Back to Reality

August 17, 2009

What a weekend! I still can’t believe that the Healthy Living Summit is really over. I absolutely loved living in healthy living-vacation land for a few days. And I loved being able to devote that much time and energy to health, wellness, and friends in such a fun and positive environment.

*Sigh* Back to reality.

Breakfast

Not surprisingly, I slept through my alarm this morning. I missed my morning workout, but my body definitely needed the rest. I was exhausted! I have a workout planned for later tonight– probably some lower body strength training, which I’ve blown off for over a week now! I’m really trying to make exercise a priority in my life, like Bob Greene suggested, so it’s on the top of my list for tonight.

I was in a little bit of a rush this morning, so I toasted a cinnamon raisin bagel and topped it with Barney Butter and banana slices. Fast and simple.

After listening to Jenna rave about Amazing Grass this past weekend, I knew that I should give it another try. For breakfast, I also mixed up an Amazing Grass-chocolate-coffee drink to take on my commute.

In the mix:

  • 1 packet Amazing Grass Kidz Super Food
  • 8 oz. vanilla soy milk
  • 8 oz. iced coffee

I “need” coffee in the morning to get me going, so my grass + chocolate + caffeine drink was the prefect morning combination for me. It definitely worked!

Lunch

Today’s lunch was all over the place because we have no food in our apartment. In a rush this morning, I came up with this lunch:

Edamame:

(A few edamame are missing from this photo because I dug-in before I snapped a pic.)

Art’s Original Blend Pro Bar:

I loved all of the nuts in this flavor!

And pineapple-flavored Chobani:

The combo of (random-ish) foods satisfied me quite well. It stinks that there wasn’t fresh fruit and veggies included in today’s lunch, but I plan to fix that with a produce-packed dinner.

Bostonians: Is anyone attending Yelp’s Red Carpet Gallery Gala tomorrow night? Let me know if you are! It’d be fun to meet up!

Question of the Day

How do you make fitness a priority in your life?

Mmm, looks great. Oh, by the way — all that HLS, Zesty blog-chat inspired me to finally start my own blog! Check it out if you get a chance. Look forward to hearing the winner tonight!

I *try* to get up in early but if I don’t then I pack a portable lunch to eat and then walk around my school’s neighborhood during my lunch hour. It’s not the same as a run in the AM but at least my body is moving and I get the energy burst from it!

Whoa, pineapple Chobani?! Yuuuum! Where did you find that flavor?

Your Amazing Grass coffee combo sounds delish. I have yet to try any of their products, and I might have to start with this concoction.

Pineapple Chobani!! I have to find this stuff!

For me, I work in fitness by literally putting it on my calendar every day. I have the benefit of having a place to work out at work so I usually use my lunch hour for that every day during the week. Then I tentatively “schedule” activities to do on the weekends like go for a walk, clean, etc. on my calendar too (I use Google calendar).

It really helps me!

Several of the points associated with this weblog publish are usually beneficial nonetheless had me personally wanting to understand, did they seriously imply that? One stage I’ve got to say is your writing experience are excellent and I’ll be returning back for any brand-new weblog post you come up with, you might probably have a brand-new supporter. I book marked your weblog for reference.
