Mighty Breakfast

July 15, 2009

What to have for breakfast this morning was an easy decision: Might Maple Peanut Butter! Holy yum! This stuff is like nut butter crack!

I spread the Mighty Maple on two slices of hemp toast.

And, I added some fresh mango for some color.

Check out my new placemats that I used this morning! They were a serious bargain at the Christmas Tree Shop! Only $1.69 each! :-D

I think my feel great weight would be the weight that I don’t wake up with a backache in the mornings! I’ll get there, it’s a slow process though. Love your site!

I’m still learning what my Feel Great Weight is, but I’m making progress every day! I think my FGW will be the weight I’m at and look in the mirror and feel content with my looks – in theory that should be in any weight!

I love that PB!!

My feel great weight for body and mind seems to be where I am right now. I’ve learned to love it. Recovering from an eating disorder of 10+ years I wasnt sure where my own bodys natural happy weight would be. Suffice to say here I am and I have a new love for it! It’s a place I dont have to FIGHT for, starve for or feel bad about!

I know this Mighty Maple is definitely CRACK! OMG it’s amazing isn’t it? You have to try it on a date. Best thing in the world!

Hope you have a wonderful day Tina! :)

I LOVE that peanut butter. PB&Co. is genius. Pure genius.

Great looking breakfast! My mom loves the Christmas Tree Shop’s when they travel to the New England states.

love that pb! i also love that article. i’ve often dealt with negative reactions from friends or family over my eating habits, telling me i wasn’t “fun” anymore. i’ve learned how to balance friends and health much better, but it’s taken a lot of practice (and your blog has seriously helped!).

my feel great weight is where i don’t have to work to maintain it – where i eat well, enjoy all the foods i love, exercise however much i want (or don’t want!), and don’t mind the normal fluctuations.

I just bought some of the maple PB! I’m super psyched to try it.

I love that flavor of PB & Co. The maple syrup makes it a little bit crunchy because of the sugar crystals. I can’t resist it – especially in the fall!

I haven’t had that PB in a long time! Must get some more soon! I like to have it as dessert =)

I love your placemats!

I don’t know what my feel great weight is yet…I am still struggling to get there (I have been overweight since middle school!), but I do consider my self at a “feel better but not great weight” right now.

Meghan@traveleatlove July 15, 2009 at 8:36 am

Don’t you just love a bargain? :) hehe.
My feel great weight is what I have been at since shortly after college, so about 7 years. I have learned that if I eat an 80% healthy diet and MOVE I stay very close to that weight all the time, allowing for holidays, vacations, celebrations, etc.

Gotta love that Christmas Tree Shop :)

As a Health Magazine employee, I might be biased, but I LOVE the FGW Program and think you’ve been a wonderful addition to it – so thank you! And I’d definitely say my “Feel Great Weight” is whenever I feel the most toned and in-shape. It’s not a about a number but rather how confident I feel in what I’m wearing and how it fits that day :)

I love the Mighty Maple! I just bought that and the Chocolate Dreams PB for $3 at this little boutique called Target. I had a whole wheat wrap with the Mighty Maple and sliced bananas all rolled up for breakfast this morning. You should try it Tina!

Cute placemats!

I don’t know what my feel great weight is. As someone who is recovering from binge eating disorder, my focus has been healing my relationship with food rather than being a specific weight. I am overweight at this point but I eat well, exercise regularly and I feel good most of the time and to me, that is more important than the number on the scale or the number inside my jeans.

Jen July 15, 2009 at 9:10 am

130 at 5’4″- seriously when I see/read about girls who tout 120 at that height, they are spending WAY too much time working out and not enough enjoying food!

Ada July 15, 2009 at 9:10 am

I love that peanut butter! I go to the actual store/restaurant in NYC just to pick up extra jars. I love the placemats too, they’re so colorful!

Oooh! Love Mighty Maple! PB & Co rocks! Dark Chocoate Dreams is my fav so far. White Chocolate Wonderful is good, but not spectacular. I really want to try the Cinnamon Raisin, but can’t find it locally!

Great placemats!

I think that’s the only PB & Co pb that I haven’t had! Hmm my feel good weight is anywhere betwenn 117 -122, I’m a short girl..and I like to give myself a range, sticking with just one number is too restricting :)

Reply

Rose July 15, 2009 at 9:20 am

Very cute placemat! My weight has always hovered comfortably around 130 lbs. My weight seems to always go back to that number despite losses and gains. I’ve been that way since I was about 14.

