Look what came in the mail for me yesterday!
How adorable is this print? It says it all, right?
I love it and I can’t wait to hang it in our new place!
If you want your own copy, you can purchase one from MadeByGirl.
Breakfast
I ended up eating 3 thousand bowls of cereal when I got home last night (damn drunk munchies!), so I kept breakfast light this morning.
I made a fruit smoothie with peach, nectarine, banana, vanilla soy milk, and a packet of Amazing Grass Pomegranate Mango Infusion. The smoothie was light and fresh, but the Pomegranate Mango Infusion sort of gave it a chalky taste.
I added a bowl of peanut butter Puffins (thanks, VeggieGirl!) for some feel-good carbs.
My Diet.com Debut
Remember how I mentioned that I co-hosted a video about healthy Mexican options for Diet.com? Well, here’s the final product! Hope you like it!
The video pretty much speaks for itself, but I have to say 2 things about it:
- I am INCREDIBLY nervous (if you can’t tell) and SO awkward! I can barely watch myself! But, watching myself made me realize a number of things about my “camera presence” that I want to change in the future. Live and learn, right?
- This video was shot in ONE take! It took us longer to set up and display the food than it did to actually film it. Crazy, right? But, also pretty cool!
It was really fun making a video about healthy eating– maybe there’s a future in it for me?
Hopefully, Sarah and I will team up again soon.
Thanks, Sarah and Diet.com!

LOVE that print!
Drunk eating… haha, you’re not alone. But it could we a lot worse than cereal! Chinese or pizza is normally my drunk munchie of choice.
What a great opportunity! I love all of the influential and inspirational things you have been able to do with your blog!
Looks like a fun night last night. I am so happy to be living in Boston again. There are so many fun places to go and so many people to meet!
Have a great day!
You did GREAT!
I love speaking in front of large groups! My largest has been 1700 people! You have to breath, and have FUN! Feed off of the energy from the audience, and it can make you feel higher than a great 5 mile run!
Great video & great tips, esp the drink tips, I think that people don’t realize how bad those frozen concoctions can be for you when there are so many better options! I love speaking in front of big groups, have to do it all the time with my job, however I def get a bit nervous too – but nothing feels better than the feeling of accomplishment when you are done… I love that kinda pressure (something is prob wrong w me haha)!
oh man. i get SO NERVOUS in front of cameras. i don’t even know why! i was taking a music conducting class a few years ago and twice in the term, someone came in to video each of us conducting so we could actually see ourselves and hear what the choir was doing in response to our direction at the same time. as it turned out, i absolutely loved it. i loved watching myself after and i watched my videos again and again. i just need to get over that initial nervous/awkwardness
I love that print and her site – I might have to get one of the love prints!
Puffins are my fave and I love how low calorie they are too!
You didn’t look nervous — you reminded me a lot of Cristin, when she goes on the Fox morning show. Very natural.
You did a GREAT job Tina!! You should be very proud of yourself.
Speaking of what Kel said about breathing… I’m sooo bad about that. I’m a school social worker and I even get nervous talking to classrooms of students… I forget to breathe and it’s just bad news!!
i love that poster. so appropriate! congrats on the video – you did beautifully!
That print is amazing (and currently back ordered on the website!!) I think you did an amazing job in the video! I get REALLY nervous with public speaking and you did a better job than I would ever do!
Tina you did a fabulous job. I did not think you looked or sounded nervous at all. I really enjoyed the video – thank you for sharing it with us. You really get such cool job opportunities. Do you have any tips on how someone like myself might be able to get involved with projects like you do? I would love to do some freelance writing. Thanks, I hope you have a fabulous day. We are supposed to have lovely weather here in MA.
I agree with the others – you do not look or sound nervous! Very authoritative! Did you get to eat the food and was it yummy?
I was going to say just what Sara did, coulda been worse! You can spin it as getting in some whole grains and calcium
You got to laugh about the munchies, I usually gravitate towards Cinnamoin Life. Strange huh?
Have a wonderful Thursday, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Dang desk jobs, grrr!
LOVE that print – I will have to check out her website! I starred your video in my reader so I can check it out later – it sounds cool! And UGH, I hate speaking in public. I don’t know why it comes so natural for some but is so hard for others. I just don’t like it at all!
Great job on the video! You really didn’t appear that nervous and I thought that the tips you gave were awesome. What a fun thing to do! I hope to see more in the future.
Such a cool print…so true about how to start any morning.
I get really nervous on camera and speaking in front of people which is kind of funny with my job. I’m the pastor and we record our services to air on TV so I’m doing both each week. I get nervous but I’ve learned to harness it in instead of almost throwing up each week like I used to. You’ll learn and adjust as you do it more.
That print is ADORABLE! I love the modern, type-face art. And blogs and coffee is so perfect for you
I also loved your Tweet last night about being drunk on a weeknight. We’ve all been there! Hope the AmazingGrass and Puffins fixed you right up.
As for video presence, I think you did great! My husband is a videographer and he has put me in a few of his videos. It is NOT as easy as public speaking (in my opinion), and, because you can play it over and over again, you critique yourself forever!
Great video! Looks like you had fun doing it.
