huh?

These days I find myself sitting at my desk with Goosebumps because the air conditioner is on full force at work. Does anyone else have that problem? I sometimes feel like I need to go outside during lunch just to defrost myself!

My FUN summer tidbit is to spend an entire day outdoors so you get that sleepy feeling at the end of the day from breathing in so much fresh air and soaking up the sun. And, no e-mail checking allowed! What made those days so great was being in the moment with nothing to do but ENJOY the day. Whether you spend the day in the sun at the beach, sitting under a tree reading a book at the park, riding your bike or watching a baseball game it will bring back that carefree summer feeling!

Beach Feet

Don’t be afraid to get enjoy the day to the fullest. You are supposed to get a little sand under your toenails!

Baseball Game
I recently went to a baseball game on a warm, sunny day. Instead of rushing out with the crowd at the end of the game I waited for the crowd to leave. This way I was able to enjoy the atmosphere and the fresh air for a little while longer.

Great post! Summers as a kid were the best…I loved getting all itchy from rolling around in the grass all day, and chasing after the ice cream truck when I could convince my mom to give me a dollar.

Totally can feel you on the defrosting bit! I LOVE being outdoors and I totally wish I could go out more often! Summers are awesome… why do they have to go by so fast?

Its been so long since I’ve done this that I almost don’t remember those days. I need to take a day to just enjoy the nice weather before it disappears. Thanks for the reminder.
