A Better Cookie

August 7, 2009

Happy Cookie Friday!!! Friday is my favorite day of the week! But, I’m sure you probably could have guessed that! ;-)

For my Friday cookie, I headed to Starbucks to try their Outrageous Oatmeal Cookie. I’ve drooled over wanted to try it for a few weeks now, so Cookie Friday was the perfect excuse to finally do so.

Remember this Cookie Friday? Well, the Outrageous Oatmeal Cookie is much more nutritionally sound with 370 calories, 8 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 3 grams of fiber, 5 grams of protein, and fewer “scary” ingredients. Not bad for a store-bought cookie!

I also grabbed an iced coffee with non-fat milk for an afternoon pick-me-up.

Oh yea, I ate a homemade salad for lunch too. In the mix: arugula, broccoli, tomatoes, peach chunks, and sliced almonds. It was tasty, but not nearly as exciting as my cookie!

Mini Blog Break

I’m headed to Vermont for the weekend, so I’m taking a mini break from the blog. Mal and I are staying in a cabin without internet access, so I decided to leave my computer at home. Of course, I’m not going to leave ya hanging all weekend, so I’ve set up a few blog posts ahead of time– some of which address my “secret” adventure. ;-)

Enjoy the weekend! I’m off to God’s country! 8-)

Have a wonderful weekend in VT… it sure is gorgeous up there, and the cabin sounds lovely! Sometimes it’s nice to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle, and you deserve a blog break.

The cookie looks amazing what with the different kinds of dried fruit… I bet it was delicious :) .

Tina – have you ever tried the cookie at Whole Foods called “jumble” or something like that? It has chocolate chips, raisins, nuts, etc. etc. etc. and it is SO good. Of course, no nutritionals, but it’s not ginormous and it’s worth the splurge.

Have a great weekend!

Vermont is beautiful…you will be so close to me. Enjoy the weekend away from internet. Sometimes that’s exactly what we need.

I’m jealous of your cookie. I saw them today when I got my iced latte and almost bought one. Good to hear it was more nutritionally sound.

Have a great time in VT! We like to say we work in Boston but live in Vermont. We have a camp in the Northeast Kingdom and go up every weekend we can.

Stowe is one of my favorite places. My favorite hike is at the top of Mt. Mansfield. You can drive up the mountain road and hike along the ridge to the peak with views of NY and Canada on a clear day. It is the best!

Hope you are having a great weekend!
