Agave Nectar & Berries
Yummy breakfast this morning!

And it was so easy to make!
To make the agave nectar and berry sauce, I just combined 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries with 1/4 cup agave nectar in a small bowl and popped it in the microwave for about 90 seconds– until the berries were fully defrosted and the mixture was warm.

Then I poured the warm sauce over two toasted Van’s Organic Waffles. Mmmmm! The berries and agave nectar blended so well together.

I also added a grass + caffeine smoothie and a no-cook peanut butter cookie to breakfast for some added staying power.

Examples Workouts
This morning, I practically bounded out of bed to do this circuit training workout that I had forgotten about until recently. It’s funny how old (new?) workouts can motivate me like that! I also sort of forgot about all of these workouts that I have posted on the blog since its beginning. And there are even more example workouts here (just scroll through my older posts).
Question of the Day
If you won $1 million, what would you do with it?

Madison — August 25, 2009 @ 7:32 am
That breakfast looks yummy. I usually defrost my berries in the microwave too for toppings in yogurt–but have not thought about using agave too. I might have to try that!
Taylor — August 25, 2009 @ 7:39 am
Breakfast is so colorful, I love berries on waffles!
If I won one million dollars, I think I would give half to my parents. B/c they have spent so much on me….school, clothes, my car, my apartment….. And then the other half I would save for my future house!
caitlin — August 25, 2009 @ 7:59 am
quit my fucking job!!!!
Jess (Fit Chick in the City) — August 25, 2009 @ 8:10 am
What a simple, and yummy breakfast!
I would open up my own business.
Jen — August 25, 2009 @ 8:10 am
Pay off my school loans, pour money into my 401k, set aside money for my future wedding/honeymoon, beef up my “emergency fund”, set aside money for a down payment on a condom, buy out H& M, get a pair of Jimmy Choos and a big ole’ expensive purse and then quit my job and travel, travel, travel with my bf.
Jen — August 25, 2009 @ 8:11 am
I meant down payment on a condo!!! Oops!!!
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) — August 25, 2009 @ 8:22 am
I’d like to say I’d invest it and spend it wisely, or plan for my future. And maybe I’d take over 1/2 of it and do just that.
But mostly I would spend some time in Paris, and the rest of Europe. It’s a dream.
Kat — August 25, 2009 @ 8:24 am
I’ll echo Caitlin’s statement
Danielle — August 25, 2009 @ 8:32 am
A milliion dollars? I’d definitely buy a house!
Emily (Healthy Fit Mama) — August 25, 2009 @ 8:34 am
If I won $1 million, I’d start by paying off my school loans! Then I’d buy a house.
Kaytee — August 25, 2009 @ 8:35 am
Mmm, waffles. Looks delicious.
If I won a million dollars, first I’d pay my parents back for college and for my car. I’d convince my boyfriend to bite the bullet and move to San Francisco with me and have a beautiful wedding and Mediterranean honeymoon. After that I’d probably put it in some fancy savings account to accumulate interest. I’m not the type who would like to stop working.
chandra — August 25, 2009 @ 8:35 am
I would pay off my student loans, get a better car, and then save/invest!! And probably take a trip to Italy.
Eliza — August 25, 2009 @ 8:39 am
lovely waffle, that fruit sauce looks so delicious.
well if i had a mill dollars i would move to park slope brooklyn(favorite place in the world) and live in a beautiful brown stone apartment and get a place in paris, and just live like a queen

