Guest Blog: Review of LaloFit

July 26, 2009

Hello Carrots N Cake readers. My name is Amanda and I am the mind, the body and the stomach behind the new blog Modernation. The word ModerNation came from the combination of Moderation and Nation. My goal is to encourage a nation that believes in moderation. On my blog I share tips and tricks that work for me, and I also post recipes, workouts and product reviews. The following is a review of a workout video I recently purchased. Thanks for reading!

Picture 1I ordered this DVD after reading about it in Shape Magazine and reviewing Lalo’s website. I have to say, I am not a big fan of workout DVDs because I usually find it hard to stay motivated in my living room. I only have a couple exercise videos at home but wanted to add to my collection to have more options for at-home or on the road workout. And $20 for an almost hour-long video, I figured I had nothing to lose!

LaloFit is described as 55 minutes of high and low intensity exercises designed to get you ripped! Lalo Fuentes guides you through the moves using his Freeze Technique, connecting your mind to your muscles for an intense workout.

The day the video arrived my friend Teresa and I were excited to give it a try. Boy, was it hard! Since we did not have the proper free weights at my house, we used resistance bands. We could barely walk the next day – a result I have never experienced from a workout video. Lalo keeps you moving the whole time, keeping your heart rate elevated so you torch tons of calories while sculpting muscles. The next day I went out and bought very light weights (3 and 5lb.) to use for this DVD.

One thing to keep in mind – Lalo will instruct you on how many reps of each exercise to do, and then proceed to do twice as many. I recommend counting your reps and stopping when you have completed the suggested number of reps. The first day, Teresa and I just followed everything Lalo did which I think is why we couldn’t move the next day.

VERDICT: This is a great way to get in a full hour-long workout at home or on the road. With all the traveling we are all doing this summer, it is great to have in your bag. I would definitely recommend this video. And it doesn’t hurt that Lalo may be the sweetest and cutest trainer ever!

I am always looking for new ways to get in fitness so I may have to try this. Most of the DVD’s aren’t high enough intensity. Thanks for the review!

Jillian’s 30 Day Shred is on my list, too – especially after reading about it on everyone’s blogs! This is definitely up there on the intensity scale – make sure to use light weights!

Sounds like a good DVD! It is hard to motivate yourself when your working out at home, I think that’s the difference between a good and average DVD. I have 30 Day Shred and I really like it, it’s great when I don’t have much time.
