Girl’s Night In

August 28, 2009

I thought about going out with friends tonight, but I decided with the upcoming craziness in my life, a girl’s night in was much-needed. I might as well recharge with a relaxing night at home while I can, right?

To me, a girl’s night in, at a minimum, requires the following:

A Chick Flick

Spanglish is one of my favorite girly movies ever! I especially love Téa Leoni in it! Her character is fantastic! :-D

spanglish Beauty Products

I’m planning to give myself a mani, pedi, and facial while watching my chick flick.

IMG_6151Yummy Food

For dinner, I made a simple salad with fresh arugula (it’s heaven!), tomatoes, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.

IMG_6136 I also had some jalapeño-flavored potato chips.

IMG_6126And I made a batch of No-Cook Granola Almonds Butter Balls. I like these so much more than my No-Cook Peanut Butter Cookies! The granola adds a nice crunch to them! :-D

How to: Combine 1/4 cup dry oats, 1/4 cup granola, 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 2 tbsp agave nectar, 2 tbsp (heaping) almond butter in a small bowl. Mix ingredients well and roll batter into balls. Chill in the refrigerator for about an hour. Enjoy!

Comfy Clothes (preferably PJs)

(Not Murphy.)

Just a glass… or two! ;-)

Cookie Friday

This afternoon, I had intended to purchase a big ol’ cookie to celebrate Cookie Friday, but when I arrived at Crema Cafe, a special little something caught my attention:

IMG_6118

That’s right, a Yellow Squash-Orange-Hazelnut Mini Loaf. It sounded so interesting (and yummy), I could not pass it up! And it was very delicious– moist and soft with a slight hint of orange, a crumbly-granola top, and whole hazelnuts throughout. It was AWESOME! Just what I wanted! :-D

Lunch

Before I enjoyed Cookie Friday, I ate lunch: pineapple-flavored Chobani with Nature’s Path Organic Granola mixed in. The granola was the “Agave Plus” variety that is made with rolled oats, agave nectar, and sunflower seeds. It was delish!

Lunch also included a fresh fruit cup from Au Bon Pain. I left my camera in the office, so I didn’t snap a photo, but it looked a lot like the pic below.

Today wasn’t the most nutritious day of eating, but it’s Friday and all of the goodies were needed for a healthy mind and soul. Plus, it was kind of fun indulging in comfort foods all day! ;-)

Off to relax! Good night!

Those peanut butter bites remind me of the PB&J LARABAR I just tried today — fabulous! Run out and snag that new flavor. Also, it seems pineapple Chobani are all the rage… I’m not into dairy, but my friends say they wish Chobani was organic :/

Girls night in sounds like fun! My fave show to watch on a Friday night in is “Say Yes to the Dress” on TLC. Such a girlie, fun show!

“girls nights” are the best way to spend a Friday evening in my opinion! I just made your No Cook Peanut Butter Cookies using Almond Butter and I have to say I really like them, I will have to try them with the addition of granola though.

I’ve never seen that movie, but it’s on my list. I watched another movie last night that I had been wanting to see for a while — “Pursuit of Happiness” with Will Smith. It was so good and inspiring!

Hey Tina, I don’t have agave nectar but would like to make those cookies. Can you do so without it? Or what should I substitute?

Reply

K August 29, 2009 at 9:48 am

I was waiting for the wine! That’s like the cherry on the sundae :)

Hazelnuts need to be used more in baked goods – they’re one of my favorite nuts!

Tina August 29, 2009 at 10:12 am

@Sara: Honey might work. I made up the recipe last night, so I’m not 100% sure!

Ahh, I haven’t bought any Arbonne skin stuff in awhile and that picture made me miss it! The yellow squash muffin seems interesting – did it have a similar texture to a zucchini muffin?

Murphy is SO cute, he will look so huggable!

Spanglish was funny!

Hey Tina! I just tried the AB balls and added coconut! MMM. They don’t look as wet/gooey as yours though so maybe I didn’t “heap” my tbsp’s enough. Anyway, I had no problem eating three while making the little balls, so still yummy nonetheless. Thanks!

My guys and I headed into the city on Friday and we happened to stop by Crema Cafe so Charlie could try the Affogato. First we each had a slice of pizza at Upper Crust. Boy was Harvard Square hopping. What a great place to work. I can see why you like working in the city.