Ada — August 25, 2009 @ 8:39 am
I had Van’s waffles for breakfast this morning too!! They weren’t as pretty as yours though.
If I won a million dollars I would finance my college education, donate money to Doctor’s Without Borders, and buy an apartment;)
Rebecca — August 25, 2009 @ 8:40 am
That looks amazing! It kind of looks like the crepes I got at a restaurant the other day that had blueberries, blackberries, and blueberry sauce on them.
If I won a million dollars, I’d give some away to charities and my family, buy a new car, and pay off my loans/credit card bills! Maybe buy a new bike too! AND MOVE TO BOSTON!
Runeatrepeat — August 25, 2009 @ 8:42 am
I would buy a house in FL and one in CA and spend half my time with my fam and half with Ben’s
Jenna — August 25, 2009 @ 8:50 am
I warmed up sliced strawberries with a bit of sugar in the microwave last night as part of my dessert, HOLY YUM!!! Fabulous looking breakie.
I would travel, make sure my family was taken care of, and invest!
Mellissa — August 25, 2009 @ 8:51 am
If I won a million dollars I would donate some and spend the rest on travel, there are so many places that I want to see!
Meghan@traveleatlove — August 25, 2009 @ 8:52 am
I’d give half to my mom so she could have a worry-free retirement, put 50k in a fund for my goddaughter’s college, take a month off to go to Australia, and put any leftovers into savings. Ahhh. . . nice to dream!
Sarah — August 25, 2009 @ 8:54 am
I would donate at least $100,000. Pay off my debt, and that of my parents and in-laws. Then I would take a long trip to Europe- making sure to go to Italy, Spain, Germany and Ireland….Fix-up my small house (nothing too extravagant), and invest the rest for the future!
Christie @ Quit Your Diet — August 25, 2009 @ 8:56 am
I’d buy a charming little cottage at the beach, spend my days writing, making jewelry and going to yoga teacher training. I’d also write my book without fear of it not selling
Cynthia (it all changes) — August 25, 2009 @ 8:56 am
Finding old things you forgot about is like Christmas!
If I had a million dollars I would give a good bit to my church and my parents. Then I would get a car for me and some fun stuff I want. Maybe have a good spa day. Then I’d be boring and save the rest. I’m not ready to retire so I’d put a bunch in savings to buy a house and the like later.
Kate — August 25, 2009 @ 9:00 am
Mmm, awesome combo — berries, waffles and a green coffee smoothie! I like that defrosting berries trick.
Sarah — August 25, 2009 @ 9:01 am
Pay off my debt, donate to charity and my church, take care of my family, buy a house and save the rest. I’d definitely work my way out of my current job too and pursue my passions!
Voracious Vorilee — August 25, 2009 @ 9:10 am
I would pay off my debt, gift some to my parents, and put the rest into savings and travel!
Ellen (Peace In Motion) — August 25, 2009 @ 9:12 am
wow that breakfast looks divine!
brandi — August 25, 2009 @ 9:18 am
i love using frozen berries on pancakes and waffles, but I’ve never added agave!
If I won $1 million, I would pay off our school loans, pay off the house, then send the rest to the orphanage we support. I want to be debt free!!!
MelissaNibbles — August 25, 2009 @ 9:20 am
Those berries look delicious. I love finding new ways to use agave nectar. Thanks!
If I won a million dollars, I would pay off my debt and my parent’s debt, buy a car, take a vacation, donate a portion to charity and then invest the rest.
Lizzy — August 25, 2009 @ 9:23 am
what a great way to make a berry sauce quick!
if i were to win a million i would first pay off my debt and then probably buy a house or new car. so many possibilities!!
Cait (Cait's Plate) — August 25, 2009 @ 9:27 am
HOLY YUM Tina! That looks so good! I’ve never ventured into the land of agave nectar but people seem to love it so I might have to give it a try. It might be a healthier replacement for the syrup I usually use! Haha.
CaSaundra — August 25, 2009 @ 9:33 am
I still want to try agave–looks like a great recipe I could experiment with–thanks!
rhodeygirl — August 25, 2009 @ 9:36 am
that looks deliciousssssss! i bet it would be awesome with peaches too!
Nicole — August 25, 2009 @ 9:40 am
I would, without a doubt, buy a farm. Then use the rest to help animals
Catie — August 25, 2009 @ 9:41 am
I would pay off all of my college debt early and then buy myself a nice car then use the rest for a wedding someday.
Shannon (The Daily Balance) — August 25, 2009 @ 9:41 am
so funny that you asked the question about $1 million, because I JUST bought a mega millions ticket (up to 265 million!). I would give a lot to my family, pay off student loans and travel with the Mister– and put a down payment on a house! I’d invest the rest
K — August 25, 2009 @ 9:45 am
That looks incredible! What a decadent breakfast!!
If I won 1 mil, I would invest some of it and then go on a European tour
Stephanie — August 25, 2009 @ 10:02 am
Breakfast looks so fresh and delicious!!!!
Jenny — August 25, 2009 @ 10:03 am
that breakie looks tres gourmet! I love Van’s waffles.
Erin F. — August 25, 2009 @ 10:14 am
That breakfast looks so much better than my mushy oatmeal!
If I won $1mil, I’d probably give half to my and my BF’s families, then use the other half towards a house. Sadly even with the recession, that still wouldn’t buy a nice place in Fairfield County, but it would sure be a nice start!!
Deirdre — August 25, 2009 @ 10:19 am
I’d pay off my student loans, help my sister out with hers, and give my family money for my brother’s college tuition. Then I’d try to buy (really just make a down payment) on a Manhattan apartment.
Maria — August 25, 2009 @ 10:20 am
Yummy breakfast! I would travel the world, buy a dream house, donate to charity, and help out family members, invest, and quit my job…ha!
Megan — August 25, 2009 @ 10:22 am
Your breakfast looks so pretty!
Oh gosh if I won 1 millions dollars I would travel the world, do mission work, invest (to please my Daddy), buy my parents their new house we are about to start building, and give my family/ friends the best birthday gifts ever!!!
Lindsay @ bananaandchocolate — August 25, 2009 @ 10:33 am
Those waffles look yummy! If I won 1 million dollars I would pay off my student loans. Then I would probably buy our dream house. I would also get my family really great presents.
Nicci@NiftyEats — August 25, 2009 @ 11:45 am
Loving the Berry waffles. If i won a million dollars I would by my mother a new car, bigger house and pay $ set money aside for my lil brother. he’ll be graduating in 2 years. pay for all his college education. Then buy myself a new car and the bf and finish school. pay those loans haha