Reply

brandi July 15, 2009 at 9:29 am

so jealous of the mighty maple! I cannot find it here!!! It sounds amazing :)

I think my feel great weight is when I’m eating balanced, allowing for splurges, staying active and not worrying about my actual #. Fluctuations are normal. When my life is not about the number, but about being healthy.

my feel great weight is at about 115-120 at 5’5. right now im 103 from dealing with a few issues..but im slowly trying to work my way back up to that weight before going to college. i eat very healthy, just not enough healthy fat i dont think since i mostly just eat fruit and veggies. but i do over-exercise sometimes i think which is my problem.

your blog has helped me see that you can eat this kind of breakfast (two peices of toast with PB) and still have a beautiful body without having to burn off all of the calories. thank you tina!!

Lindsey July 15, 2009 at 9:53 am

I am going to have to try that peanut butter! Yum!

I think I am very close to my FGW if I’m not there already. I’m really loving how I feel and look right now and I’m confident. I am trying to get away from the whole, “oh but what if I lost 3-5 more pounds” mentality. I’m getting there!

Reply

K July 15, 2009 at 10:21 am

Mighty Maple is tied for number one when it comes to the PB&Co. flavors! Cinnamon raisin shares the top spot.

Melly July 15, 2009 at 10:46 am

Yummm. I love PB&Co. I haven’t tried that flavor yet though!

I’m just wondering what type of hemp bread you are using. I’ve been looking for a yummy bread. How do you like it?

Reply

Maria July 15, 2009 at 11:29 am

Great breakfast! I haven’t tried hemp bread yet. I am working on my FGW. I lost a lot of weight because of some GI issues in the past couple months and I really didn’t need to lose any. So now I am trying to gain some weight. I am 5’6 and got down to 99, I know, not good. So I hope to be back at 115 soon! I am gaining the healthy way, I don’t want to eat donuts and chips all day:) I am trying to eat more healthy fats, protein, and calories. Plus I am increasing my strength training. Sorry if that was too much info:)

I’m still trying to figure out my feel great weight. Like Maria I got way too low for my height and then flew in the other direction. Great. I think right now my feel great weight is becoming less about a number on a scale and more about how I feel in my clothes, my energy level, etc. I definitely do not want to get as skinny as I once was but I want my tone back.

I love all this feel great weight stuff! I think it is really great for women to get an idea of what other women actually weigh.

I’m 5 foot 6 1/2 and right now I weigh 133 pounds, which is in my feel great weight range of between 131-134. When I started losing weight I was at about 180 and miserable. I got down to 126 and was just as miserable; couldn’t eat what I wanted, didn’t feel strong. When I’m rocking out at between 131-134 my body is happy, I can eat a piece of cake and not freak out, and I feel strong enough to bike everywhere and work out almost every day.

I really liked your article on Health. I went through the same thing when I started focusing on eating healthy. My family and my coworkers just did not understand, and still to this day make comments about how “regimented” I am or that I’m a “party pooper”! I just brush it off though – I’d rather be health and the butt of the joke than unhealthy with a big butt!

Aggie July 15, 2009 at 1:30 pm

I’m so afraid to buy that pb…I have tried the other ones and they are so addicting!!!

Reply

Cynthia C. July 15, 2009 at 1:43 pm

I haven’t tried that one yet but I did have some almond butter with maple in it and about died…it was that good.

My feel great weight is about 10 pounds from now. I’ve lost over 100 in the last several years and I know that I will be in the healthy weight range in about 10 pounds. I look in the mirror and I’m really proud of what my body has accomplished but I know that I can still do better.

Something that I love about this question is that people are usually so scared to even talk about weight…as though it’s wrong to acknowledge that weight matters to us…as though acknowledging that we have “feel great weight”s means that we’re too vain/self-obsessed or have eating disorders. Yes, weight matters to us, and that’s not something we should have to hide.
My feel great weight is 113-117. I’m about three pounds over that right now (due somewhat to a running injury), but it’s worth it to let my leg recover.

How exactly is this a healthy balance? This is more like an unhealthy balance of a breakfast.

But, I suppose I don’t expect another free-loading leecher in our higher education system to actually have any unique intelligence.

Now go push some more papers for your slave-masters while you collect your undeserved salary.
