Blog It Off

August 6, 2009

Good morning! 8-) Happy Thursday? :-?

The last few days have been such a whirlwind, I had no clue what day of the week it was when I woke up! I really wanted it to be Saturday morning, but then I remembered it was only Thursday. Meh. Anyway, it was such a weird feeling not knowing right away! I was definitely confused!

Breakfast

Despite the hot and humid weather, I woke up craving a warm bowl of oats.

This morning’s bowl was topped with fresh blueberries and Barney Butter.

Blog It Off

As many of you know, I started Carrots ‘N’ Cake as a way to motivate myself to eat well and exercise in preparation for my wedding, which was last summer. At that point, I had found my Feel Great Weight, but I still wanted to look great on the big day. Kath’s blog also inspired me to start my own– she made it look so fun!

Shaun Chavis, Health’s weight loss editor, recently wrote a piece about how blogging can help you lose/maintain your weight. She wanted to learn more about how bloggers benefit, so she wrote to Stephen Vinson, along with Jennette Fulda of Pasta Queen, and yours truly. :-D

31 Days of Summer

A summer tidbit from Kacy:

  • Add fruit to your water bottle so that you can have a taste of summer all day long. Make it even more special by adding fresh brewed green tea for a little energy boost!

Question of the Day

Why do you blog? If you don’t blog, why do you read healthy living blogs?

I’m blogging to lose weight, so far it’s working really well. It helps me to stay accountable and makes me more aware – it’s a great way to keep yourself on track and stay motivated.

I just started blogging! I’m hoping it will help me see where I need to make changes in my diet, along with my exercise routine. I’ll see where I need to switch it up and what works best for me.
I started reading healthy living blogs last summer because they were updated everyday, and they introduced me to new foods (Larabar!) and healthy recipes.

I started a blog to “pay if forward” to all those who have inspired me and hopefully to help others through sharing my experiences. It also keeps me motivated having some accountability – even if its just to myself. Over and over again, I read and witness that the key to losing weight (and maintaining) is finding accountability.

I love food/health blogs because I like to see what works or doesn’t work for them in terms of healthy living, and to get delicious recipes and ideas to try!

I do blog! Like you, I was very inspired by other bloggers to start my own. Not only is it great motivation to eat yummy and healthy food each day, it’s such a fun and positive community to be a part of.

I don’t blog, but I read a lot of great ones! They are so inspiring and help open my eyes to possibilities. I’ll read healthy habits that are part of a blogger’s routine and start out thinking….”wow, that’s something”. Then, I find I start thinking of it more and more and how I might incorporate that into my life and next thing I know, I’m doing it! For example, the 30 day shred. I wanted a goal that was small enough it was a setup for success, but large enough to make an impact in my life. I decided to work on consistency and turns out I’m on my second 30 days! I’m leary of putting myself out there on a blog and being so transparent; yet that’s the thing I enjoy most about the blogs I follow! Honesty and transparency and willingness to admit mistakes. Another big thing I’m learning is FORGIVENESS when I mess up; I’m learning it from the blogs.

I read healthy living blogs because they are of how I could and should be dealing with food. I hate to say it but I’m still in ED and even admit that how I eat, if any, is not healthy at all.

I just started blogging – and I do it in part b/c everyone kept asking me questions about the healthy food I cook and about healthy living tips . . . . there is so much information out there – I cull out what I find interesting and blog about it. So far, so good! Love yours!

i blog b/c it helps keep me accountable with my eating disorder – reading blogs has really helped me get a sense of what “normal eating” looks like, and gives me inspiration on what to eat when i’m feeling overwhelmed and blah

I first started searching the net for fitness blogs and discovered food blogs. I came across your blog and Healtytippingpoint when it was SeeBrideRun! I love that everyone incorporates food and fitness. I was inspired to start my own and it is easier with support to stay on track with healthy eating. It’s my journal online that keeps me accountable and has helped me lose 15 pounds since Nov.08!

I think I originally started blogging after I stumbled into the food blogging world, and thought: “Hey, I can do that”. I think what keeps me going is sharing my passion for food and being creative in the kitchen, learning new things from fellow bloggers, making new friends, and the fact that I get to practice photography skills every single day!

I read a lot of food blogs, but don’t write one. I feel like there are so many, what would I bring to the table? Yours is in my top three for sure.
