Bachelorette Living

July 16, 2009

Mal has been at his parents’ house for the past couple of days, so I’ve been home alone at our apartment. His parents live on a farm of sorts, so Mal helps out in the summer by doing manual labor for them. I miss Mr. Mal, but he’ll be home soon enough (tomorrow afternoon).

It’s actually been kind of fun living the bachelorette life. 8-) I’ve basically taken over the whole apartment! I’m typically a neat and tidy person, but living alone has allowed me to be a little messy. ;-)

My blogging space was actually a disaster last night. I cleaned a little.

IMG_3218 It drives Mal crazy when I leave my “products” all over the bathroom sink. This scene would stress him out!

IMG_3215

I haven’t made the bed for 2 days now… and I’ve slept smack in the middle of the bed both nights.

Breakfast

This morning’s breakfast was a thick slice of toasted Great Harvest bread with Mighty Maple (crack) peanut butter and banana slices on top. On the side, I had a juicy piece of watermelon.

Hey Tina! It is fun to have a few days by yourself every once in a while :) Josh is going to a bachelor party this weekend so I will be a “bachelorette” as well. You guys have any fun plans this weekend? Perhaps going to see The Hangover? haha

No, I have never lived alone, but at times you wonder what it would be like to live in that coastal cottage on the beach…alone for just a little while. he he!!

I’ve lived alone, but I don’t enjoy it for an extended period of time. However, when my husband is out of town on business just for a few dyas, I love it!

Haha…this post made me laugh, because for the past two days I’ve been alone in the house too. And I’ve realized that I too have a messy side. ;)

I like living alone for a couple days, but any more then that and I go stir crazy and need to be around people!

I lived by myself for a year and a half…I loved it! But it did get lonely. Now I have 2 roommates….and it can be great or pretty bad! haha

My boyfriend and I only live 10 blocks apart, but we have our own apartments. It’s a pretty ideal situation! I love having my own apartment – I am very type A when it comes to cleaning and organizing and like having everything “just so”. However, occasionally I wish I had a roommate – it would be nice to have someone to split the bills and chores with!

HAHA! I love that. I live alone right now and I actually love it. I’m such a person that needs her alone time (and can sometimes just be a slob when no one is looking! :)

That bread is evoking such envy in me! I wish I had a GH near me!!

I lived alone for 4 months before our wedding and I loved it! It was just me and my dog and we could do whatever we wanted! I actually think my house stayed cleaner before hubby moved in!

I still secretly love it when hubby falls asleep on the couch, because then I can take the middle of the bed!

I have been living alone for almost 2 years now. Before that, during university, there was 7 of us living together. I have definitely seen both ends of the spectrum! Living alone isn’t so bad as long as you are busy, which I am! I’m not really home all that often so I don’t get lonely much. You just have to make an active effort to see friends since you don’t have anyone at home to lounge around and hang out with!

Yes, I have lived alone before. I’m happy to say I live with the love of my life, my husband, Gary. Every now and again, it’s nice to have a little time alone, but isn’t it great when your love comes home again?!
Question for you, what kind of bread is that? Great Harvests, I saw. I love the goodies on top!
Thanks so much.

I have lived alone and I mostly liked it. I do love living with my husband though because we are complete opposites and he really balances me out.

I’ve never lived alone, but I think I’d get kind of lonely after awhile. I like my alone time but don’t need too much!

Whenever my mister goes out of town, I do the same thing! Persoanlly, my favorite part is that I get to watch MY TV shows when I’m going to bed. I’d much rather him be there (even if I have to watch his crappy shows), but getting to watch terrible guilty pleasure TV shows helps ;)

I have a total love hate relationship with living along! It can be so nice, but at time, I find it’s way too quiet and I spend most of my time visiting friends. Grass is always greener, eh?

Have a beautiful day, Tina :o )

i do the same thing whenever my sister is out of town – somehow dishes stop being washed right away, makeup is left on the bathroom sink…it’s funny how that happens. :)

Haha, I like the glimpse into the bachelorette living. I’ve only lived alone for about a month while taking a summer class. Soon, I’ll be living alone for quite a while! I liked it before…I love having my privacy and being able to keep things the way I like it.

Do you eat differently when Mal is out of the house? After a weekend with PB I usually end up having lazy’s girl’s dinner for a couple of nights… basic salad etc. I wonder if that will change once I move to Philly and have dinner with him every night!

Also, happy to hear you are feeling better dear!

I loved alone for a yr and a half after college and LOVED it. In my opinion everyone should do it for at least a few months; its good getting to know yourself time!

