Good morning, blog world! Happy Monday!
I have lots to do this morning, so let’s get right to it!
Breakfast
I started my morning with a bowl of Smart Start cereal with sliced banana and non-fat milk.

Smart Start cereal is quite the tasty cereal, but the ingredient list is a mile long– most of which are weird-o, hard-to-pronounce ingredients.

I didn’t have the healthiest choices for breakfast, but I made due. Breakfast was still yummy and satisfying, and hopefully, it will hold me over until lunchtime.

I took the commuter rail into Boston this morning, so Mal and Murphy dropped me off at the train station. Muphy waited patiently… with his butt in the console cup holder.

Let me just say that I am totally impressed by the commuter rail. It’s an easy and comfortable ride with free Wi-Fi and it takes practically no time to get into the city. It actually takes me the SAME amount of time to travel 20+ miles from my hometown as it does to travel by T from my apartment, which is only about 9 miles!

Before dropping me off at the commuter rail, Mal and I took a quick trip to D&D. I enjoyed my iced coffee on the trail while staring out the window and day dreaming. I had a nice little morning!

Question of the Day
How long is your commute to work/school?

Your pug is just SO CUTE I can’t get over it. Keep putting him in every post
I live off campus, so about 2 miles from school. I take the bus, which takes like 15 minutes or bike to school when it’s nice out.
My commute to work takes me between 30 and 45 minutes depending on traffic – sometimes longer in the afternoons. I don’t mind it as much in the mornings, but hate the drive in the afternoon because I’m always trying to get to the gym to make spinning or step.
I love Dunkin’ Donuts. In MA my gramma lives right by one, so I am always splurging when I visit!!
I just live 7/10 of a mile from the University–it’s super nice!
Hahaha love the butt in the cup holder.
I use to take the commuter rail into Boston from Andover! My commute now is about 30 minutes in, 40 minutes home. I wish I lived down the road so I could walk or bike!
I’m a teacher in New Jersey and my commute is about 50 mins. to an hour long. I feel like a practically live in my car!
I like ~ 20 miles from work and on a good morning, it takes me 30 minutes. Bad morning? 45. Good evening? ~40 Bad evening? Over an hour! It’s pretty sporadic too. I hate it. These times are a lot better than they used to be though bc I am carpooling now! Not for too much longer though…
School starts back up soon.
I love Murphy’s seat. My dogs like to sit on a pillow or blanket between our front two van seats. Sometimes they want to sit on one of our laps to look out the window.
My commute is about 1 minute down my apartment stairs to my office
Hunni and I live in the apartment above the church we run. It’s nice most days.
About a 7 minute walk to school! I’m a grad student and I pay an exorbitant amount to live in an apartment right across the street from the building, but it’s so worth it.
I love calm commutes where you can stair out the window and totally daydream! My morning commute to school is about 20-25 minutes just depending on traffic. i wish i didnt have to drive everywhere that i go, but unfortunately i’m forced too. It would be so nice to be able to drink my coffee without having a bit of road rage! i want to sit and just relax before a hectic day! Hope you have a fab day Tina!
I used to take the commuter rail OUT of Boston to go to work on the south shore. I hated it because I had to wait an hour in between getting out of work and the next commuter train home. I wouldn’t get home until almost 8pm. I do agree that the train itself is very comfortable and an easy ride. I’m glad I have a new job and my commute is only about 20 minutes.
Murphy is adorable!!
i want my own little murphy!!
today i biked and it was about 35 minutes (it’s an 8 mile ride). if i have to take the bus + walk a mile and a bit from the bus station, it’s closer to an hour, but if i take the subway instead of walking (which i’ll only do if it’s raining hard), it’s about 40 minutes. a 20 minute commute is my ideal (optimally by foot or bike!) but this will do for now.
my commute to work length depends on how i get here
Murphy is too cute, looks like a happy co-pilot.
My commute is crazy short, about 3 miles. I try to ride my bike but often I have to run errands during lunch or go somewhere straight after work so I usually get stuck driving. I do on occassion run home at lunch, walk the dog and then run back. I’m hoping I can do that tomorrow. Great way to fit a workout and a chore in!
Aww I remember when Niko could fit in a cup holder:D My commute is about 20 minutes, by car. I live in the same city as I work in, but the complete opposite end.
Love that lil Murphy!!!! It takes me 10-30 minutes to get to work, depending on traffic.
I like commuter rail rides too – I take the train from Ipswich to North Station sometimes and its really relaxing.
My commute to work right now is about 15 minutes but starting next week, it’ll be about 20. I’m still excited though because I’ll be able to share rides with my fellow.
My commute is an hour and a half each way
. It leaves me a lot less time each day to do the things that I like. I hope to get a job closer in the future. There are lots of people commuting down here into DC from even farther areas (West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware). It’s crazy! Luckily I take a train to connect with the subway so I can ready a lot.
My commute was 60 minutes to work and about 70 on the way home back when I was working. Luckily I was able to adjust my work schedule to off hours which made it a little better but not much. Anyone that lives/works in the Chicago suburbs knows what I’m talking about! Now my commute is about 10 seconds from my bedroom to my computer!!! Love it!