How did the no bake cookie turn out?
faith — August 25, 2009 @ 11:52 am
pay off my debt ie. student loans, medical bills, blah blah blah
pay my parents back for all they’ve “loaned” me over the years and make sure they’re taken care of
buy some of the things i’ve been coveting forever such as: VITA MIX, food dehydrator, COMPUTER, digital camera (since both mine have bit the dust), fancy mixer
provide a treatment scholarship for someone suffering
go back to school for education
attend culinary school
get a new car
sponsor a good friend/family who is living in Africa
sponsor a child in a third world
tithe at least 20% to charities
i could keep going but now i have to work for enough gas money to get me home today…oh to win that million dollars….
Evan Thomas — August 25, 2009 @ 12:10 pm
That syrup sounds good. My go-to syrup right now is Trader Joe’s Maple Agave Syrup. It has a really distinct flavor, lighter than maple syrup but darker than agave, and it pairs with waffles and peanut butter well
Lauren — August 25, 2009 @ 12:12 pm
Hmm, I would probably move to Charleston, SC (love it!) and buy a house right on the water. I’d also want to give quite a bit to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network, and pet resuce agencies. If I had any left, I would treat my boyfriend to a trip to Argentia to see his favorite soccer team.
Lauren — August 25, 2009 @ 12:14 pm
I just realized that I could never do all those things with 1 million. I wouldn’t even be able to buy that house with 1 million
If I had 10…
Ali — August 25, 2009 @ 12:17 pm
I would pay off my debut. Quit my job and blog full time. Pay my parents back for all my schooling they paid for and by my grandpas house.
Brekkie looks amazing!
Tay — August 25, 2009 @ 12:31 pm
I made similar syrup the other day with frozen blueberries and maple syrup! Delish!! Thanks for those workouts…i zm always on the lookout for new ones! Hmmm with all that money I would pay off my school loans, save most for a house, take my family on a wondefful vacation, and shop
Beth @ CrossBorderCravings — August 25, 2009 @ 12:35 pm
Fun question! I really want to go to culinary school so I would def. spend money on that. Not to be boring but I’d probably put the rest towards a house and furniture – a house of my own would be nice!! :O)
kay (eating machine) — August 25, 2009 @ 12:46 pm
I would pay off my student loans, and buy a house!
We’re house hunting right now (latest love is on my blog) and if we had just a little more money there’d be so many more houses to choose from in the part of town we want…
Carolyn — August 25, 2009 @ 1:17 pm
I’d bankroll my best friends kids future college educations, with padding…So they would have one less thing to worry about… I live in SE Michigan…We have a lot to worry about here right now…
I would give my best friends 10,000 each tax free (or however much that gift taxless thing is) because almonst no one actually gives each other money for no reason …I would bank anything left over, for our future… Cause it’s about to get interesting around the US…
Jenny — August 25, 2009 @ 1:25 pm

Interesting article… orthorexia seems to be predominant on food blogs
Sarah — August 25, 2009 @ 1:59 pm
Your breakfast sounds delicious – I might even sandwich a little cottage cheese or Greek yogurt in between the Vans to up the protein, but I’m a protein freak!
Not sure about the million dollars!
MarathonVal — August 25, 2009 @ 2:03 pm
I would pay my parents back for my undergrad loans, pay back the loan companies for my grad school loans, open my own vegan restaurant/bakery and open my own nonprofit!

MB — August 25, 2009 @ 7:22 pm
I just bought my MegaMillions tickets for tonight so I’ve been dreaming about what I would do with the money. The first thing I would do is quit my job. After that, I would pay off my debt and try to get a decent house. If I win the mega multi million dollar jackpot I would share the winning with my friends and family for sure. Dare to dream …
angieinatlanta — August 25, 2009 @ 8:03 pm
Holy deliciousness! Great idea for the syrup!
