Lunch

I overslept this morning, so I kept lunch simple. I started with a homemade tomato + cucumber salad with olive oil, salt, and pepper.

And Stonyfield Oikos mixed with CNC Trail mix and a pear on the side.

I’m blogging from Starbucks, so now I’m seriously craving an iced coffee. I’ll probably get one! ;-)

Sorry for such a brief post. I’m SO behind with blog stuff and need to catch up!

See ya later!

Bonus Question of the Day

Have you ever cried at work? If so, how did you recover from it?

I’ve cried at work both privately and openly. It’s hard because I have one of those jobs where people feel that they can tell me to my face that I suck. And it’s happen. That’s usually when I cry. But I’m an emotional person. I can’t help it.

Hope your not crying at work. Right now I’m going to bake an Orange Blossom Honey blueberry cake. Baking always makes me happy.

I’ve never cried at work, but I have a fear it will happen. I think it can be really detrimental, career-wise, to get emotional in front of people in the office. I work in a male-dominated industry, and I don’t want to be thought of as “frail”!

I haven’t ever cried of work because of work, but the week after my fiance and I broke up there were several break downs. My boss understood but I felt bad not being able to get it together!

The flowers are beautiful! Hope your day is ok!

I’ve cried at work twice. The first time, I ran to the bathroom and stayed in there until I had regained my composure and the other time, I cried on my manager’s shoulder. My manager didn’t make me cry, but she did help me work through the issue I was dealing with. I hope you’re having a good day! :) Beautiful flowers- they brightened my day just looking at them.

I’ve cried at work twice. Both incidents were in front of very understanding bosses who closed the door in their office and let me talk it out. My latest (and greatest!) boss even gave me a hug. Note: the crying in both cases was due to home life stress not work stuff.

Those flowers are so vibrant! I love them!! I haven’t cried at work – since I coach, I try to keep my emotions under control. If anything I snap at the kids I coach if their not working hard/paying attention but that’s RARE.

Those flowers are beautiful. Fresh flowers really do brighten up a room!

I actually hate to cry in public, but a few weeks ago I was feeling really stressed and overwhelmed. I started bawling at my desk and had to rush downstairs to the bathroom. My boss saw me, but I lied and said I had cramps. It was the best excuse I could think of! I just splashed water over my face, did some breathing exercises and stretched a little. It helped, sort of.

I too hate to cry in public. Of my 3 jobs, I have cried once at each one. Once because I was so stressed out and I locked myself in the office for a few minutes. The second because my boss was crazy and I went into the stairwell for a little while. Finally at my current job, I got passed over for a promotion I was SURE I was going to get. My supervisor was very understanding and let me work on a quiet project for a while. My husband also works there (on another floor) and he talked to me and made me feel better too.

I hope you are having a good day with no tears!

Yes!!! I’m a school social worker and sometimes it’s ridiculously stressful and emotional dealing with life and death situations – a suicidal child or a student who is dealing with death, etc.

I hope YOU had a good day at work today!!

Gorgeous flowers! I’ve never cried at work that I can remember… I usually save all the crying for when I’m at home and my poor husband has to deal with it!

Hope everything is ok with you today!!

It’s just too funny that you posted “Cheer Up” and this crying question today. Unfortunately, I as crying today at work. I tend to cry anytime I get very angry or hurt – and I hate it! Crying at work is unprofessional and embarrassing but I just have trouble stopping it when I have an emotional reaction. I guess this is something I need to accept about myself because I really have not been able to prevent it. In this case, it was due to some unfair accusations by a coworker but unfortunately, I’ve also received some bad family/personal news at work before – so I’ve cried in both types of circumstances. I usually take a walk and or go into the bathroom. Sometimes it helps to vent although talking about it can cause me to be emotional again so I try to just go for a walk and have a soothing drink and do my best to move on. I’m curious if you had a bad day too. If so, I hope you are doing better now! It was nice to hear that I am not alone in this – it made me feel better. :) Thanks all!

My most upsetting cry was when long-time patient told me his cancer was terminal. I held it together for the rest of his visit, but totally lost it when my next patient came in. They were good about it, and talked with me about it. We develop strong relationships, see people through difficult times, but don’t deal with terminal patients a lot. I’m a Podiatrist btw.
I cried tears of frustration a lot last year at the hospital where I worked. I was being harassed by co-workers who were supposed to be assisting me with transferring patients, but they just stalled, made rude comments and made my job more difficult. Nothing was dealt with or acknowledged by management on a timely basis, and there was no recognition of the poor working conditions and bad moralle.
After I’d had enough, I ended up quitting my job. The whole process felt like a divorce because as much as I like my career and enjoyed my patients, the workplace was toxic. We can’t ignore the human aspect of work. You can’t turn off your feelings when you go into work and can’t be expected to act or react like a robot. Though it may be unprofessional to outright cry, I found that my ability to perform my job and develop rapport with patients started to suffer as I gradually began to shut down emotionally to cope with this toxic environment.
I love my new job, haven’t cried yet! It’s only been since April though… ;)

Sorry you seem to be a little stressed!

I cried at work one time when my heinous VP decided to call me out of the blue and rip me a new one, if you know what I mean, and it took me so much by surprise that I suddenly felt tears welling up in my eyes! I got up, grabbed my keys, told my assistant “I’ll be back in a few minutes,” got in my car, and drove around with the windows down until I could pull myself together…sometimes you have to just walk away, ya know?

I have definitely cried at work before–I think it unfortunately happens to everyone at some point :( I’ve actually never cried about anything job-related, but rather personal things that I’ve carried to work with me (not good, I know!) I’ve managed this by going to the ladies’ room for a few minutes, and then dabbing my eyes with a cold paper towel. No one is the wiser!

I hope your Thursday is much better!