Glad the commuter rail worked out so well!
Murphy!
I just can’t get enough of that face!
When I was at my internship in Watertown, it was a 1.5 hour drive from Plymouth (UGH) or a 40-minute T and bus commute from Somerville.
Had no idea the commuter rail had wifi! Very good to know
Glad to hear that you had a nice morning on the commuter rail. My commute is just a mere 10 minutes, which is heaven on the days that I hit the snooze button one too many times.
maybe you should move back to the “country”!
I can’t get over how adorable Murphy is, sooo cute!
I work from home so I don’t commute. When I did work out of the home, my last place of employment was about an hour round trip.
I know, the commuter rail is amazing! It normally takes me about 45 minutes from my house to work, door to door. I have a 15 minute walk to the T, I ride for about 10-15 minutes, then walk again for 15-20 minutes.
But, as you said, if/when I’m coming from my inlaws house on the commuter rail, it takes about the same amount of time, and they live over 20 miles away!
My commute to work is about 30 minutes, and to school (from home) its about 25. Eeep. Murphy’s such a cutie!
After leaving the house and dropping one off at daycare and the other off at elementary school and arriving to work…@ 30minutes.
I live about a mile away from my job, but since I have to look nice & professional (i.e. not sweaty) I drive to work, so it takes all of five minutes. Maybe now that it’s cooling off, I could ride my bike!
I seriously do not think you could have gotten a cuter puppy. I love the pictures of him passed out from his weekend festivities.
I don’t have a commute – my day starts as soon as D’s feet hit the floor.
I had Smart Start for breakfast, too!
My commute is about 45 minutes, with one or two trains, depending on which job I’m going to.
Yeah, sometimes boxed cereal can be a drag, but the bananas llok good with it. My commmute to wokr is thankfully only 20 minutes from my apt.
I’m about 10 min to work, maybe 15 in traffic. I plan to move closer to the office and start biking..EVERYONE bikes here in austin!
looks like such a fun weekend! Our commute is 30 minutes driving over mountains to work – pretty, but I sometimes wish it wasn’t such a long drive there and back every day. AND there are no public transportation options out here, so we have to drive.
I have a 40 minute commute to school, but I really don’t mind it as long as I have a hot latte in the cup holder and some good music on my ipod.
LOVE all the pics of Murphy, by the way. Too adorable!
About 15 minutes, but I hope to soon be self-employed, so eventually zero!
My commute is about 10-15 minutes by bus in the summer, but because of how chaotic my neighborhood is during the school year (Huntington Avenue in Boston/JP) it can get up to 30-35 minutes.
My commute is about 10 minutes on foot.Love it.
my commute is 20 minutes of driving my fiance to his van pool, cause i don’t have a job (and when i did i was a whopping 5 minutes)
my fiance gets an hour commute each way. not so fun for him!
Aw, you did have a nice little morning! And Murphy is so cute with his butt in the cup holder
Have a great day, Tina!
Your morning sounds very lovely! My commute is about 45 minutes in the morning (leave very early) and it can be anywhere from 1 hour to 1.5 hours on the way home. Luckily I only commute twice a week and work from home the other days! Not too shabby
When I used to take the commuter rail from South Acton to North Station, it was an hour-long trip! Even on the express train!! For the last year my commute has been super easy. approximately 45 minutes door to door. I also have various bus routes and even a commuter rail station.
Murphy is killing me! That dog is too cute!!!
I work in Burlington, MA (right across from the mall, holla Nordy’s!) and it’s about 45 minutes. I used to take the commuter rail into North Station and the T to the Pru, which wound up being like a 3 hour round trip. Ugh. The only prob w/ public transportation for me was I always picked up weird little bugs and viruses. Even though I would sanitize my hands like crazy.
My commute is about an hour, sometimes a little more and sometimes a little less. I feel like I live on the subway, but you do get a lot of reading and sleeping done and thank God for iPods!
ummmm I really can’t get over how cute Murphy is, his butt fits in the cup holder! That’s just too much
Good for you for taking a break from it all for a day. I just started myself but I already find myself not wanting to document EVERYTHING.
Murphy is just the cutest!
I drive to work everyday and it takes me about 35 mintues. When my office was downtown I used to take the Express Bus and that was wonderful and stress free! Those were the days…
Hi Tina! My commute is a 10 minute walk now
The joys of living so close to downtown.
My commute is an hour drive each way. But I can work from home whenever I want, so it evens out.
Love, love, love the commuter rail! I’ve taken it quite a few times from Providence into Boston. Who can beat a 14 dollar round trip visit and no worries about parking or driving!
My daily commute is about 12 minutes (yup, I’ve timed it) from Pawtucket into downtown Providence. I definitely could take the bus or bike to work, but I’ve got so many community meetings that it would be inconvienent and very sweaty.
My commute = 2-minute drive or about a 15-minute walk
MAILED YOUR PACKAGE OUT TODAY, MY FRIEND!!
@VeggieGirl: Mailed out yours too!
My commute is about 20-25 minutes in good weather, about an hour in bad weather. I wish it was shorter and that I could take public transportation.