I’ve never really lived alone but there were times in college when my roomates were gone and times now when my husband is out of town and I really take advantage! I love being alone to an extent but after a few days I’m in need of some people :)

@rhodeygirl: Not really. I do tend to buy things that Mal typically won’t eat– like eggplant, zucchini, and squash. I also will just eat cereal for dinner! :)

I’ve never lived alone, actually! I went from living at home to sharing rooms in dorms/apartments in college to being married :) I actually hate when Nick is gone – I don’t sleep well and I freak out at every sound. I guess I’m so used to living with someone and having them there that i don’t do well by myself!

I hope today is a better day at work! Your sandwich last night looked awesome :)

I NEVER lived alone – I went straight from roommate living to living with the hubs (well, before he was the hubs). But, Geoff was traveling for work all of last March so I got to try it out for a month, and I’ve gotta admit – I loved it! Sleeping in the middle of the bed is such a simple joy!

I LOVE living alone!! Living with roomates is tough for me, I like having my own space. Although I’ve lived with a serious boyfriend before and that wasn’t bad, I can handle that… but being single I love living on my own!

Shannon July 16, 2009 at 9:19 am

I also have been all by my lonesome since Tuesday…and I also feel more at liberty to spread out. Clothes and books and products everywhere (I do stay on my side of the bed, though :p) I always had roommates before moving in with my husband, so my first experience in solo living has been when he’s out of town. I like my alone time…but I miss him too. We talked on the phone for two hours yesterday, like teenagers :) I do always feel the need to clean up before he comes home–it’s really 50s-housewife of me, I know…

I’ve lived alone before and sometimes liked it and sometimes didn’t. My sweetheart left for three months for work and I did the same thing you did while Mal was gone – my stuff was all over the desk, I didn’t make the bed, I left my books piled up on the living room floor, you know. He’s back now, and I’d rather have him than my clutter!

I started living alone for the first time since last August and I LOVE IT. With the chaos of school and work and helping to start a non-profit, I need a lot more alone time and don’t like to work around other people when I get home. My boyfriend also has his own place so it feels like I have two apartments! I also don’t get lonely, but if I ever get bored I am fostering a cat, Simon, who is more than happy to play when I have time :) . Actually he usually doesn’t give me an option and just stands in front of my computer….

I’ve lived alone since age 22. I’m 29 now and moving in with my boyfriend this weekend. I’m FREAKING OUT about it. I do a lot of very strange things that I wouldn’t do in front of him (like talking in weird character voices to myself). I’m also nervous that we’ll get sick of each other. I think it’ll be worth it to see him everyday and open myself up in that way. It’s scary, but exciting at the same time.
I love the picture you have hanging over your bed. It really pulls that side of the room together (from what I can see).

I lived alone in Kentucky when I was 19 and working on a farm. It got lonely, but I worked so hard that I would just come home to sleep! I got homesick really quickly. Now I live with my fiance and that took awhile for me to get used to because I loved having the freedom to do whatever I wanted in my own place. I liked having “spa” nights and stuff that boys don’t understand :)

I’ve lived alone for the past 4+ years, and I kinda like it. I don’t think I could do the whole roommate thing. Significant other would be different, but roommate, not so much. I’ve seen too many freindships turn bad in roommate situations.

I always had roomies before getting married last year. I like my alone time though. Tonight hubs is going mountain biking with his buddy so I will have a girls night to myself. I went running this morning so I can relax tonight. I plan on painting my toe nails, watching SYTYCD and relaxinig:)

I like being home alone sometimes. You can wear whatever you want and sing at the top of your lungs. You can dance like crazy, not worry about cleaning up the dishes (well, not YET anyway), and you don’t have to worry about your brother saying that whatever you’re making for dinner “smells weird”. Hahah.
Of course it’s nice to have others around though. I’d go insane if I were alone all the time.

I live alone right now and I LOVE it! I’m rarely REALLY alone since my BF’s always around, but I really enjoy the random weekend when he’s out of town and I really have the place to myself. I have noticed though that I was much neater when living with a roommate, perhaps in an effort to encourage them to be neater?

I lived alone for three months when we were in transition between two cities when I changed jobs. DH lived at “home” and I had an apartment in the new city. I had never lived in an apartment but it was nice for a short time, simple. I loved it, I had never lived alone but always wanted to. I liked that I could do and act and go wherever I wanted without having to explain anything to anyone.
Tina: LOVE YOUR COMB! :) and of course LOVE your blog too! Happy belated anniversary. One year! wow, I can’t remember that far back, I’ve been married 37 years. YIKES.