Tina, I thought you did a GREAT job. I was a broadcast journalism major in college and know how hard it is to act when you’re on camera. Especially at the beginning of a newscast when they would introduce me – it was hard to remember to just keep smiling and keep on staring at the anchors, no matter how crazy I felt!! But I think you did a wonderful job and came across as very knowledgeable and well spoken. Kudos!! Don’t beat yourself up about it
You did great! I would have been incredibly nervous…
I spoke in front of large groups during last semester’s classes, which really sttttretched my comfort zone to the max. I’d much rather speak one-on-one with people or in a small group…there’s just something about standing in front of a large group, and presenting that makes me forget what I’m about to say. ha…
The good news is that it progressively gets easier and easier, and the more videos you do, the more comfortable you’ll become I’m sure!
great job on the video! you look so beautiful.
Cute print!!
I get nervous speaking in front of small groups, let alone big ones… like even meetings with my work team where I have to talk, I freak out!
LOVE the print!
I have no problem speaking in front of groups, hence my career as a teacher…but you couldn’t get me on camera unless you paid me!
Great job Tina! I hope more offers come your way.
I like that print. The frame gives it a vintage look with a modern twist. Very cool.
LOVE the print!
You did a great job!! I had never thought of asking for lime juice instead of sour mix!! So smart!
I’ve had to do several little bits on camera when I worked in Marketing at a Food Co-op and what I learned was pretty simple. Smile. Smile when you’re talking and smile when you’re not talking. I also will always ask the producer if I should view the camera as a third person in the conversation and make a lot of eye contact or if I should just be in conversation with the host of the show.
BUT I think you did a GREAT job!!
I love that print!
Great video and this tips are really helpful. These are great to remember next time I’m at a Mexican restaurant — yum, I’m hungry!
You did a FABULOUS job in the video! (I think you are being overly harsh on your self critique!)
Loved the tips!
I love made by girl! she’s got some cute prints! when I saw this print a month ago I fell in love with it. too cute.
I thought you did great in the video! I probably would have been either refusing to look at the camera or awkwardly staring at it. You were informative and well spoken!
Thanks for sharing it!
The print is totally cute. I think you did fabulous in the video! All great tips too. Hooray for Mexican. How nervous I get usually depends on who I am presenting to! The smaller the crowd, the better I do (duhh) and the more familiar I am with them the better I do. I try not to dwell on my nerves and it usually makes them go away
Love the print!!! You are a doll
OMG i love that print! how adorable!!
I thought your video was AWESOME Tina. you didnt look nervous at all! So many great tips too!
Wow!!! Tina your were awesome!!! I loved your answers. You are sooo cute!!
Glad you had a fun night. Funny you ate cereal when you got home. We were up most of the night-hubs brother was visiting and we had to take him to the train at midnight-long story, but anyways…I ate cereal at 1 because I was starving for some reason.
Great job on the video! I hate watching myself too. I have done some tv spots for a local channel here in Salt Lake City about healthy eating/cooking etc. I never like to watch the tapes:) You rocked it though!
You did super! Really! You didn’t look nervous at all, except a tad at the beginning, but who wouldn’t be?! You go girl! And that food looks fab!
oh tina, you did a great job!!! as time went on it looks like you got more and more comfortable. and you barely said any word fillers (um, etc)! very impressive!
I think you did a great job!! WAY better than I would be on camera
And that print is SO adorable! I definitely need that for me apartment!
I used to always get nervous, but having to take public speaking for my major REALLY helped out when talking on camera. We had to film all of our speeches, and then watch them as a class. Talk about awkwardness!
Great job! I’m sure as time goes on you will get more comfortable.
I hate public speaking or being filmed. But I’ve started to get over that a bit being on our city’s school board… our meetings are filmed & air on the local channel.
I hate speaking in front of groups. I get so nervous! I have taken about three speech classes throughout college and grad school and still fear it every time. I guess it takes a lot of practice!
Great job with the video! I would be nervous too.
You did great! I get really nervous doing public speaking of any sort!
I’m the worst public speaker!! My voice gets all shaky, my face turns bright red and I sound like I’m about to cry.
You did much better than you think you did!
Tina, I think you were great!
I don’t mind public speaking as much anymore since I am more confident in myself (thank you weight loss and healthy lifestyle!) but I don’t think I’ve ever really been on camera, so I wouldn’t know, haha.
what a cute print! I definitely get nervous in front of big crowds and cameras – I think you did great!
Your video was great, Tina…just BE yourself!
Love the poster!
Tina you were just fine! I think that in those situations you think you look more nervous than you actually do. The fact that you did it in one take is impressive!
I get very nervous but apparently hide it well. It more depends on who is in the room as opposed to how many. For the most part my only presentations have been at work and in my MBA classes. I’m fine for the most part, but I was VERY nervous when venture capitalists came to our class a few times. I thought my heart was going to explode!
LOVE That print- so gorgeous!
I think you did great on the video- I get super nervous on video and large groups of people- I can be little shy until I get to know someone, then I’m a chatty Kathy- or so I’ve been told
I think you’re not giving yourself enough credit. it takes a lot to get in front of a camera and think about how many people will see everything you do, and you ended up doing great!
